Authentic, homemade, excellent enjoyable lunch and experience. I would disregard the negative reviews below because either they were bogus, or outdated, as businesses are always making improvements. I travel a lot and found this place today by accident. Great find. Ron's Landmark Restaurant is owner operated, and he works the front of the house, which also makes this old school Italian joint so special. His son is back of the house, master chef, who learned to cook from his Italian Mom, and as well, he is a top Culinary Institute graduate. I have one thing to say, well done Mom, Dad, and Son. The shrimp scampi over pasta was delicious. The garlic sauce was a nice consistency and flavor with bountiful and beautifully thinly sliced pieces of garlic. The extra-large shrimp were done perfectly, and lightly breaded on top, and they also serve a very nice portion of Italian Bread in the basket. Furthermore, the topper was the giant balsamic vinaigrette salad that comes with lunch, with cherry tomato, hint of garlic & herbs..... delicious, really. Luckily I live within about a 35 minute drive on US 80, so I look forward to investing in future drives to Ron's Landmark Restaurant in Budd Lake NJ. and trying other dishes, for example the Veal, Calamari, Pasta Fagioli, and desserts like Tiramisu. They also specialize in catering on and off premise. Prices are very reasonable, my lunch resembled a dinner portion, including salad and bread. Not withstanding the high-quality dishes and old school family run ambiance, for $8,95 I would say it was more than a bargain, so be sure to check it out for yourselves soon. Ron's is a family owned restaurant that has been situated in Netcong for over 30 plus years. The atmosphere is comfortable and the menu provides for traditional Italian cuisine and reasonable prices. The decor inside is very nice and great for larger groups and families. The food is good but not the best Italian in the area. They offer some daily deals and the service is typically good. I haven't been back in a while, but I remember Ron's for it portions sizes and for it's sassy waitress. It doesn't have the best parking situation, as many know from driving through that awful new traffic light in front of the building, but there are parking area within walking distance that work just as well in the warmer seasons. Was Ok. We had a buffalo chicken wrap, steak, seafood fra diavolo, and a special (penne with vodka sauce, chicken and roasted. The steak was fair however he steak at Longhorn is better in my opinion. I called in for a pick up and was told to hold in an abrupt manor. Then I placed my order and was told it would be a 40 minute wait as if that were a deterrent. Then they hung up without taking my name. I called back and asked for a manager to give my name and the wait wasn't a problem and explain the exchange was just rude. I was told I had the manager and he didn't appreciate me busting his balls and to stick it up my ass. Word for word. This place does not deserve a patrons money as they clearly don't respect them or people in general. With 100 other Italian restaurants in the area replacing them for a more appreciative establishment should be no problem. read more

Very good local spot for Italian food, I'm from Bergen county originally and have had a hard time getting good Italian food in this area. Ron's is reasonably priced and I've eaten here twice and enjoyed both meals. Last time was a few nights ago...the salad was a bit lackluster, but I really enjoyed the artichokes appetizer and my chicken francese. My boyfriend ordered a pork chop dish covered with peppers. He said it was pretty good, but too hot (spicy) for him to really enjoy. and he likes things very hot! Cappuccino after dinner was also good. Very disappointing- placed an online order and waited for the amount of time they said it'd be ready. Finally arrived and asked for my order; they said the dish we ordered was no longer on the menu (even though it was printed on the online menu!) Clearly the person taking the order wasn't educated on their own menu. They said they attempted to call back, but there were zero missed calls from them. Extremely disappointing to waste that much time only to find out our order wasn't even being processed. No updated online menus and no proper way to call back a customer. Never again!! So, I use Yelp regularly to help me decide where to eat and I moved to New Jersey and I've been on a yelp dry spell but Ron's Landmark put me over the edge. Let me start with the staff is nice and the atmosphere is good, no complaints there. However, the food is another story. Last night I went to Ron's for a friend's bday. There were four of us. She wanted to give it a try since she lives in the area. I have eaten there once before years ago and wasn't impressed with it then and I wasn't impressed with it last night. The parking is heinous. I had to park in the train station lot. When we entered the restaurant it started with the 4 of us telling the hostess we had reservations for four and we gave our friend's name. She looked at us and shook her and said "yea, no" My friend called in the beginning of the week and spoke with a male who supposedly wrote it down and they didn't have the reservation down. We were still able to be seated thankfully. For an appetizer we ordered fried calamari and the mozzarella and roasted peppers. The calamari was ok. It was the big ring ones obviously frozen and not homemade and their idea of fresh mozz and roasted peppers is round cherry tomatoes and round mozzarella balls with little slices of roasted peppers on a small bed of romaine lettuce. Again it was ok. For dinner I got the whole wheat penne in marinara with grilled shrimp and I asked if they could throw in spinach. I have to say the grilled shrimp was EXCELLENT. That was the best part. The marinara was just ok. Their bread was very good. Came out warm. Along with our dinner we got a salad. That was a debacle. You can taste the preservatives. It must have come right out of a Dole bag. I didn't finish it. We didn't have dessert there. We went back to my friend's for her birthday cake. Our waitress was nice. She reminded me of my Nonnie. Supposedly they are known for their pizza but there are so many other more authentic Italian places to go to. read more

HORRIBLE WAITRESS SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED! Went here with my boyfriend for a nice dinner and got seated and we ordered everything we desired. She brought out our bread and salad. That's the last time we saw our waitress for 30 minutes. Not even joking. My boyfriend tried waving her down numerous times, apparently that wasn't enough. Reason for the 4 stars is mostly because of the value for the money. Overall this is a step above your average pizza place. Parking is a big issue but the portion sizes are really good for the money. For a Family of 5 we dropped like 120 bucks with tip including drinks and appetizers. Items were shrimp scampi, chicken Parm., Cheesesteak, Ravioli, mozzarella sticks, Pasta fagoli soup, and a couple Caesar salads with a coffee and no desert. All were ok; but nothing was exceptional. Solid food. Great Pizza (Order it well done if you like crispy pizza) The only thing that I have eaten at Ron's is Pizza and Italian sub's. Both things are very good. The service can be slow and If you sit at the bar you feel out of place until a few visits. That is when the regulars seem to except you. Heard about this place from coworkers and decided to try it out. The inside is very pleasant but it is smaller. The food was decent as well. The side salads were nothing to rave about. Nothing fancy at all. They serve you bread with dipping sauce that was okay. It just had garlic in olive oil. The meal I had, had a great flavor but I do not think it was worth the price. Great service, authentic Italian food, and a cozy atmosphere. I stopped by with a colleague for lunch last week and was not disappointed. I ordered the eggplant rollatini and it was delicious-- not drowning in sauce like I have seen in other restaurants. We were given complimentary bread with (IMO) an addictive olive oil with garlic and herbs (the only other place that measures up to this is in NYC). Our waitress was upbeat, attentive, and never made us feel like we were bothering her. If we needed a refill or more bread, she was there. We have gone to Ron's for at least 30 years. We just returned from dinner and...things have changed - the food just wasn't the same, but ok. Then we got the bill, and NOW we know. When presented to us, it said this: "$55.10 Cash - 60.80 Credit"!!!!!!! We dine out a lot, and we always pay by Amex. Now, I don't care how they wish to explain this, but if a restaurant cannot honor Amex (or other cards) without hitting you up for an additional fee for using it, it's time to stop going there. I went today for lunch. The waitress was super busy with a large party but managed to keep smiling and was very bubbly as well as super attentive. The food was very impressive. Large lunch portions with bread and the best roasted garlic olive oil I have ever had. The pasta fagiloi soup is superb. This is my new place for my lunch hour. I joined YELP because I felt so strongly about giving this restaurant a review. We were are party of 10 people and chose this place randomly.
