My friends and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time, and I'm SO happy we finally got to go! Definitely make a reservation in advance- we had to book almost a month in advance. When you enter the restaurant it feels like you're transported out of Milwaukee. We kept joking that it felt like we were in an episode of the White Lotus! Everything from the artwork to the seating was put together so well. For food we got the royal flower dumplings, which tasted strongly of peanut, but were tasty. What can I say that hasn't already been said... this was the best meal and dining experience I've had in recent memory. We did not have a reservation, but called while in route to see if there was space at the bar and the hostess confirmed we could be seated right away, yay! The restaurant itself is BEAUTIFUL, it feels like you're being transported outside of Mke and soon as you step inside. We ordered cocktails, the tuna platter, chashu bao buns and the famously stunning pea flower dumplings to start. I'd recommend either the dumplings OR the bao buns as the flavor profiles are very similar and wouldn't recommend them together but would highly recommend each on their own! The tuna platter was both my partner and I's favorite part of the meal. The Otoro was a great treat for a special occasion. We joked about ordering more as dessert, but they don't sell it on its own by the piece sadly - understandably. For entrees I ordered drunken noodles with shrimp and it's was amazing. The portion size was generous and I just enjoyed my leftovers for lunch. My partner ordered the crab curry noodle dish and that was also incredible and had a good amount of spice. This place lives up to the hype! Room Service brings a Vegas or LA style dining experience to the Milwaukee area. The food is served in a small plates style aside from the entrees. I've been here in Christmas Eve and Valentine's days. They always have a beautiful ambiance to comatte the special holidays. The host see the best. I took my husband here for his birthday as he loves Asian cuisine. We were both instantly impressed by the ambiance and decor! It's stunning inside. It was very busy and though we had a reservation, we had to wait a bit because of some awful, entitled couple who kept asking to move their tables and were complaining about everything. Not sure what they had to complain about because the staff were extremely kind and accommodating. Because we had to wait I was offered a free glass of yummy champagne which I gladly accepted! The drinks were really outstanding! Delicious and unique cocktails that were a little too easy to drink :) the food was both gorgeous and very good. We've been hearing so much chatter about this restaurant and couldn't wait to try it! We sat outside, which is the only reason I'm giving this review 4 stars instead of 5 - the inside is SO vibey and well-done, but unfortunately we got our reservation mixed up so had to be seated on the patio. It's cute, but lacks ambience and the chairs weren't very comfy, tables were very small and required some serious Tetris to fit our food & drinks. Aside from that, the drink, food and service was too notch!! Their presentation was exceptional, everything thoughtfully presented on bamboo platters and creative displays. For drinks I got the Last Train to Chiang Mai which was basically a lychee martini (delicious!) and my husband got the From JFK to Tokyo (he thought it was a bit too sweet for his liking). For food we really leaned on the server to guide us and he did a phenomenal job helping us select the Royal Flower Dumplings, Kinnickinnic Crisp Shell (BEST thing we ordered), Nobu Spicy Salmon Crispy, Chashu Bao Buns, Namyapu (also one of our faves and beautiful presentation), and the Bay View Classic Set hand rolls. Location of the restaurant was happening and fun in Bayview and we walked over to The Lost Whale for a cocktail after dinner. Room Service might be the most beautiful space in Milwaukee. The owner, who is also the designer, architect, mixologist and chef created a magnificent room. It rivals what I've seen in Thailand, NYC, or London. Milwaukee has a new hot spot. My wife and I had reservations for early evening, but chose to sit at the bar. Room Service's staff is exemplary, brought in from NYC, by way of Bangkok. They are gracious, if a bit disingenuous, but I'm overly aware so don't be put off. Everything is a show, more Las Vegas than Chiang Mai. Drinks are done with a flourish and are gorgeous. The dishes are like flour arrangements, beautiful to look at. However, tastes vary from okay to good. Nothing knocked my socks off. My gyoza came with a crispy layer, but the dumpling themselves were not crisp and were greasy. Namya Pu, a crab curry, I liked, but it was void of much crab, and the curry was not memorable. However, I have eaten a lot of curry dishes in my more than seven decades on this planet. Room Sevice Pad Thai was a work of art and tasted good. Room Service () (Rū m sexrwis), is a fantastic addition to the Milwaukee dining scene. Most people will have a fantastic experience. However, I don't enjoy Las Vegas, and I'm more into substance than show. 99% of the people reading this review will rave about their meal at Room Service. A cozy Asian fusion in the heart of Bay View. This place feels so bougie without *completely* breaking the bank. We booked our 2-person reservation a month in advance as this place is still getting so much traction! As soon as you enter, you instantly feel like you've been transported to somewhere outside of Wisconsin. It's modern, elegant, and very well-decorated. We started with the flower dumplings (2/5). I was not the biggest fan of these as they tasted more like a dessert than a "savory" dumpling. and I was not expecting that so early on in the meal. For our main course items, we split: -Samurai signature set (3.5/5) - I enjoyed it for the most part and really appreciated the different flavors they're incorporating into each piece but nothing too special on my end. -Hung lay short rib (4/5) - so yummy! It reminds me of what my mom used to make when I was a kid called bo kho. Just a fancier and more flavorful version. Delicious over rice! -Somtam kaitod (bangkok style) (4/5) - I loved the presentation for this. I think this is a really good dish to explore what papaya salad is if you've ever been curious at a mom and pop Thai restaurant. Most of the time, their descriptions are very vague and doesn't really say what is all in the papaya salad which people might find pungent. Me, personally, the funkier the better! We have been excited to try this place since it opened, and it has been pretty busy since then! We set up a reservation a couple weeks out, since we heard it can be hard to get a table. We probably would've been fine with just two of us to get a spot at the bar but could've been waiting if a spot wasn't available. They are still in their soft opening time as they narrow in on the menu and train staff but you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The staff was all very friendly and helped elevate the whole experience! The restaurant is gorgeous inside and out, tying together the Thai and Japanese cultures. A slightly intimate setting with lower lighting, but closer together tables. It was nice to scope out what other tables were getting before we ordered. The menu was available by QR code at the table, but did have physical copies available upon request. I enjoyed that the menu included pictures of the food, but not for all of the food. We were excited about everything wanted to try a bit of it all. The main part of the menu is split up by Thailand or Japan inspired dishes, pulling in the flavors of each country. Room Service is a very chic and upscale restaurant in the heart of bay view. Once you walk in, you'll notice the amazing mural behind the full bar. They also have a rooftop patio which is not open to the public yet. The restaurant is intimate at night with colors of green, black and gold palettes. There is also a sushi bar in the back of the restaurant as well. Staff were very attentive with service and great with making recommendations. We ordered the chashu bao buns (pork belly). Pork belly was cooked very tender with a great marinade flavor. The Kinnickinnic Crisp shells are wonton shells with grilled beef slices and kimchi slaw. A great appetizer! Next, we ordered Somtam Kaitod. The presentation was photo worthy and it was delicious! You get papaya salad, fried chicken and sticky rice. Which all complemented each other. Lastly, dessert is a must! Especially after those spicy dishes. They currently only have one option for dessert. It is the Mango Sticky Rice with Vanilla Ice Cream. Overall, it was a nice experience. However my friends and I agreed the service could have been better. I made a reservation a month out and could get a 8pm seating only. When I tried to call a few times the day of the reservation, no one picked up the phone...we were hoping for a last minute cancellation to move up the reservation, if possible. When I call other high end restaurants, they answer during the day time. When we arrived, our table was not ready. We were 45 mins late to be seated because the previous customers would not leave. Then it caused the waitress/kitchen to rush us after we were seated late. I think if people know there is a 90 minute dinner, then it's ok to remind them. The restaurant Manager did give us a round of complimentary champagne, but we wanted to have a relaxing time for a much anticipated dinner. The food and ambiance were 5 stars, though I think it's important for the restaurant staff to keep to the times and manage customers proactively so others don't experience what we did. I had a rare (for my ratings) five star dining experience! Service, atmosphere, and food were all top notch. We were early for our reservation and invited to sit for a drink on the roof - very small but cute! They came upstairs to collect us when our table was ready and sent a text. The last train was gorgeous - similar to a lychee martini in style. It was a tad sweet. We continued with the royal flower dumplings and kai tod hat yai. Both were very good! The dumplings have a beautiful presentation! I recommend dipping it in the tamari to cut the bit of sweetness in the filling. The chicken was such a nice portion and deliciously crispy. Then we had the chashu bao buns. Two perfectly portioned saucy meaty bao. These were very tasty and weren't too fatty versus meaty (often my concern with pork belly). The ocean fried rice - very good and filled with seafood, but felt heavy on the squid in our portion. The sauce with it was delicious. The star of the show for me was the namyapu. I'll be back specifically for this spicy crab filled curry. Rich and delicious (even over some of the fried rice!). The matcha creme brûlée was a nice way to finish. Here is a wake up call to every Thai restaurant in the MKE area... the game is up. Room Service popped up out of nowhere and started doing things right. Yes, I'm about the 40th Yelp Elite to review it, but I've been to Thailand several times and know what good Thai food can be. Only the Appleton Thai place hits this high of marks in quality. There are several vegetarian options, and the service was outstanding. The presentation of the food and the care of putting together a world-class meal is appreciated. I started out with those blue blossoms wrapped in lettuce leaves. Divine. Then some veggie spring rolls. Sublime with a hint of white pepper. Finally, the Pad See Eww, complete with little mushrooms, tofu, and a host of veggies. The only cons are how long it takes to book a reservation. But, the fact that it is within driving distance at all makes me smile. read more

The entire experience was 10/10 - we celebrated an early Valentine's Day and this restaurant is truly something Milwaukee has been missing. From the hot towels you get upon seating to the attentive staff, the service is very high quality and worth every penny. This is the first time we dined at Room Service. Given the popularity of this restaurant, we made our reservation way ahead about a month before. The exterior and interior of the place are designed with large windows and clean lines and lit up brightly, and the Thai and Japanese artifacts are new and neatly lined up, giving customers a sense of modernity and luxury. The tables and seats were arranged tightly, suggesting that the restaurant was trying to maximize the number of seats even at the expense of some inconvenience for its servers and customers. The customers are expected to view the menus by scanning a QR code on the table. The online menus for food and drinks are beautifully designed and have both a PDF version and an eBook version. The eBook version fits the screen of a smartphone better, but we were not made aware of this. We picked the regular PDF version and needed to change the orientation of our phones or enlarge the images of the file to see the menu clearly. It seemed that a few other customers near us also struggled with the online menu, slowing down the ordering process. The number of staff seemed adequate to serve the large number of customers in the restaurant. Our server appeared familiar with the menu, although two other staff members gave us conflicting information about whether the mochi contained lactose (it did not). We ordered only one alcoholic drink, because one of us is intolerant of both alcohol and lactose and the two non-alcoholic drinks on the menu both contained milk. The drink we had - Last Train to ChiangMai - was very tasty. Our interest was mainly in Thai food that day. So, we ordered only two Japanese appetizers - Zesty Sashimi Salad and Seaweed Salad. The two Japanese items tasted fine, but neither was distinguished from similar dishes that one could get from other Japanese restaurants in town. The Thai dishes we ordered were Royal Flower Dumplings, Ka-Phrao Moo Krob (crispy pork), and Lanna Khao Soi Kai (noodles in coconut-based curry soup with braised chicken thigh). The purple dumplings were sweet like desserts but tasted unique and gave us an abundance of flavors in the mouth when chewed together with the accompanying flowers and vegetables (including cilantro). The crispy pork came with several vegetables, including peppers, onions and basil; it was also very flavorful, although some pieces of pork were a bit chewy and not very crispy. The chicken curry noodle soup had a wide variety of ingredients, and the flavor was rich and balanced; this was the dish we both liked most. For dessert, we ordered mochi, which came in 3 varieties that had strawberry, mocha and sesame fillings, respectively; they were not too sweet and tasted very good. In short, we very much enjoyed both the dining environment and the food. Of the dishes we tried, we found the Thai ones truly distinguished and tasted as good as the best Thai food we've had elsewhere. As Thai food is my favorite type of food, I was very excited to try this new Bay View restaurant combining Japanese and Thai cuisine. The atmosphere walking in was super fancy. Lots of Buddha and Japanese mountain influences. We waiting maybe 3 minutes for a spot and sat near where some chefs were making sushi. There was bit of distance though so we were staring at them or the food. The royal flower dumpling (chor muang) was both beautiful and tasty. You can't taste the butterfly pea flower. It's like if a peanut butter cup was savory. Don't forget the cilantro under the lettuce. The khow soi was very good, almost as good I had in Thailand once. Probably between generic medium and hot salsa for spiciness. The Pork belly was waiting on the khow soi possibly and in between lukewarm and hot. This one they asked for spicy level and we said medium but it wasn't very spicy. They never refilled the water and could learn the menu better. They are still in the soft opening. Solid 4/5 if they improve on that. Fancy appeal without the fancy prices. It was $62 for an app and 2 entrees. They do have higher priced entrees though. Hands down could be my new favorite Milwaukee Restaurant! We've been looking to get a reservation for a few months and got one right before the holidays. Definitely pre plan about a month out if you want a reservation at a prime time or have a larger party. I started out with a Last train to Chiang Mal cocktail which was an amazing lychee martini-esque drink. Not too sweet and very light. We tried 2 of the other drink specials which were not as good. We ordered a bunch of apps for the table. Crab rangoons were a fan favorite with an amazing sauce. The chicken satay on a bun was a showstopper. Perfectly seasoned, great satay sauce and great spice. A must order! Gyoza were also amazing and the presentation was fun with a bit of crunch from the lace top. Royal flower dumplings were good but make sure you like peanuts if you order. Nobu spicy salmon was our least favorite app. A bit fishy so we probably wouldn't order again. We ordered the Lanna Khao Soi Kai. Amazing broth, perfectly cooked chicken that was falling off the bone. Good level of spice but not overly spicy. Service was great and very helpful telling us her favorites. We took our daughter and son-in-law to Room Service last night and impressed them! For me its about the details and this place has it. We were greeted and seated immediately by friendly and professional staff at the rear Sushi bar table. I opted for Sake and it was brought out in a bucket of ice which maintains the correct temperature. My daughter enjoyed a lovely mocktail decorated with a lovely purple orchid. We enjoyed 2 types of dumplings. Wow! You've got to try the Royal ones. They look like purple roses dusted with gold and they taste as good as they look. My papaya salad was spicy and so yummy! Had tried to make a reservation for the holiday season and it just never worked out. I decided to try again for our Anniversary four months later. I can definitely see why this place is the rage right now. It was a special meal experience for my anniversary gift to my husband. The entire staff was helpful and kind. The place is beautiful however seating is very tight. The lighting is romantic but you do not feel a romance vibe with the seating arrangement. However the food alone would take me back. I had to try the One Night in Bangkok, it's an experience in itself and delicious. We tried the Royal Flower Dumplings. Highly recommend. Also included on our eating menu was the samurai signature set, Thai-style Calamari, and the Hung Lay Short Rib. There are so many things we wanted to try on the menu. Beem here twice and I really waited for the second visit to write this review. The cocktails were very creative, tastes great! So during our first visit we actually asked if they welcome small kids. Well they do. Sp we went back with our 2 small kids (who also dine out a lot). We went in for early dinner with the kids (3 and 4yo). They loved it! The purple dumplings especially. They also enjoyed the fried rice, calamari, and edemame. I am so so happy and grateful that they actually welcome kids which is very important to me. We will come back often! Ambiance is intimate and perfect for romantic evenings but can also be casual and loud when it's busy. We dont have any negative thing to say. I love room service! read more

A hidden gem in Milwaukee! The quality of the food here was fantastic. Wagyu actually felt like wagyu. Service was prompt and thoughtful. Aesthetically, it was very refined with a blend of dark decor and natural light. I live in Chicago which is quite a ways south of here, but I'm definitely going to come back when I'm anywhere near the area. read more

Room Service - Dumplings and crab wontons - Japanese Near Me - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

I can't tell you the number of times my friend mistakenly thought when I said "Room Service" that I was talking about ordering food from our hotel. No no no Room Service is brand new to the foodie scene in MKE. The presentation is top notch! Every dish looks not only Insta-worthy but also just special. When was the last time you felt special at a restaurant? The moment you sit down, they give you this little towelette that's rolled super tightly and dry... and then you place that into this little hole filled with water and it delicately puffs up. And then THAT'S what you use to wash your hands. How special! We absolutely over-ordered because we wanted to try everything on the menu. The short rib was the most tender and perfectly seasoned meat/juice. The Royal Flower Dumplings were the most beautiful (but not our most favorite although they were delicious). They were sweet and perhaps should've been the 1st bite or even at the very end as dessert. The crab cake was our favorite- I willl dream about that curry sauce! The chilled silken tofu was spicy and silky and perfect! This was the dish we paired with everything-the lettuce from the dumplings, the bao and the crab Rangoon (totally not special and we don't recommend). It was an excessive heat wave in Milwaukee and it was HOT in the restaurant. We must have gone through 8 carafes of water. It was truly uncomfortable. I wish the restaurant would have said something or sent over a dessert. The bathroom was even hotter than the restaurant. Our server told us that the restaurant was closing in October to "fix" this issue. Honestly this needed to be fixed in the heat wave! They had fans but those were just moving the stiffening air around. There needs to be a better solution especially during excessive heat. read more

i am a big fan of the overall ambiance of this place! great dim lighting and nicely decorated. bathrooms are nicely maintained which i definitely appreciate. the service is all around a great experience too. manager on duty was very accommodating and our waitress was a sweetheart!! food was phenomenal too. calamari was my favorite because of how crispy and crunchy it was. both of the fried rices were a close second!! perfectly cooked and seasoned. even the miso was so warming and tasty! i wasnt sure i was going to like the chilled silken tofu but it was a great texture and i loved the roasted seaweed and kimchi combination!! definitely would come back. read more
