I contacted Erynn to cook for a quiet, 2-person, birthday dinner aboard a boat in the Charlestown…read moreNavy Yard. Erynn is patient and sweet and such an AMAZING chef. I have never hired a personal chef before, so I didn't have any expectations, but our meals were TRULY awesome. She made for us, mussels in tomato broth, fish with asparagus and tomatoes and olives, beef with mushroom risotto and this espresso chocolate custard that I could've eaten for the rest of my life for every meal. (I attached 2 picture of the entrees.) I fully intend on hiring Erynn again in the future, perhaps for a larger cocktail party. Thank you Erynn!! You're the best! x

Not only was the food beyond exceptional but Erynn is on-time, responsive, calm, and, while friendly, is a tough cookie. She was put in a situation with a tiny kitchen with very little room to maneuver and she didn't come to me with problems, she just figured out how to make it work. And her price structure is beyond reasonable. There were some issues but they were more the fault of my planning. But you live and learn. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend South End Chef and I hope I have reason to hire Erynn again. Her onion tarts are going on my Top 10 list of "Best Things I Have Ever Put In My Mouth". I will post some pictures soon.

When my husband and I first decided to find a personal chef we thought "maybe this will help, we…read morecan't keep eating out, it's killing us." Neither of us really knew what a personal chef service looked like. We love cooking but we didn't/don't have time during the week to cook. We hoped we'd get more vegetables into our diet at a minimum. That not eating out would mean less of the white devils (sugar, salt). I reached out to The Skinny Beet in a frenetic and desperate state last December. Since they've entered our lives the sun is shining, the clouds have parted and Mondays are happy (re: they are miracle workers). We have been a weekly client with The Skinny Beet for almost 3 months now. At the end of 1 month we reached out to them and shared a list of each positive benefit directly or indirectly related to hiring them as personal chefs. I would like to share this list with you (reader of my review): 1. My husband and I spend more time together. 2. We portion control better. 3. We work out more (have time to work out). 4. We feel better: less groggy, less irritable, more energy. 5. The food they make tastes flavorful, wholesome and satisfying. We get to eat our favorite cuisines with less of the sugar/salt and more grain/vegetable variety than what we know how to cook. 6. We waste less. 7. The brain space we wasted thinking about what to eat, what to cook, when to go pick things up, crap-I-forgot-an-ingredient --- Poof! Gone. Which, working full time while part time grad school, any and all brain space I can allocate to my work is priceless for me. From Week One: Flexibility with schedule and menu planning was made easy for us - We come home and our kitchen tools and pans lovingly (and somewhat expensively) acquired over time are clean - There are delicious dishes made with quality ingredients ready for devouring in the fridge. We are so grateful for the difference The Skinny Beet has made in our quality of life. Seriously, I wasn't kidding: Miracle Workers.

Well in just a couple hours we were able to cover SO much ground. From making a delicious salsa and homemade chips, to a steak and a chicken, even farro with caramelized onions. Not only did I learn tons of REALLY helpful skills that I've already been implementing, but I had delicious food that lasted me for a handful of meals THAT I HELPED MAKE! They brought all their own ingredients and left my kitchen completely spotless (possibly cleaner than how they found it) I am so thankful to these two and I look forward to our next lessons.

Naturally, because it was something new, we were a bit anxious about the experience. We weren't sure of all the moving pieces or how easy/difficult the process would be. When Ryan left on Saturday evening, our kitchen sparkling, it was like he had never even been there, except we were stuffed with incredibly delicious food. From my first contact with Ryan to the when he left my mom's house, it was all so easy. The menu was easy to decide on (Ryan has a huge selection of dishes he can put together). Ryan was easy going and guided us through each step. Ryan brings everything he needs, pots, pans, silverware, china, and food. He got to work right away, and when it came time to sit down, we were treated to an incredible feast. Every course (we had 5 courses) was delicious and elegant. We were served by Ryan's assistant. It was really like we were in a restaurant. I was eating with my back to the kitchen, and it was hard to even know he was there. He was efficient and didn't distract from our dinner (he was also willing to chat when we pulled him into the conversation.) If you are at all anxious about the process of having a chef cook dinner in your house, you shouldn't be if you pick Ryan. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Here's what we ate (If we could do it again, we'd eliminate one of the first three course... we. were. stuffed.): Hard Cider Pumpkin Bisque (a table favorite. Fall in a bowl) Wedge Salad (the dressing was dynamite) Scallops and risotto (Another hit. This is where we were feeling rather full). Filet OR herb encrusted chicken (maybe the best filet I've had in a long while. Just cooked perfectly.) Tangerine Creme Brulee (blow torch demo included!). If you're thinking about doing something romantic for a significant other or planning a larger dinner (we had 9 people), you should hire Ryan. You won't regret it and you'll impress everyone.

The braised short rib grilled cheese appetizers were nothing short of amazing and could have been a meal in themselves ... but we continued with fantastic corn chowder with crab, arugula salad with melon and pine nuts, and stuffed cod that melted in our mouths. Add in lava cakes ... and you have a meal that is totally over the top. But the best part of the night was Chef Ryan and his assistant Leslie - who cooked, served and cleaned up. As they left you would never have known anyone was in the kitchen !!! Simply amazing. If you want the luxury of have your own professional chef for an evening - call Chef Ryan - he's the best !
