The Parklike Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444-mile scenic byway through Mississippi, Alabama & Tennessee. Today it's managed by the National Park Service, connecting Nashville to Natchez with a 50 mph speed limit. Rode the whole thing from northern terminus to the south, all 444 miles. It's does not have, stop signs, traffic lights, guardrail, berms, ramps, telephone or power poles, no orange barrels, billboards, semis or traffic at all! a perfect slow relaxing ride. It does have wildlife, great scenery, smooth roads and plenty of historic little pull offs. Lots of history, even at only 50mph it was enjoyable and pretty. Also can be somewhat monotonous and boring to do all at once. read more

"It's like driving on a golf course!" - One sentence summary courtesy of my husband (the driver). This is an incredible National Park Service maintained parkway. The road is in excellent condition, bathroom stops are plentiful (and well stocked, including soap, and clean), there are many pull offs for picnicking, history lessons and hiking. You can't ask for much more. The trade off is that it's 2-lane and the speed limit is 50mph. That's why we decided to take it. Our drive from Nashville, TN to Jackson, MS took 6 hours. That included stops, plus a side excursion into Tupelo to visit Elvis' birthplace and eat an amazing burger at the Neon Pig. But it was the most stress-free and relaxing 8 hours we have ever had on the road. read more

There is a really cool Cypress swamp trail. The Cypress Swamp is located on the Natchez Trace Parkway at milepost 122.0. The trail itself is about a 1.5 mile loop, so really short. Overall, I enjoyed walking around and being up close to the Cypress. The drive on the parkway is also great and you can stop along the road and just do some short hikes into the woods. read more

I have been all over up and down the entire length of the Natchez Trace Parkway. It looks like a paved road with some undeveloped trees on either side for all of it pretty much just like this section of it does. They will have the occasional historical marker or location but mostly it is just a paved road that has some spots to stop off and look at. read more

Natchez Trace in Mississippi is close to 440 miles . It runs through 3 states , Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee. If you are a hiker and going through the Mississippi half be cautious of the fog like conditions that tend to blur the vision while driving on the road that leads to the walking trails. An umbrella or ponchos may come in handy if hiking the trail . read more

I love going out there for a quick or sometimes long sit back. Especially since most of my family is into fishing and just laying out by the lake. I also like how you can literally go out there by yourself and run and just have some quiet time to yourself. There are also people you might bump into, but you won't mind because at least you know that you're not alone! read more
