I paid Donna of All West Plumbing over $600 to check for leaks under my house and other areas such…read moreas the 2 bathrooms and kitchen. She did not go under my house; she merely opened the access space cover from an interior bedroom and took 2 pictures on her cell phone. My house crawl space is lined with heavy-duty plastic. Then she checked for leaks in both bathrooms and the kitchen. None were noted. I explained that since I had some kitchen remodeling done, I had lost some pressure in my kitchen. I had her replace my upstairs bath faucet, and she told me I now had better pressure. She was to return after I contacted her, "Donna", and told her the pressure had not changed. She did return, and I gave her another shower head I had purchased. She put it on and told me the pressure was the same as before. The next morning, I took a shower and noticed much greater pressure than it before and explained I was very happy with it. I did ask her if she checked the water pressure in my house. She told me she had to buy a gauge to test it. She never checked the pressure in my system, even though she told me she already had a pressure gauge and didn't need one. Later, Donna made some adjustments to my kitchen faucet, and there had been no problems with it. After the changes, I noted the pressure was lower, the pull-down faucet head for rinsing was much shorter, and she had changed the hot water and cold water to what she thought was a better angle. I never complained about it. I didn't tell her to make any changes in the kitchen at all, but I did not complain about it. Donna returned one more time for some type of adjustment, and when I asked her how much I owed, as I was willing to pay her, she told me no charge. I believe she did this as she overcharged me to begin with. My bad.... I never asked her what her hourly rate was. Finally, I ran into Donna in a public Bar and simply asked what would cause my faucet to now drip in the kitchen after I shut it off. The faucet neck in the kitchen is loose now. My text messages addressed this issue and I simply asked her to tell me how to tighten the faucet neck so I could fix it myself. She immediately went off on me very boisterously in front of other patrons, telling me that I was known to be a complainer and she was not going to return because of her not charging me for her last visit, which only took her about 15 minutes. Since all of this has happened, she has ghosted me and will not respond to my text messages or phone call. I have saved the text messages if anyone would like to see them. I have not run into her publicly. This writing is to the best of my recollection of the events. I would not recommend All West Plumbing, and specifically Donna, based on the way she treated me. This business is part-time with the owner operating from his home with his son apprenticing. I had…read morea walk-in shower temperature mixing valve that was failing and I couldn't get the handle set screw removed to inspect it. This rounded out the Allen head socket and I informed the owner about this when I scheduled. First the good. The owner scheduled me directly for a few days out, availability was good. He kept the appointment on time and communicated that he was on his way. He is competent, experienced, and licensed with the State of Idaho. He fixed the problem by replacing the mixing cartridge but had to destroy the handle to remove it because of the set screw damage. The finish quality is good. The bad: he is not totally transparent about his pricing. When scheduling, I asked what his hourly rate was and he refused to disclose that, telling me that he prefers to work on a unit price basis and gave me an estimate of $325 for the job with a $175 call-out fee minimum. When he arrived, he determined that he would have to drill out the set screw and buy a new shower kit (head, finish nipple, faring, valve handle, and valve faring plate. At that point I should have asked him what he was going to charge for the extra work. When he was done with the job, he paused, contemplating what he was going to charge me and ended up doubling the price. He did not detail the cost of materials or time on the invoice so there is no way of knowing if he marked materials up or whether he was covering time until his next job. So, if you want a competent plumber but one who may take advantage of your situation and charge a price with a comfortable profit for him at no risk, then he is your man. I was probably overcharged (on a competitive basis) but the job was only a couple of hours so it was limited in any case.
