I used Ronnie's for a catering event. Everyone raved over the pulled BBQ and mac and cheese that I ordered! The staff was easy to work with and just seemed like good, genuine people. I'll definitely use them in the future and stop by for lunch! read more

Picked a very generous hash and rib special. Chose Mac & Cheese, baked beans, and Cole slaw as sides; also came with a small slice of chocolate marble cheesecake. Friendly service and a massive amount of food for the price. Easy parking and quick service for takeaway. Overall, quite tasty. Mac and cheese is smoked - and in general, the food carries a stronger smoke flavor that I enjoyed. Cole slaw had a nice tang. Baked beans average at best. The main courses - really really tasty hash and rice. House made bbq sauce a nice tomato and vinegar. Ribs are strong contender. Well worth a visit if you are in the area! read more

The ribs are amazing! Let's start there, I've been back 3 weekends in a row for the ribs. The slab of ribs is worth the money. Now the sides I'm not to impressed about, the first time we went on a Saturday the green beans were well seasoned and the smoked Mac and cheese was a hit, but the last two times we went early on Fridays and the taste has not been the same. The baked beans tasted like they came straight from a can, the slaw and potato salad were basic nothing special. Hash and rice is pretty decent tastes more like dirty rice from Popeyes. It's a drive up spot no inside dining there are a few outside tables if you want to eat there. I will definitely be going back for the ribs, I don't care for their vinaigrette like sauce I'm more used to a thick barbecue type sauce. read more

While driving through Elgin, we happened upon the hidden gem Ronnie's Ribs -- and we're so glad we stopped! If you're looking for small-town charm paired with incredible flavor, this is absolutely the place. We even had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ronnie himself. Hearing a bit about the experiences that inspired him to open the restaurant made the visit feel even more special. We tried the oxtail plate (an occasional special), and it was incredible -- super tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat. The mac and cheese was perfectly cheesy and salty in the best way, and the rice n hash was packed with flavor. Ronnie also let us try some brisket with his vinegar-based BBQ sauce. The brisket was succulent with really unique spices, and the sauce paired with it perfectly. If you're passing through Elgin, it's definitely worth the stop. read more

Blink and you would pass this place. No indoor seating, just outdoor picnic benches. An unassuming exterior with friendly service that attracts the masses so it intrigued me. So tonight we got to go in anticipation of why people line up for this place. Definitely not the ambiance, so that leaves the food. It did not disappoint in quality or quantity. Ribs that fall off the bone, perfectly seasoned, covered in a sumptuous sauce perfectly sweet and savory. You see , it smelled so good we did not make it home to try this barbecue delicacy. And we got the last rack of baby backs available till 7. I was always told a restaurant doesn't have to be fancy to be good just serve quality. Apparently judging by the crowds at Ronnie's others see it the same way. read more

I haven't been to Ronnie's in several years but decided today to get lunch. I ordered the brisket dinner and a 1/2 chicken dinner. The chicken was great. Came with a nice sized 1/2 chicken, roll, Cole slaw, bbq sauce, green beans and rice with hash. My wife asked for the chicken and said it was great. Very good tasting and the sauce is excellent. She's not much of a. green bean fan done the southern way so she gave them to me...and they were great. I liked the Cole slaw (sort of a KFC type). She had a dessert that was some type of an apple baked bread...excellent. I thought my brisket was sort of too well done. It was good, but I was a little disappointed. I've had his ribs and they have been great, but this was my first try at the brisket. I did like the hash/rice. Baked beans were good. Next time I go back I'll try the ribs again or the chicken. Service was fast. read more

Delicious! One of the rare, off the beaten path BBQ restaurants that truly taste Great! Proud of it to be located in my hometown of Elgin, SC! read more

The food and service was great. The portions were plentiful, the short ribs were very tasty.

Best smoked chicken I've ever had, full of flavor & love in every bite! The vinegar based sauce on the side complimented the chicken very well. The smoked Mac and cheese was also delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing menu read more

I LOVE barbecue! And this place definitely fulfilled my cravings. It's a cute little shack in Elgin and the lady at the window was so sweet. She was able to answer my questions and make sure my order was right. The only disappointment was they were out of turkey wings. We ordered a brisket dinner with hash and rice and green beans, chicken wings, and half rack of ribs with sauce on the side. Let me just say first, the brisket was so tender and the green beans were perfectly done. My bf said the hash and rice was perfectly made, exactly how it should be. The chicken wings and ribs had the perfect smokey flavor and their homemade BBQ sauce made it all taste better. I was never crazy about SC bbq sauce cuz I don't like mustard but I'm starting to get hooked on it. It was sweet but not too sweet and the perfect amount of tang. I'm so glad I stopped here for dinner. read more

The only real BBQ nearby without going to Columbia. A little uneven since they had to give up the outside cookers.

This unpretentious shack, which offers only outdoor dining, sits alongside the road in Elgin, a few miles north of interstate 20. And With a google rating of 4.6 on the strength of 243 reviews, and an equally high rating on Yelp, this has been our sleeper in South Carolina for quite some time. The price point is pretty good: $21.48 purchased a quart of hash, and a rib sampler. The single rib was huge and meaty (membrane on), with a light and pleasant rub that allowed the flavor of the meat to shine. This is a really good rib. The mound of chopped pork that accompanied the rib was beautifully sauced ... but the hash is superb ... so much so that my original order of a pint turned into a quart! You should give this one a try. read more

I ordered Rib Dinner, it was nasty; meat was not done all through. It was tender and then tough had to throw the majority of my dinner away. Beans okay, hash and rice watery no favor, Mac/cheese awful bland, and potato salad was very good. This was my first time here, being new in the area and read positive reviews. I know this is a staple in the community, yet it is not for me. The service was professional and pleasant. It is outside, sitting area is available though; so ambiance is nice. read more

We love to stop by Ronnie's to grab quick take out. We always enjoy the food and friendly service.

It makes absolutely no sense how good this food was. And AFFORDABLE!! Rib dinner plate is 9.99 on Fridays and Saturdays and it took me all day Saturday to finish all of this. 3.5 juicy, meaty, ribs. Coleslaw, hash and rice, baked beans, and a slice of bread. For another $1.00 throw in a can soda to wash this down. The hash and rice had a distinct taste to it. A little vinegar-Ry, a little heat, but something about it made me kept eating it, Lolol! Ribs were tender and juicy. The meat melted in your mouth. Even included an additional cup of sauce. I didn't eat the coleslaw, was just too full to try it. It's a take out type of spot and there is a small patio area off yo the side. Or a park area nearby if you want to pig out in peace. Friendly staff. Very professional. Ribs are worth it! read more

Gyromania is a good lil Greek restaurant in Elgin, in the same building that was the HWY55. Great food, service us good, they need to work on cleanliness. We've been here 3 times already a 1 out of the 3 they were really busy. However our last time I seen 4 tables needing cleaned they had 3 girls who take orders 2 of them were not busy, so I'm nfs who cleans tables but apparently not the ones who takes your order. So they needed spoons & knives, they had forks, but the food was pretty good. This time I got the gyro on Pita and Greek ff good stuff. My honey got just the gyro on Pita. Yes we will go back. I just hope it's got clean tables. read more

Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe the food here! There's almost always a small line which goes to show how popular they are!

The ribs tasted OK but over the years they had a new way of cooking them instead of the grill. They have some type of smoker. Taste is not the same as before. I understand they use that to save time, but I like them better off the grille. read more

Delicious BBQ and the best hash and rice I've ever had. Service is always excellent and fast.

Ronnie has the kind of ribs that win competitions. They are flavorful, they fall off the bone, and they make your mouth water thinking about them. Service is very good at that little window, and they are very helpful with anything they can help one with. It's a great place. read more

Oh yeah I think I found a spot for ribs... My only regret coming here was it was near closing time and I couldn't sample the full menu. The ribs I got (.5 rack) were great... I ate them without the sauce and that was perfect. They were falling off the bone, juicy, and filling. The only other thing I wanted Tom try was the turkey wings. The price was good too. I need to come back and try more of their foods. Oh and the staff was great and friendly... I will be back! read more

Best ribs in Kershaw County. It's not a mustard based BBQ. I'm not a fan of the mustard based type so this works perfectly.

I was not impressed at all with the food here. The ribs were tough and just not what I was used to being from Texas. Service was fast as I ordered at the window. Maybe, I went on a bad day but the impression did not leave me wanting to return. read more

Absolutely the BEST BBQ I have had in a long time!! Finally gave this place a try...we are picky on our bbq I have to admit Carolina's bbq isn't our cup of tea anyways...this place isn't bad not the worst but also nothing to sing home about...the meat imo lacked some flavor I got the pork it was just ok and husband got the ribs some of them were good a couple just ok so maybe it was just the day and the sauce is super runny but the flavor was actually pretty good...we would give this place another shot though maybe picking a different meat next time to see how it compares read more

Delicious baby back and regular ribs, quick and courteous service. Clean outside dining.

Ronnies Ribs should never be over looked. It is located in the tiny town of Elgin but, there is nothing tiny about the food that Ronnies produces. You dont go into this place, but instead order at the window and either wait at the picnic table or sit in your vehicle. It is literally just a smokehouse!!! So, you know you're not getting some generic BBQ when you come here. The flavor of the pulled pork penetrates your taste buds and readies you for the ribs, which can only then be followed up by the tenderest chicken. Wash all that down with their heavenly hash & rice. I could go on and on but, now im hungry so i will leave you to make the right decision as i make my way BACK to Ronnies Rib Shack. read more
