I want to call this an interactive playground because the children, including my niece and nephew,…read morewere all playing with each other and entertained by the equipment. I believe the sole purpose of parks like this is to improve a child's socialization skills. As you can see from the pictures, the equipment wasn't your regular sliding board, seesaw, or swing set. The colors and the shapes of these items are to capture the child's eyes and lead to interaction. I don't know if I got any pictures, but musical instruments were place in the play area for the free spirit child. Also, there is a child museum on the grounds, which we didn't get a chance to visit, but the children had fun, and that was the goal.

A lot of people were enjoying taking their sailboats on the lake (or rather, the reservoir) it added to the overall atmosphere and gave the lake (err, reservoir) a vibe more fitting for a painting. If you are in the Jackson, Mississippi area, I would definitely recommend checking out this park. I will give Old Trace Park five stars overall and it definitely has my recommendation.

There's a loop walking trail that's very nice and paved. If you come when the azaleas are in full bloom in March, it is so beautiful. Pink, white, light pink of azaleas all throughout the park. Seeing the large pond with the ducks is pure tranquility. It's so nice to relax while watching nature. There's a boardwalk that you can walk on. Clean restrooms on site under a pavilion. Huge parking lot too on both sides. I am telling you I was so amazed that a park like this exists here. I'd normally find a ton of parks like this in Houston. I'm glad the City of Flowood built this for the community. Amazing. I brought my boyfriend here and he loved it too! I didn't map out how many miles you can accumulate by walking the trail the first time, but I think that if you walk multiple times on the trail you can max out on 10k steps. Come check it out! It's great for exercise and there are always squirrels running around. I also like to take some bread to feed the few ducks who reside here. The paved track is not the smoothest, so watch out for the bumps and cracks. Because of the wooded area, this may not be the best place to walk during the summer because it looks like it is a haven for mosquitos. There is a small playground area for the kiddos, but this would not be my park of choice to bring them to play. The places off the track get very wet and flooded with even a little rainfall. So, as for a park for family fun, this gets 1 star from me. If you're looking to get in some walking, it gets the 3 stars.
