The selection of items at the Rockville showroom is vast. There are lots and lots of pieces to test out and look at. Everything I saw was very high end and the prices were good (not cheap but I do not expect cheap prices for furniture). Alex, the sales person, was great. He has worked for Hamiltons for over 20 years and it shows. Alex is knowledgeable, helpful and provides just the right amount of attention. He was there when we had questions and not there when we were testing out the furniture for comfort and deciding which style we liked best. He kept checking in every so often. Alex's personality is pleasant and he is not pushy at all. In short, he was great. Hamiltons should be very proud of him. The other sales associate was also very friendly and smart too. However, we did not work with her very much. She did bring us water when we looked like we were ready to fall asleep. Like Alex, she was right there when we needed her. Thanks to Alex and his colleague. Hamiltons Sofa & Leather Gallery is a great place to shop for furniture! I highly recommend this place!

It has taken me several weeks to add this review; however after discussing with family and friends,…read moreI realized that I would be remiss if I didn't share my experience with other potential customers. My family and I are big advocates for supporting local businesses rather than big box companies. However, we expect from all, big or small companies, respect and exceptional customer service. This is not what I experienced at this store. I went into the store looking for a sectional and possibly also a dining table. The salesperson was very attentive and willing to answer my questions. Before purchasing the sectional, I decided to check out other stores that same day to make sure I was getting a relatively good price and wasn't missing out on something else. I returned to the store the next day with the intention of buying the sectional but this is when it turned.... I asked the salesperson if the price for the sectional was the best given I saw another couch very similar at another store for less. He told me to speak to the owner regarding the price. I told the owner that I saw a similar couch for less and he told me they weren't the same. Of course I knew that! I asked him what the difference was and he gave me a short response - the quality. Ok... that was a general response so I asked further, "what about the quality?" He answered, I don't know how to explain. After a few seconds, he said.. the fabric.. warranty. Alright so then he asked me "is this your first time buying a couch?" And I said, yes. He then looked at the salesperson and said, "you see". He then said, "how old are you?" I responded, 34. He then he said "you're researching like you're 17". I was dumbfounded. It was insulting as if age had anything to do with this. He was alluding to my ability to purchase furniture, lack there of. I walked out and will never return. He tried to say that I "looked 17" which was even worse given I am a grown woman and want to be treated as such. Age has nothing to do with shopping for furniture!!! If I didn't sound "informed".. take the time to educate me, your customer, as that extra step may take you a long way! Maybe it will get you more business vs. losing it. Respect and customer service is key!!!

I had been waking up with debilitating back & hip pain for months, waking up unable to walk for…read moreabout 30 minutes. The only way to avoid waking up this way was to sleep with a pillow under my lower back & hips. My Hybrid mattress was at least 8 years and despite it "feeling" nice, it clearly was not giving me the support I needed. I had planned on going to chain retail stores like I had always done but discovered there was a local mattress store called The Mattress Connection very close to my house. After reading the phenomenal reviews online, I decided to check it out. I met Edrees on Sunday and explained the pain I was experiencing, and the condition of my Hybrid mattress and I told him that I needed a firmer mattress but with some softness due to my arthritis. The store had newer versions of my current mattress - firm and soft. Edrees explained that you need to take time and relax when trying mattresses to truly see how your body feels/reacts when lying on it. His approach is like that of eye doctors - option 1 or 2. What I loved most about Edrees is that he's not a salesman; He's an educator on how to get better sleep! He is extremely attentive, telling you not to think and instead feel how your body reacts to each mattress. While pulling information about how you feel, he explains things such as how a firm bed does not automatically mean that you'll have proper alignment. This allows you to better understand what your body tells you when you lie down. He will ask if you have a budget, but I can't encourage you enough not to let your budget guide you. Let your body decide what bed works best. He explained that when we find the right bed, if it wasn't in my budget, we could find something similar that was in my price range. I tried nearly every bed in the store, from the cheapest to the most expensive and my body decided that both were not the mattress for me. Most people think that a more expensive mattress means that it's better - it's not true! I tried a $6,000 mattress and I immediately knew that it wasn't for me based on the feel. During the process, I explained to Edrees that I was also going to check out SleepNumber as my rheumatologist suggested I try it because I could adjust the softness/firmness as needed for my arthritis. He encouraged me to go and try it! He said that while he stands 100% behind all of his mattresses and his mattress selection process, he wants me to also feel 100% confident in my decision. This is the type of service I value! Someone that isn't trying to just make a sale but instead takes time with you and is visibly invested in finding what's best for you. I went to SleepNumber on Wednesday, tried all the mattresses with the same approach (bed 1 or bed 2) and chose one. After I sat with the sales rep while he wrote up an estimate, I decided to spend 10 more minutes on the bed chose. It was then that I realized that it was not the bed for me. So, I went back and tried the other bed that I thought could work. I was so happy that I tried them again because I would have wasted nearly $5,000 on a mattress that would have caused me pain. I immediately drove back to Mattress Connection and I asked Edrees if I could lie back down on the bed I chose on Sunday. He encouraged me to do so - and I realized that it might be too soft. I asked if I could try one that was a bit firmer. He encouraged me to take the time that I need and pointed me to a bed that I had tried on Sunday. After spending 10 minutes lying on it, I asked if there was a bed sort of between to two. He pointed me to another bed that I had previously tried. I spent the next bit of time spending about 10 minutes on each bed eliminating them one by one. I ended up purchasing the third bed because the mattress was supportive for proper alignment but had some pillowtop to avoid pain on my joints. After trusting Edrees and his process of elimination, I bought the best mattress for my body and to my surprise ended up spending less money than I had budgeted! If you are in the market for a new mattress, I highly recommend Edrees and The Mattress Connection - you won't regret it!

About three months ago I noticed that the bottom right side of the futon has moved apart from where it should be. I have just left my fourth message without any return calls. I have said in all of my messages that there's a problem with the futon, and briefly described it. The warranty requests that customers deal directly with the retailer. Wouldn't that be nice? In that fourth message, I said if I don't hear back I'm going to have to come to the store. Buyer beware! One last thing. No one told me that in order to make the futon fold out to become a complete bed, it has to be moved away from the wall. That's a big problem for me being a real lightweight and I have a bad back as well. It would have been reasonable (?), if they had mentioned that.

The one with the stained and stinky mattress that has seen more bodily fluids then a public restroom? Yeah, you shudder now, but you didn't even think twice back in the day. Heh. Well, futons have evidently grown up. We were looking for a futon for the office in our new home - and we definitely didn't want one like what we had in college. We wandered into Ellens Futons and was pleasantly surprised! The store is small, but in that small space a *ton* of futons are available...and all looked like lovely and solid sofas - not a single rickity peice of wood or cheap aluminum frame could be found! The mattresses with thick and plush, and there was a lovely variety of fabrics to chose from. All this is great, but what truely impressed me was the sales guy. He was the only one in the store, and somehow, he was able to help all 5 customers at the same time! We never felt rushed, we never felt like he was ignoring us or dividing his attention - yet, everytime we turned around he was answering a question or doing a demo. Very impressive! We picked out our futon but we haven't bought it yet. Will update this review with details around their delivery and set-up and all turn around times and all that good stuff once we do.
