If you are interested in consigning furniture or any other item for that matter with West Howard…read moreAntiques, think twice. I consigned high-end, expensive furniture with the firm. I was promised a contract for the consignment. I never received one. I was told I would get a receipt for the value of the property in the event it was not sold after 60 days, at which time I could retrieve and donate it to a chaitable organization. My furniture was never marketed on the firm's website. An occasional chair was sold within two weeks of my depositing it with the firm! I was never told of the sale, despite calling several times and viewing the website. Six weeks later, I learned of the sale when I visited the firm and asked if anything had been sold. I was told nothing had been sold. However, one of the owners then proceeded to go into her computer and told me the chair had, in fact, been sold. I had a verbal confrontation with the male co-owner who had promised me a contract and a statement of the property's value. He told me to retrieve the furniture or he would dispose of it. I called Habitat for Humanity, which agreed to accept the furniture as a donation from me. When Habitat picked up the furniture, the owner of the firm finally provided a statement of the value of the property! I am certain he did so because I told him I am an attorney during our verbal confronation. I firmly believe the owners never intended to market my property and wanted to claim the property as their own after 60 days had passed. Then, their intention was to sell the property and retain the proceeds from the sale. This firm is not listed with the Better Business Bureau for a reason!

Zero quality control. Zero price integrity. I am beyond disappointed. Eva quoted $35 to fix a lamp…read more Considering an entire rewiring kit at Ace is about $14 and a replacement socket alone is about $7 I agreed to let them fix the lamp. Problem 1: At pickup my lamp was tagged $55 for repair. Eva couldn't explain why, said the person was confused but she would charge me $35. Problem 2: Before bagging the lamp and driving back home with my lamp I ask Eva to plug it to confirm it turned back on. The lamp didn't turn on. Clearly it wasn't fixed or checked by anyone prior to calling me for pickup. Eva says leave it and I will have the repair person look again. Problem 3: Eva calls me back and says well the lamp should be rewired to replace the plug and thats going to be $65. I was quoted $35 to fix the lamp. The lamp should be fixed at the quoted price $35. The lamp should have been checked prior to calling for pickup. Complete waste of my time.

There should be a no star option. I took an heirloom lamp there to be rewired. The work done was…read moremore than asked for, and the price increased accordingly. I paid and left. When I got it home and out of the box, it was awful, to say the least. I called the shop, and Eva J there went off on me when I also added that my receipt was ripped half. She started yelling about conspiracies and asked what I was accusing her of. I was not accusing her of anything, just asked a question. She said to bring the lamp back to be re-done. I have had to eat that $90 charge as I will NEVER set foot in that place again and will take my lamp elsewhere to see if the damage can be fixed. Scary person, and I honestly felt threatened by her reaction.
