Stopped in to see a friend's band play. - They were GREAT! Now to review Rooftop Tap................ First off, there are ZERO handicap parking spots in front for any of the businesses. They are located at least a half block away (if not more) in the municipal lot. Be aware of this if you or someone in your party has limited mobility. There is no service for the tables on the floor. You need to go up to the bar and hopefully get the attention of one of the bartenders - Go Luck. This also means that tables are not cleared of empty glasses, bottles, food, etc. We ended up cleaning the table we sat at ourselves. The floor is polished concrete and no attention is paid to spills so going to the restrooms are "at your own risk". I've been here several times recently with my wife and friends. Besides having to grab my own drinks from the bar on the first floor and bringing it to the rooftop, we've waited a half hour before we had to ask the bartender for some water and a menu. A waitress finally comes and says, "I was told to bring you these waters and menus" like if it was inconveniencing her. Waited another 15 minutes while I see everyone being served but us. We ended up having to go back downstairs in order to actually place an order, where we waited another fifteen minutes to be served despite us being the only people in the bar. When we finally were able to order food, we witnessed the bartender taking shots with a friend and texting on her phone the whole time when I'm drink was completely empty for an hour. This was on 9/17/25. This place has a ton of potential, it's one of the only southside rooftop bars in our area, but the service and unfriendly waitresses explain why they are completely empty during the best weather season in Chicago. read more

Stopped in for lunch at the Rooftop Tap on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. There is a good sized bar on the first floor - indoors - but the real attraction at this place is the rooftop. It's a pretty big space and offers a nice mix of sun and shade. Our waitresses promptly greeted us with menus and took our drink order. She did a decent job throughout the meal, but she could been a bit more attentive. The menu is large, but doesn't feature anything that you won't find at every sports bar in America. Nachos, wings, burgers, wraps.... Again, the attraction is the space itself, and I'm sure this place is packed on a warm weekend night in the summer. The food was fine. It was exactly as my wife and I expected. We split the beef nachos and a grilled chicken fajita wrap. The nachos were plenty big enough to share for 4 people. Our server had the wrap split into 2 plates since we were sharing, and again, it was plenty big enough, but lacked flavor. It was pretty bland. We each had a couple beers, split the nachos and the wrap and got out of there for just over $40, so the value was there, it just wasn't very memorable. read more

I was there I'm Memorial Day with a couple friends and as I left, the manager came running after us asked us why we didn't leave a tip for the server. But we did leave a tip we left cash and I put money on a credit card. But whether we left a tip or not, I cannot believe the manager came running after us asking where the tip was ???? What kind of manager does that? And she was yelling at us too !! I called the owner the next day and he he wouldn't even let me tell him what happened since my friend already called. Rooftop Tap is a bar/restaurant in a strip mall within Downtown Palos Heights. While it doesn't appear to have a lot of parking up front, there are more then enough spots on the side and back. I went in the front door and being my first time, it was a bit difficult to direct myself where to go to access the rooftop. Once up there, the patio was populated with some basic outdoor tables and chairs as well as some overhead screens to create shade. There was also a bar up there for quicker drink turnaround. The menu is very well priced and offers a variety of classic bar food. Items are pretty straight forward. There was a decent drink offering as well but please note that the daily food/drink specials advertised on the website are no longer offered. Bit of a disappointment. Our group split the appetizer platter which was yummy. Meals included the boneless wings, chicken club, rooftop burger, and chicken wrap. I personally got the boneless wings and did not love them; breading was minimal, sauce was light, chicken was a bit tough. However, everyone else seemed to enjoy their food! Our waitress was extremely nice and attentive! Food was quickly turnaround yet paced nicely knowing we also got drinks and apps. Bathrooms offered to the rooftop patrons were not the cleanest, my toilet didn't flush, and the female restroom had a giant plastic shower in it which was off putting. While I liked the prices and shaded rooftop, I'm not sure I'd make my way back to this spot based on my specific experience. read more

Great show by Elvis impersonator, Joe Tirrito! He performed for I think it was 2 1/2 hours and his voice stayed strong throughout. Seems like a genuinely nice guy, too, bringing on stage an 11 year-old boy to sing a couple songs and a woman he performs with in another band. He performs there a few times a year, I'm told. So if you love Elvis, you'll enjoy this show. Our waitress was wonderful and Frank is an outstanding host. The food is good, too! Highly recommended! read more

I decided to have a somewhat last minute 40th birthday party for my daughter. I was planning 30-40 guests, on 7/3. A big night for bars. I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience this was. Frankie, the owner, was absolutely amazing. He suggested the Taco Bar (instead of apps). So delicious. Everyone was raving about how good it all was. Frankie checked with me so many times to see what we needed. Ryan our dedicated server was outstanding. As were all of the bartenders and servers. I have planned many parties in my life. By Far a Great experience! Frank was Fantastic to have kept the Christmas decorations up after the holiday for our Work Holiday Cheers get together. No other place would do that for us. The rooftop is the best part especially on a nice sunny day. This place has a lot of potential especially in the summer months since there isn't many rooftop options near by which I definitely wish there was. I hope they consider adding some summer drinks like some basic margaritas. To me that is an easy staple summer drink if they can make them right. The app platter we had was good nice variety and tasty. Overall it was good but I see missed potential I look forward to going back when the weather is nice again and maybe they will have some tasty drink additions. read more

I've been going to Tuesday Bar bingo for about 2 years. I don't win often but enjoy a good group get together. Recently I won three games in one day. On Memorial Day, my husband and I stopped for lunch wanting to use the certificates. On the certificate, it states for use "only" on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. No mention of holiday exclusion. Before ordering, we asked about using all of our certificates and found that it was one per table. Ok. We ordered. The manager said we couldn't use it on a holiday. We debated that and she allowed us to use one. I gave my other two to two couples at other tables. Come to find out from the manager that her decision to allow "us consideration for use of the certificate on a holiday" only applied to us. I had to go back and take back those I gifted. How embarrassing. To me, Rooftop Tap makes it very hard to use their prize certificates. I've spent on average $30 + tip every time I go to bingo and this is how they treat customers. I suggest that you "clearly state" on the certificate your terms. They lost my business and possibly that of a few friends that normally meet for that Tuesday bingo. read more

Sadly there's not many rooftops in the area so we chose to come here. Will not be returning. Many tables around us we over heard not happy with the quality of food and extremely slow service. Don't usually do this with bad comments but the service here is terrible. They have not improved after few visits. You sit have to wait around for 10-15 plus minutes to just get asked for a drink. Didn't get greeted, no menus no water nothing at all. If you want food ya better put it in right away with that first beer or else you'll have to wait awhile for that. This place has so much potential but the staff up top needs a lot of work and more help. One waitress for a full rooftop visits the same tables over and over looks at you then keeps walking.one bartender that's overwhelmed and two busboys that just walk around clueless getting drinks for themselves. Worst service you'll ever experience. I'll never understand the work "culture" at this place. They stand around and chat the whole time and will leave your table unattended for 45 minutes, they have absolutely no concept of customer service. And EVERY WAITER is like that. Frank is very accommodating, respectful, looks out for group safety with late walk- ins. Unfortunately, just not good. Shouldn't even be called rooftop because there is absolutely no service on the rooftop. Maybe this place is new? I don't know, they definitely didn't have it together. Waitress/bartender was not friendly/maybe a little confused. Chips were super soggy, monte cristo sandwich felt like it was dipped in water it was so soggy. I have no idea how it was that wet. Philly "cheesesteak" was made with Italian beef meat, but wasn't horrible, just an observation. Boneless wings were extremely dry. Mac and cheese had absolutely no flavor. The upstairs should definitely have a different menu or something it just doesn't work. The location was very cool though so should just make some food changes. Maybe go here for a night out, AFTER dinner. Could just be lack of staff as well so feel kind of bad, because it was verrrry slow. read more

I used to work at Rooftop Tap. Best time of my life. I had to take a different route because I graduated college, but when I worked there it was such a great place. The manager, Josh, was great. Water on the table 3 minutes after people sit down, servers would cover each other in if that couldn't happen. Tables always clean, something empty -- it was picked up. I went into rooftop, nothing was the same. Food was cold, service was bare minimum, and it was dirty. I hate to write badly about this place, because I will love it forever, but it's hard to see such a great place turn down the wrong path. read more

I was looking forward to this place opening. I really liked Sam Bucca's rooftop dining. It wasn't great but it was good. Sam's suffered from identity crisis. Was it a gourmet Italian restaurant or a trendy bar? Since Sam's closed and the new "Rooftop Tap" was announced I was excited for the future. Verdict: This place, absent major changes, won't last six months. The website indicates that the new Rooftop Tap has live music, daily specials, and takes credit cards. Remember that last line for me. Yes, the website shows that all major credit cards are accepted as well as the upstart Amazon Pay. So the dining room has been revamped and not for the better. A cozy Italian restaurant now looks like a giant cafeteria with a small bar to the south. However, I wasn't here for indoor dining. I was here for the rooftop as in "Rooftop Tap". I climbed the back stairs to get to the rooftop. I encountered a waitress and a bar back who looked at me as if I was crazy when I stopped to ask if I had to wait to be seated. I didn't. I grabbed a table with an umbrella quietly anticipating a good IPA and a sandwich. The deck looks as if it were powerwashed a bit since Sam's and they moved the bar from the stair area to the south and west. They basically added on another tier to the deck. That area has a bar and does not allow for wait service. The menu featured the typical appetizer fare: wings, pretzels, etc. (basically whatever Sysco foods sells). Also offered were burgers in several varieties, salads, and a chicken sandwich. The menu was quite limited. Then again, this is advertised as a bar. Such is life. Anyway, I ordered a burger and a hoppy wheat beer. Burger was good, not great. The beer was good. If you like the big brewers then this is your place. Miller Lite pints are always $2. You can get your share of Bud, Miller, PBR, etc. IPAs? Not really. I settled on a Boulevard 80-Acre wheat. Again, it was good. Burger was good but my side of vegetables was not fresh and not warm. They were frozen and not fully cooked. That kind of sucked. I mentioned the bar earlier. Well that was filled a bunch of hill rods who shouted profanities while donning their finest black t-shirts, tank tops and dirty jeans. No thanks. The bill came and I attempted to pay it when the server told me that it was cash only on the roof? But the website shows that you accept credit cards. Well there are some signs in the stairwell that state cash only. Okay. So I went downstairs and used the ATM. The service fee was $3.50 (not including the fee that my bank will charge me). Guess what? That came out of the server's tip. Complain to the owner if you don't like it. Are there different owners with different policies? Does one person get the dining room and one get the roof? Very bizarre. Speaking of owner or owners, what business school did these yahoos attend? You call yourself the Rooftop Tap but then when people go there you want to limit the customers to cash. I know there are bevy of nefarious options that cash businesses have but there are also disadvantages as in employee theft and limiting your customer base. A large number of people don't carry cash anymore but for the occasional Great Depression child and drug dealers. If you want to exclude a great number of customers then keep this business practice. In summary: The food was good. The beer was good. Waitress was average at best. Nothing here was great. Absent major changes, this place is gone in six months. I myself have no plans to return. They need to call Jon Taffer and they need to call him now. read more
