Had the Alfredo with shrimp added. The shrimps tasted like they were frozen with a slight bleach taste to them. They must've just been ready to turn bad. Other than that my appetizer was good my drinks were good and service was pretty good. Entrée bad! read more

This place if FABULOUS!!! This restaurant recently opened and replaced a steak house that was not that great. The new owners know how to do food! The food is outstanding and of a quality that would garner a much higher price tag in downtown St Pete, the beach areas or Hyde Park or Westchase in Tampa. The owner and bartender greet you and make you feel at home. I recently tried the Seasoned Sirloin Salad and was so impressed that I had to write this review. My friend and I intend on visiting this restaurant 3 - 4 times a week just to try other things on the menu. They have a $12.99 Prime Rib special on Sunday that is definitely worth the trip. Largo doesn't have that many great restaurants and this one stands out as GOURMET ALL THE WAY. Once they get music on the outstanding outdoor patio, you won't be able to get into the place. Arrived about 3PM for a late lunch and was delighted with the service and the food. I started with the lobster bisque, very flavorful and rich, We ordered ribs for my GF which she described as "great". I had the salmon on a cedar plank, cooked just right with veggies for sides. The staff was very helpful, especially Vaughn, the bartender who served us. The decor was appropriate for the theme. They have an outdoor patio that looked very nice. We will definitely return to try more of the menu. read more

My coworkers and I were in town on business and looking for a new place to try. After checking out the reviews and trying to avoid touristy seafood restaurants we settled on Roosterfish because it was on the route back to our hotel. Do NOT let the tacky décor fool you, the food was amazing! I paid the "market price" for the grouper sandwich and I will say it is the best thing I ate in my three weeks in the area. Not sure if there's an experienced chef in the kitchen or not but it sure tasted like it. read more

Our family has been back several times in the past few months. Kind of reminds of a seafood version of Kally K's in Dunedin. Really a hit with the seniors crowd. Good selection of seafood at reasonable prices. They usually have fresh grouper but not many other local fish. read more

I had the Salmon Scampi and it was phenomenal. This place gets 4 stars ONLY because I sat in my booth for about 12 minutes without anyone noticing me. I'd be interested to check out the rest of the menu, particularly, the Salmon Oscar, which is basically salmon with crabmeat stuffing, asparagus and hollandaise sauce (yum!). I'm gonna assume that I just happened to order the wrong thing. This place may be quite alright for your basic seafood dishes (fried).....but what they sell as "Piccata style" is a sorry excuse for a puddle of butter on the plate. My fish was ok, the veggies nice and the mashed potatoes good as well, it's just the blob of fat they called a sauce that was a total turnoff. If you don't know how to make a certain sauce without it breaking then just don't do it. To top it off our service was lacking in every aspect possible. Our mid-week lunch turned into an hour PLUS 15 minute long affair because the food took forever to come out and the waitress, for the most part, was nowhere to be seen and unfriendly/crabby to top it off. After she dropped off our checks it took her a full 8 minutes to come back and get payment. There was only one other table seated along with ours, so being busy was NOT the reason for being this slow/unattentive. Cheap prices, cheap service. Too bad. read more

My first trip to Roosterfish Grill, and I was looking forward to it as everyone said how good the food and service was. Our group had reservations for 8 at 6:50, and we arrived about 5-10 minutes early. The first challenge was that it took them until 7:20 to get us a table; yet the walk in's were seated before us, albeit they had smaller groups. When they finally seated us, one of the Managers apologized, and gave us a free order of Rooster Fins. Then the wait began again. Seven of the group ordered drinks from the bar, and I ordered Iced Tea. It took forever for the drinks to come from the bar. The last drink to arrive was the Pitcher of Beer, as they had to go find a Pitcher. Then we ordered food and waited again. You can tell it is going to be bad when people that came in after you get seated, get their food, and are on the way out before you even get your meal. When we finally did get the food, and I am speaking for myself here, I got the wrong sides, and the main dish, which was one of the Specials, was overdone. Others at the table had food that was cold to the touch, their orders shorted. The Manager that seated us came by and stated "I understand there are some issues, do we need to have things heated up"; and by that time no one wanted to spend it back, as we felt it would end up being delivered for Breakfast. Towards the end of our meal, the General Manager came by and gave us 2 cards for a free appetizer, for our next visit, for our inconvenience. This puzzled us, as we had 4 checks. By the time we finished our meals, the place was nearly empty, as it was within an hour of closing time. I eat out a lot since I travel for work, and by far, I would rate this as the worst meal and service I have had in years. If asked if I wanted to go back, I would ask for alternative restaurants. Also the attitude of Management seemed to be their jobs would be easier if it wasn't for having to deal with the Customers, and they did not want to do anything to appease us for having to wait, and having cold or overcooked meals. read more

I have driven by this place numerous times on my way to the Chinese buffet but after passing this restaurant yet again, something told me to go back and give it a try. One reason may have been because it is usually PACKED, but on this balmy Sunday @ 3 in the afternoon, it was NOT. I am so glad I drove by, did an illegal U-turn and went back! I absolutely LOVED the ambiance and the nautical decor of the inside and the way it sits right next to a small lake. Upon leaving, I watched the denizens of the lake for awhile and was amazed to see all kinds of BIG fish and BIG turtles! The food was amazing--esp. the crab cakes and the lobster bisque. I also tried the pink, grilled shrimp with drawn butter and it tasted just like lobster!!! What I liked even more than the food ( if this is possible ) was the prices!!! OMG--I could not believe how low they were! Esp in this day and age! I am so glad to have given Roosterfish a try and will definitely be dining there again!!! PS--I came at a good time--when I was leaving some time after 4, the restaurant was starting to fill up again. read more

My wife and I went here for some appetizers and drinks. It was our first time there. We sat at the bar. We ordered conch fritter's, shrimp cocktail and jalapeño poppers. All was very good. Prices were great and the service excellent. Nice selection of draft beer.the bar was very nice and comfortable and the rest of the restaurant looked really cool. Fun place. The indoor/outdoor seating area looked neat. Overall we loved the place and will be back for dinner. read more

Third time and never again. Wine is $3 a glass because the bottle only costs that,get some good wine! Jerk scallops had way to much seasoning, and fried pollock more breading than fish! Just haven't liked the entrees,coleslaw and fries are good.This place needs a female bartender to liven up the place. read more

Was pretty disappointed, we were in Tampa for the weekend and decided to take a drive and try this place. First off waiting to get our food was quite long and when we got our food it was less than great. My gf ordered the coconut breaded fish which was more breading than actual fish, I ordered some shrimp and they were only ok. While I have always enjoyed the food at this place, I was not pleased at all when the staff recommend seating on the outside veranda. They never mentioned that they allow smokers to congregate and puff on the veranda, including the owner, and the smell and smoke waft over the outside diners. I left with a nausiating headache, a stuffed up nose, and a negative attitude. I mentioned the issue to the hostess on the way out, and she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. What a bummer! I'll never eat on the porch again, and it will be awhile before I even consider going back because of the lack of consideration. read more

Went to Rooster Fish tonight to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with a party of 6. We had reservations for 5:00 on the deck for a group of 6. When we arrived they told us oh the patio is full we can't sit there, but we will give you a table at a window. Well, it was a beautiful night and since we had a reservation, we really wanted the deck. So, we asked if we could squeeze our 6 into the 4 table. No. That would not work they said. So, upon checking out the situation on the deck we see the empty 4 table and another one where a couple was finishing up. We ask how long they will be....OH MY...the owner was very upset that we inquired and told us to never again ask his guests how long they will be! GEESH! The guests did not mind at all and it was clear they were done and then the other table said they were told they were seated at a certain table b/c they were using the other tables for a reservation. Bottom line: owner did not care about accommodating us at all. Was very rude. On a good note: margaritas were fabulous, food was so so...I will not be back with that owner there!!! read more

My husband and myself decided to try a new place after moving here a few months ago. We had a feeling after arriving at the restaurant on a friday evening with only a few table filled that the food was terrible to say the least. I had ordered the wood planked samon with sides of garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. The samon tasted like it was sitting in the fridge/freezer for a year, and the garlic mashed potatoes had hard pieces of potato in it, garlic fumes were coming out of my nose, and the broccoli was brown. My husband had ordered grouper, again it tasted like they had it a year ago sitting around waiting to be eaten the fries were a joke-just a handful, and the corn was the kind in the frozen section of the grocery store that was mushy. I would never ever recommend this place, and wonder how they are still open......What is up with the paper towels hanging over each table on a wire hanger?Tacky,tacky,tacky. UGH.............I would rather starve. read more
