This place is fantastic!…read more So, I only have a 5' x 9' balcony in my condo in Bethesda on which to garden. In April, I had started some herbs, morning glories, and a San Marzano from seed. They seemed to be really liking the morning, Eastern-facing sunlight they've been provided with, since moving them outside mid-May. To this IPO of a garden, I wanted to add a "pollinator planter". I did a quick search for garden centers in the area, and American Plant popped right up. I made a note in my daily planner to visit, and I'm so glad I did. They made finding what I was looking for so easy! On display was a list of all the native pollinators, categorized by season, and how much light/shade they require. I picked up a coneflower, verbena, aster, bronze fennel, and a New Guinea impatient for good measure, + a 17" terra-cotta planter for about a hundred dollars...insane. Everything looked very healthy, the staff was pleasant/helpful, and it was definitely affordable. Gardening is okay as addictions go, right? You could go to one of those mega-stores (you know what I'm talking about), but they won't have any native species, a helpful staff, and you won't save any money. Do yourself a favor, and plan a trip to American Plant. Maybe I'll see ya there!

I came here looking for a few items for a landscaping project at my home and found everything I needed. The staff is super helpful and will go out of their way to get you the answers or whatever else you need. Prepare to spend a lot of time looking at the best selection of healthy, well taken care of plants in DMV...imho. If you need an idea of what to do in your outdoor space, this Nursery is the answer. Also, these plants are in great shape and have grown so quickly and came with no pests or diseases. One day after Thanksgiving on a day perfect for Christmas tree shopping, I saw a pile of lopped off branches. The guy said I could have as much as I wanted for free (or go inside and choose nicer quality bundles of a greater variety to buy.). I filled my trunk with Fraser Fir stems. Was able to make two homemade REAL wreaths this year.

We attempted to remove some ourselves but were quickly overwhelmed by the task. I researched native plant landscapers and came across Swamp Rose Co-op. After reaching out, Jeff, one of the owners, came to do a site visit. He was thorough in his presentation of plans and this February we had them come and do bamboo removal and plant some native trees and shrubs to act as a privacy screen. The Swamp Rose team was amazing! They pulled out over 2 tons of bamboo and roots! They planted native trees and shrubs which are thriving. Our backyard woodland meadow dreams are coming true. We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator. They do excellent work! It is hard to find a native landscaper but this team is fantastic.

I asked the person who was working that area a few question on which one would be the best to plant and she very vague and stand offish. It's felt like I was bothering her. If she didn't have any information on the questions I asked she could have pointed me to the right person. A month later I had tried to return the one tree I had bought and thought that I would be able to exchange or at least get store credit. I followed all the steps that is on the website about returning a product. The person at the Customer service return counter made me feel it was my fault that the tree was not doing well after I planted it. She said and I quote "We can not help every person who comes in here". Isn't that part of running a good business? The day I was there was not a busy day.

Awesome hand lotions, hair perfumes, Turkish towels (I got a great grape [okay, just plain purple] and pink one that's got teal on the other side -- just beautiful and so soft, ooh, what luxury! Turkish towels are awesome because they take up less space and dry far more quickly than other, thicker towels, so of course they end up both smelling much better and being a lot more hygienic. The orange-scented hand lotion is super-luxe, too, with a rich creamy feel and excellent scent. I got the amber hair perfume. The rugs are really nice, with just enough texture balanced together with softness and sturdiness all together in one piece -- and there is an amazing selection of different colours of these area rugs available, all rolled up nicely in a cool basket. Speaking of baskets, they've got them! The baskets have a real beachy vibe and would be perfect for a day (or a week, or more!) at the beach. They're real sturdy and stand up well on their own, unlike some other floppier baskets or of course beach bags out there .... The baskets are also really good for shopping, too. There are cookbooks, fun cooking and cleaning supplies such as the never-before-seen-by-me ravioli-shaped sponges and oh-so-many things to explore, I wouldn't want to ruin it for you by telling you more!
