This is a very nice little park, kind of hidden away in plain sight. It fronts on the beach road…read moreand looks out over the Gulf. As the name implies, there are cannons and memorials to local veterans and Katrina victims. Very respectful and nicely done. Lots of trees and shade. There are public restrooms available. There is a playground and a splash pad and lots of benches to sit and take it all in. If you are a walker (like me), a walking trail meanders through the park and has exercise stations every so often. It's more of a trail/path than a track. The surface is loose, recycled tires or rubber mulch so it's nice for a stroll but you won't get any speed up. Since the park is small, you won't get any distance unless you walk a zillion laps around. I was there on a Saturday morning and there was a Craft fair/Farmer's market going on, with a lot of vendors, artists, and growers all peddling their wares. There were some tasty-looking food trucks too. I didn't ask but it seems like the market is a regular event. It may be every Saturday, and certainly weather-dependent, but I didn't get to find out how often.

From yelping there wasn't much parks with good reviews so we decided to try this out. There wasn't much photos from other reviews on this park so I'm fixing that. I'm pretty impressed because it's just the perfect spot. Lots of shade for mommy's to lay a picnic nap down and let the kids play close by. Also glad to carry a picnic mat in reasons like today. There is also a under 3 play area, haven't tried it out but looks small but good. Splash pad is near by but not open. FYI... if your coming from Gulfport and needing to get lunch on the way to park there is only a McDonald's and Burger King. McDonald's on a picnic mat made this such a perfect day!

This is such a hidden treasure on the Coast! So much fun packed into a unsuspecting and quirky…read moremuseum. If you live on the coast with kids a membership is such a worthwhile investment. It is so inexpensive and a great place for all ages. Even as an adult, I enjoy and learn from the museum. They continually have relevant events and special weeks/days throughout the year with themed celebrations and activities. As soon as you child is mobile, this would be a fun museum to visit regularly. We go once a week and spend an hour or two in one of the many themed rooms/areas and I don't see my child ever tiring of visiting here. There is an outdoor playground, outside "kids street" mini town, and inside there is a dedicated area for younger children, and themed areas including STEM, outer space, grocery, crafts, and many more. Now keep in mind that membership is CHEAP so don't expect the latest and greatest toys, activities, and technology. Cleanliness isn't stellar but I have never had any issues here with staff, hygiene, or my child being bored. I would highly recommend a membership here over the aquarium! So much more to do for all ages and a great rainy day activity.

For what was working and present it was ok, nothing too crazy. Probably wouldn't recommend for 7+read more
