I believe the sole purpose of parks like this is to improve a child's socialization skills. As you can see from the pictures, the equipment wasn't your regular sliding board, seesaw, or swing set. The colors and the shapes of these items are to capture the child's eyes and lead to interaction. I don't know if I got any pictures, but musical instruments were place in the play area for the free spirit child. Also, there is a child museum on the grounds, which we didn't get a chance to visit, but the children had fun, and that was the goal.

The lake was huge and has boat ramps. We saw some locals fishing on the lake. There are also plenty of trails available for hiking and mountain biking. We only had time to explore one of the trails in the woods and were lucky enough to see so many wild lives such as deer, armadillos and fireflies! I would be here daily if I live in Meridian.

There are also miles of trails / mountain bike trails in the woods surrounding the water that is decently maintained and marked. The trails remind me of a Lone Star Trail or Huntsville State Park and are easy enough for a family to walk through but interesting enough to mountain bike or trail run through. It smells like the piney woods and still feels wild enough inside the forest to make it fun and interesting. We saw a bunch of wildlife; deer, armadillos, fireflies, etc on the hike and did not get to explore all of it. There's also boat launches and easy and free public parking. A great spot if you're ever in Meridian or if you live here, you better be here 5 times a week.

The docking area appears to be bigger, too. It's much quieter and very relaxed on this side, too. I saw some of the trees cut down, but I think that was from the storm, and they had to be cut down. But as always, the positive side is that the eye can see the whole body of water.

Once I picked up lunch, they had great tables for us to dine after a good playtime. The bathrooms were clean and I would recommend this park for anyone in our same situation. I wish we had this park in our neighborhood. Great stop if you are looking for a good place to get some energy out for the kiddos.
