I wish I had a before photo, WOAH! So happy with these!

During my last Birkenstock purchase at Englin's, I was talking about a pair I love but need repaired. The employee told me while Birkenstock doesn't repair their sandals, he recommends I check out Ron's. He couldn't remember the cost to re-sole, but while getting my size from the back, I called over. Ron was very kind, asked if cork was exposed yet, and since they were very close but not quite there, said the cost would be $49.95 plus tax, cash only, takes about a week or so. I stopped wearing my shoes to not further wear them out, keeping them in my car. I almost stopped by several times but kept forgetting to go before 4:30pm when they close during the week. I finally made time a couple weeks ago and found the little white building that contains the shop in the back, tucked behind Steak n Shake. There's a sign that points where to turn. Inside reminds me of a real world Geppetto's workshop, maybe even one like your grandfather had growing up. Very nostalgic! The two gentlemen working were kind, I paid the cash, and was asked if I was in a hurry for these back. I said no and got a receipt that they would be ready in 10 days with an approximate pick-up time. I just picked them up and again, the guys are so nice. I had my receipt to make things easy, got my shoes shown to me, and I was speechless. They even have the Birk stamps! I was offered a bag, complimented on my silly strawberry sweater, asked about my weekend, and went about my way. Genuinely kind customer service here! As I went outside, looking these over in the sunlight, they are literally perfect! This is so much cheaper than buying a new pair for almost $200, especially since these are leather with the limited white bottoms, and I don't have to break in my favorite pair again. Highly recommend this shop and keeping mom & pop type places like this in business!

I've now used Ron's Shoe repair to re-sole a set of cowboy boots and to remove candle wax from a pair of dress shoes (they got near ruined at a wedding). These guys know their stuff. My cowboy boots look brand new! They're gorgeous again! They did a very nice job of salvaging my dress shoes as well. They're certainly usable and saved me a ton of money in buying a new set! Don't let the unassuming front of these place deceive you. They know what they're doing, they're masters of their craft and are certainly trustworthy. I'll be coming here as long as they're around for any leather needs I have!

Unfortunately, I don't have a 'before', but this is the 'after'. Ron fixed the walking surface of the heels and then polished both shoes!!

Picked up my shoes from Ron's today and they look terrific! Ron not only fixed the walking surface of my work heels, which were falling apart, but also polished the shoes so they are looking much better overall. I should be able to get several more years out of them!! In addition, the customer service was excellent - very friendly and welcoming. This is the first time I have ever taken shoes for repair but I'll definitely think of Ron's for any shoe repair needs in the future!!

    After!

The shop fixed my hiking shoes by sewing up unraveled stitches at several areas and did a superb job!

Super helpful with tall boot zippers for equestrians. They will try to help you even with leather works such as stitching on saddles

Excellent work. Repaired and cleaned a pair of boots that I thought were throwaways. Look like new.

One of the pairs, my Footjoy Classics Spikeless, stopped being produced in 2009 so I wasn't sure how difficult of a project this might be for Mike. Turns out they look better than they did when they were new! More support, better constructed, and they look brand new. Mike took a pair of shoes that were literally falling apart and brought them back to life, even better than before. These Footjoys look better than anything Footjoy sells these days! Mike did such a great job that I dropped off another pair when I picked up my last 2 pair. And I have about 3 more pairs of shoes that are in need of being recrafted, Cento Shoes will be wear I am taking them. The price is right at Cento Shoes and they carry all the good and necessary shoe care products to keep your shoes in great shape and well nourished. Jennifer who works in the front of the house is just amazing and super kind. She got me taken care of in no time and while I was there picking up my shoes I got some new socks and shoe care accessories too. Cento Shoes has been around longer than I have been alive and Mike Cento has the same passion for shoes that I do. Footwear is really important to me. If it is important to you and want support a locally-owned family business of 50+ years that brings footwear back to life, go see Mike and Jennifer at Cento Shoes, you will not be disappointed. Mike is like the Obi-Wan Kenobi of shoe recrafting. He has a new customer and a friend for life. Thank you!!!

Alas, that I have to post this update: after a couple of weeks, my luggage organizer "mobile…read morecloset" thingy was returned -- and they failed to reattach the cinch strap, which was the whole reason I went to them! (Instead, they left the strap hanging from its other attachment point, dangling uselessly, and *closed* the hole it left when the strap tore out of the stitches.) So I wrote a nice note and shipped it back. And the postal service promptly lost the box, utterly beyond reclaiming. So I ended up paying for a new set of luggage after all, which I'd been trying to avoid in the first place. I called the shop, and the woman who answered told me she'd talk to her supervisor about a refund and call me back; she never called me back. Sigh. Not the small local business experience I had hoped for. :/

I had a pair of boots that were in pretty good shape, except the heels were falling off and when I came and picked them up, I was so impressed. I decided I needed to do a review. What's exciting about this places they not only take care of your shoes, but they have shoe strings in every color as well as wax. Now I know not everybody needs all these colors, but working in the furniture repair business and in the art world waxes in many colors is a treat. I love the family pictures going all the way back in time as well as the pictures of the employees that have been there forever as well. You can't go wrong walking into this place. It's like a step back in time where you feel treated very well and get to experience a little history while you're in there. I highly recommend stopping by as they even have cool shoes for sale!
