A lot of people were enjoying taking their sailboats on the lake (or rather, the reservoir) it added to the overall atmosphere and gave the lake (err, reservoir) a vibe more fitting for a painting. If you are in the Jackson, Mississippi area, I would definitely recommend checking out this park. I will give Old Trace Park five stars overall and it definitely has my recommendation.

I believe the sole purpose of parks like this is to improve a child's socialization skills. As you can see from the pictures, the equipment wasn't your regular sliding board, seesaw, or swing set. The colors and the shapes of these items are to capture the child's eyes and lead to interaction. I don't know if I got any pictures, but musical instruments were place in the play area for the free spirit child. Also, there is a child museum on the grounds, which we didn't get a chance to visit, but the children had fun, and that was the goal.

They have updated the playground equipment and it is now a really nice area for kids to swings, slide, etc. There are tennis courts and a basketball court. There's a large covered pavilion with picnic tables if you are looking to have a gathering here. You can even reserve the pavilion at no charge in advance if you are going to have a large gathering such as a family reunion, birthday party, etc. Throughout the park there are grills and picnic tables. Many of them are in shaded areas. The city does a good job at maintaining the grounds. I just hope people continue to be considerate and pick up after themselves and put trash where it belongs so this park can continue to be enjoyed for many more generations to come.

It does have wildlife, great scenery, smooth roads and plenty of historic little pull offs. Lots of history, even at only 50mph it was enjoyable and pretty. Also can be somewhat monotonous and boring to do all at once.
