You may be searching for a place to eat as you drive by on I84. If you like over priced food and small portions, this could the place for you. I ordered a Rueben Sandwich and fries with a Diet Pepsi. After tax it set me back $16.98. While rye bread was of good quality, the "thinly sliced corned beef" was indeed thin. I had maybe 5 shavings of it. Maybe 3oz of meat. Fries were served unseasoned. Overall, the restaurant is clean. Server was polite. But I'd never eat here again as I can get better value and overall quality from Arby's. My friend who I was dining with had their bacon jalapeño on a bioche bun. Menu price alone of $15.99. 6oz patty and same mediocre fries. While his food was admittedly good, it was not great. Neither of our meals justified the nearly $42 dollars we spent at this place. We feel fleeced, and this experience has motivated me to start writing yelp reviews. read more

We came in for lunch on our way through from a 3 week road trip. Service was friendly, although the young gal at the front counter seemed overwhelmed or confused. Food was ok... nothing to top the charts, but more than edible. Our server never came to check on us and I finally had to go to the front counter and request a box for my leftovers. read more

We stopped in for lunch driving from ID to WA. The place seemed clean. The staff was friendly. There were only two other tables occupied and a little dissapointed that forna refill of coffee I had to get up and go to the counter with our cups. Our server stated she was coming back to refill them when she delivered our food but that never happened. For the place being almost empty that kinda rubbed me wrong. Ifnyou pay for coffee at least one refill you shouldn't need to stress about. When I went to the counter another server helped me and our server didn't say a word. She later walked by our table and quickly said to me sorry that she forgot. The food was OK. Nothing that jumped out. If we were driving by again I probably wouldn't go back... I love this place. Friendly and prompt service. My favorite meal here is the let r crow breakfast with eggs consistantly cooked just the way I like them, I usually get the Granola french toast. It has a great flavor and texture, but you can get pancakes, blueberry pancakes, and cornfield french toast too. The other day I picked up 4 quarts of their homemade Chicken noodles, when I say homemade, I mean they actually make the noodles. They are amazing. Their homade battered onion rings are the best. At the tail end of a 2-week road trip vacation, I had a hankering for good fried chicken. My wife ordered the Northwest Summer Salad. The chicken was fantastic: 4 pieces, nicely buttered and perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes and gravy were just as Megan, our delightful server, advertised - excellent! My wife is that her salad, loaded with strawberries, blueberries, Marionberries and goat cheese may have been the best thing she'd eaten in the past 2 weeks (and we've had some wonderful meals)! Wonderful homemade food and wonderful people who work there! I always try to visit Roosters when I'm in town. My granddaughter and myself visited yesterday and when she picked up her water cup, the lid slipped off and dumped icy water into her Mac & cheese. Although she wanted to try to eat it, I asked the waitress to take it and the waitress generously brought her back another meal! Definitely coming back! We have eaten poor fast food in Pendleton so many times because we are driving through and I didn't want to take the time for a sit down restaurant. Today we decided to give it chance and now we are just regretting all the McDonalds trips we've had here. 1- the service was fantastic. Polite and QUICK! We were in and out in less than 45 mins. When we left they even offered us tall glasses of ice water and straws to go since they knew we were traveling. Who does that?! 2- the place was so clean. Tables, silverware, floor, etc. So many restaurants of this type let it slip and eating on the road grosses me out. This place is very well kept. Even had beautiful Christmas decorations all throughout. 3- and last but not least, the food. Wow. We had fall apart pot roast and potatoes and veggies. Definitely recommend those. But honestly I had a hard time even choosing between all the entrees, salads, and sandwiches. They even have a monte cristo, which I am definitely getting next time! I can't decide if this place was really that spectacular or whether we were just tired and hungry from a long day of travel. We walked right in, no wait. Seated and drinks within the first 5-10 minutes. The food was pretty much your regular American fare. Burgers, salads, sandwiches, and chicken obviously. The one noteworthy menu item was the chicken noodle soup. That alone was worth coming for. It seemed just like homemade, good flavor, lots of veggies and chicken. It really hit the spot after eating "car food" all day. Atmosphere was ok. A little cold in temperature and ambience. Overall, our little family of three left content and pleased. We decided to eat here on our stop in Pendleton. So glad we did! All the food was fresh, full of flavor, and amazing! The kids meals were well portioned, with plenty of food for them. My kids loved the choices they were given for sides. Each kids meal also came with a trip to the "chicken coup" to pick their own ice cream or popsicle dessert. I ordered the half turkey club sandwich- which came with fresh-carved turkey! It came with a small salad and cup of soup. All the dressings were house made, and the honey mustard was among the best I've ever had! I even added some onto my turkey sandwich (it was that, or drink it. Lol). I ordered their self-proclaimed "world-famous" chicken noodle soup. I am not usually a big chicken noodle soup fan, but decided to give it a go and am SO HAPPY I did!!! It was AMAZING!!! The noodles were homemade and the chicken was obviously fresh off the bone. The flavor was divine. I wish I would've ordered a whole bowl!!! I finished off with a slice of carrot cake. It's been a couple of years since we've been here, but it seems to have only improved with age! We were seated quickly and our order was taken without any issues. My husband had shrimp Alfredo which delicious. I had turkey bacon croissant which really wasn't a club but was quite delicious. If you are traveling through or if you find yourself here -- Stop here! When you advertise yourself as the best in town, you'd better darn well be the best in town! Roosters is your average American style diner but what makes them unique in my opinion is their advertising. I was on a road trip coming back from Boise to Seattle when we started seeing the billboards. We passed three huge billboards along the highway all boasting about Roosters. It was early morning and we were hungry but when on a road trip, you want to try new experiences so we made it a point to seek out Roosters. Afterall, the billboards make it seem like you'll be making a mistake if you don't. We finally go to the exit and then found out that Roosters is a bit off of the beaten path. Not too far off but definitely conveniently next to the highway. It was a Monday morning and the crowd was thin to non existent but we figured that it was because it was a work day. Later we figured it was probably because of the food. I have to give them credit for the coffee. It was delicious and they even sell bags of it to go for you to make at home in our own coffee maker. The rest of our breakfast though was another story. I always order the chicken fried steak and eggs when trying out a new breakfast joint and this place does something that I've never seen done with this dish. First of all, the breading on my meat was way over cooked. Nearly black in some spots so either the oil in the fryers hasn't been changed in way too long or my steak was just in the fryer too long. I didn't complain because I actually like a few things over well and the actual steak inside of the breading was cooked nicely. Go figure. Here's the weird part. They put my steak on top of a puddle of gravy. Unconventional for sure and they lose points for it in my book because it wasn't easy to eat it that way and still have a nice amount of gravy in each bite. Our biggest complaint was the eggs. I had 2 over medium and my travel partner had an omelette and in both cases, the eggs looked as if they were deep fried in a vat of oil. There were literally puddle of oil on and around our eggs pooling up and dripping off. Not very appetizing to have to sop up oil from your eggs with a napkin before you can eat them. For as hungry as we both were when we entered this place, we both left over half of our food uneaten on our plates. I think that next time we make that road trip, we'll just stop at Denny's instead. Came here about 2 weeks ago on our cross-country trip. Even as a grown-up, I liked the paper and crayons they give at your table. I wish I could have had some of the free ice cream the lil rug rats get too. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. Both were good. Nice flavor. A bit pricey for the simplicity of the meal, and the smallish portions, but overall nice. My husband got the Chicken Cesar salad. It came with the salad dressing on the side - that's a big no-no in my hubby's world. He likes an even amount of dressing coverage and trying to toss this salad in the small plate given was frustrating. I finally told him to ask them to take it back and toss it themselves. They did, but it literally took 15 mins for us to get this salad back because the server decided to leave the salad in the kitchen and come back for it 15 mins later. Ugh, all they did was toss it so I'm not sure why she didn't wait 10 seconds...the place was practically empty. The only other things I can recall are that there were a lot of screaming and crying children, the strawberry lemonade was too sweet and overpriced, and overall the prices are a tiny bit too steep for the location. read more

I had that along with Chicken Strips and Fries. They also hand dip their own Chicken Strips in a light batter and man! Are they great! Service was great and friendly and place was clean. Took the Mrs, youngest daughter and Aunt and Uncle here and ALL were pleased and kept talking about it long after we left the restaurant (that is a good sign and a sure sign you picked a winner!). I haven't been everywhere quite yet, but it's *probably* the best food in Pendleton. Their chicken noodle soup is to die for and between that and the Chicken Caesar Salad, Chicken Alfredo, pretty much anything with Chicken in it, you'll find delectable. The service was homely and great. Our waiter was a cool dude and very conversational. It's a bit pricy here, but it's a relief alternative to the fast food that's all over this block. Also crayons. This would have gotten two stars but for the young lady who raised the ratiing by a star due to her diligence and nose for good customer service. We were seated about 8:00 to a not full restaurant. Two servers were wrapping napkins around tableware. We sat there for over five minutes before the hostess who was one of the ones wrapping the tableware came over, "I am so sorry I thought she would have helped you by now.." and took our order. I ordered a cup of soup with my dinner and when she brought it she said, "I didn't charge you for the soup because of your wait." I had one of the burgers with grilled chicken substituted, it was okay. I also had the onion rings and they were horrible. The fryer must not have been hot enough because they were soggy and when you squeezed them the oil came out. My wife had a taco salad and they substituted the chicken fajita meat for the beef, she said it was okay. We were so hungry most anything would have sufficed. Roosters is not a place we would return to if in Pendleton again, we would try another spot and trust the food and service would be better. read more

I came here for pick-up after not eating for 12 hours and starving. The smoked chicken penne tasted like heaven at that moment. However after calming down and microwaving it the next day, it unfortunately didn't taste as amazing =/ . But on the bright side at least it allowed me to write a much more unbiased review. The penne is $15 but comes in a huge portion size! I think I could have split it into 3 meals. I loved the mushrooms, chicken, cranberries, cashews and spinach all mixed into it because it really brought lots of texture to the dish. I loved the creamy taste overall but I really would have liked it more if it wasn't dripping in oil. I didn't realize how bad it was until I microwaved it the next day and there was literally a layer of oil sitting at the bottom of the bowl, I guess that's the price you pay for creamy, pasta goodness. For my health sake, I think this is a good one time try. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade which was pretty sweet but there was a lot of strawberry pulp at the bottom so I'll forgive the extreme sweetness for that. At least I know it's not strawberry syrup. I agree with other reviewers, I would say it's an average American style diner. Nothing crazy amazing but not horrible either. But for the hefty price, I don't think I would come that often. read more

Chicken fried steak was excellent! Breaded and cooked well, not dry like most. Gravy was flavorful and there was plenty of it. My wife got one of the specials, a steak and mushroom omelette that she shared a taste of it with me. Very good and something different. Service was good and friendly.
