This is a review of the office staff, particularly the lead receptionist--one of the rudest and most unprofessional staff members I have ever encountered. For two years, I have tried to schedule an appointment with my doctor, but every time I call, she abruptly tells me the earliest date is four to five months away. When I explained my urgent need, she became defensive, told me to find another doctor, and hung up--something she has also done to other patients. Her behavior has repeatedly prevented me from seeing my doctor, as she shows no willingness to accommodate earlier appointments. This receptionist not only lacks basic manners and empathy but also displays a combative attitude and poor interpersonal skills, making her unfit for a role requiring patient care and respect. I am not alone in this experience--multiple Yelp reviews report similar incidents. I love Dr. Rong Huang. At 74 I've had a lot of general practitioners and I like her the most. Have been seeing her since 2007. She's well up on her medical knowledge, and is always interested in me as a person. Kind, sense of humor. Just one of my favorite people. Excellent doctor, who my wife and I have been with for nearly 4 decades of excellent care. Every one of the half dozen friends referred to her --including one adolescent---have thanked us. Very understanding, as well as direct and precise. Her understated sense of humor make it easy for a male patient (age 76) to discuss even intimate matters (and endure the--ugh-- yearly intrusive prostate gland check, which is, sadly, required by my family history.) When there will be a med student in training doing transcription, the office clears it with you. In having to sort out insurance tangles, and occasional schedule mishaps, I've found the front office quite expert, patient and courteous. Yelp and consumer reviews are there for a reason, and I should have taken heed. The trusting person that I am I signed up for an appointment and set myself up for one of the worst experiences with medical providers I've had in my life. On March 3, I arrived for a doctor's appointment (I mistook the doctor's name to be a male doctor) for regular check up. Upon giving my insurance details I asked the front desk helper to ensure I wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket for the visit and he assured me everything was covered by the insurance. When I realized the doctor was a female, I immediately asked for a male doctor for reasons for comfort when it comes to intimate tests. She immediately asked the office help to book an appointment with one Dr. Robinson, a male doctor, in mid April. I was about to leave when she pulled me into a room and started asking me a bunch of questions. In my head I thought that was weird because I had booked an appointment with a male doctor. But out of politeness I responded to her questions and shared some of my problems with her. She then suggested Flu and Tetanus shots. When I asked her if these were covered under insurance, she said yes, so I complied. What was weird about the experience was that the whole time the door was kept open. In that small cramped office, the noise was at extreme level (four or five medical people shouting into phones all at once, etc.) and also there was no privacy. The small room was unsanitary, piled to ceiling height with random cardboard boxes, and things strewn all around. Cut to a few days back when I saw they had charged twice. One for preventive care ($240) which was covered by insurance. The other for New Patient ($340) for which I was charged $250 out of pocket. I called back to complain the new patient shouldn't have applied because I hadn't been explained about this and besides I had asked for a male doctor and scheduled an appointment for the original intent of my visit. I got May on the call. Rude as others have reported before me, she immediately started scolding me. She blamed me for rescheduling appointments with Dr. Robinson. A few days ago the office had called me to say the doctor couldn't keep his original appointment and if it was okay to move it up by a day. I said, sure, no problem. Now May blamed me for inconveniencing the doctor by moving the appointment and hung up without trying to resolve the issue - with insurance agent on the other end. Today I got call from the guy at the front desk who had signed me up first and from whom I had sought assurance that the insurance covered everything and he had replied in affirmative. On the call, he started off by regurgitating sales pitch about how the hospital upholds its integrity and customer service, etc. Talking about the false charges and their lies and malpractices, he finally said it was all me, that I had brought it upon myself. $250 will not break my bank. But if I caved in I will be encouraging them with their malpractices and lying and scamming new patients, and their overall unprofessionalism. Therefore I have decided to take them to court. If there are others who have similar complaints and want to join me, please message me. To others looking into using their services, stay away. In 2018/11, I made an appointment with Dr Kun Huang, since she was out of town, her sister, Rong Huang saw me instead. Here is the strangest experience started. Because I basically just brought my former form to asked Dr Rong Huang some questions, before I left their office, I asked if I have a co-pay. They told me I don't have to pay. After a month, I started to receive mail that says I owe them $25 . I immediately called them, the lady on the other side of the phone told me she didn't see I owe them anything. Since then, I keep receiving mail every month, and endless phone call from them said that I owe them money, 2, 3 times phone call every week, since 2018/11 until now 2019/9. I had made trip to their office the beginning of this year, and asked them if I owe them money I can pay now. The two ladies at front desk checked their computer carefully, and told me there was no balance left in my account. I said there was an lady kept calling me to pay, are you sure? They said May was in charge billing, she must misunderstood some information, they told me no worries. So I left. After that, endless mails and rude phone calls have never ended. Yesterday(2019/9/27), I need my TB test result from them, so I called them. May answered my phone. I asked her if I can get my TB result. May : "You still haven't pay your $25, since you are overdue 90 days, you need to pay another$25 late fee. Total $50." Me: '' But you guys told me I didn't owe anything. " May:"Whoever told you that , they are wrong. They are no longer work here. You need to pay $50 now" Me:'' But it is not my fault. Your employee told me that. I can pay you $25, but I am not responsible for the late fee." May:" I DON'T WANT TO ARGUE WITH YOU!! You need to understand that everybody makes mistake, those two ladis made mistakes, they weren't trained for billing. I am the one who collect the bills. I called you and mailed to you many times, you wouldn't pay your bill. You wasted a lot of my time. " Me:'' I walked into the office,I believe what a real person told me rather than someone over the phone to ask my bank card number. Can I talk to Dr. Kun Huang?" May:"YOU ARE MAKING YOURSELF DIFFICULT! NO! Kun huang is not here. Dr. Rong Hung is busy. She doesn't have time to talk to you! " Me:'Can you deliver a message , say I would like her to call me back when she is available?" May:"I will tell her you refuse to pay." Me:"No, that is not what I say. Please tell her the truth, I am willing to pay what I owe, but I am not responsible for your employee's mistake." I waited all day, no body called me back,so today(2019/9/27) I made another trip to their office. It took me 20 minutes to get there, arrived at 10:30.The girl at front desk told me that Dr Rong Huang was busy. I asked if I can talk to Dr Rong real quick. She told me she can't interrupt DR. I had waited about 40 minutes. Meanwhile, no greeting, the same way they treat other patients, no expressions, indifferent answers... Finally, when Dr. Rong Huang came out, I was trying to tell her what happened, he seemed very busy, didn't let me finish. she told me that, the reason her stuff got confused is because I am patient of Dr. Kun Huang, under kun's account, I don't owe anything. But under Rong's account, I owe Rong $25. so those two ladies didn't see any balance last time. She also told me no more argue, she will take care of it. Me: But May was yelling at. And how much do I need to pay? I want to take care of this problem now. Rong told me she was very busy and told to talk to front desk. So I went to the front desk, told one of the lady what DR said. I am still confused how much I need to pay. The lady told me to wait and talk to the Rong. This time I waited again, it was almost 12:00. I went to the small room behind their front desk, asked Rong, how much I need to pay you? Rong seemed very mad, " why did you come in? I am busy right now. Don't you see I have other patients waiting for me? I told you I will address it. " After this conversation, I understood where May's rudeness come from? When your doctor doesn't care about their patient, the quality of their job, how can a clerk care? When I was ready to leave, May came out to me, and said , You don't need to pay today. Rong will ask kun to put your balance under kun. I said, do you mean you still asked me to pay that $25 in the future? She answered in a haughty voice, if you visit kun next time, you need to pay $25. But today, you are good to go. This is more of a review of the office staff and billing clerk and reflects the capitalization of the work they do. I've been going to this office for years and had been seeing Kun Huang and while she was on vacation they scheduled me for Dr. Rong H. As I thought they were in the same practice I had assumed that it would be a general visit. Rather they billed me for a new visit which per coding guidelines would have been an average of 45 min and a through exam. The Dr. never touched me and she couldn't remember the actual illness I was referring to until I searched it up for her on my phone. In the end I was left with a 300 dollar bill for something that should have been a standard visit. What made matters worse was the billing clerk Jennifer tried to defend her coding of the office visit by saying they had policies on what is considered a new visit and she sent me blog posts from the internet on what the timing of a general new visit should be. This was not her office policy or formal handbook. It was someone's opinion on the internet. I challenged her because the service itself did not reflect the medical coding definitions per the National CPT handbook and could have been considered fraud because those visits are about 5-8x more expensive. I told her in fairness I would pay for 2 office visits because I was seen but not per definition as nationally accredited coding book. She instead sent me to collections. I would clarify every time the type of visit and code you are getting from this shady office clerk. Its unfortunate they've lost a client. Over what - one office clerks pride? Good luck. read more

I have generally been able to avoid doctors for the most part, but this last year needed to find one. I saw Dr. Kun Huang because she accepts my insurance, was in a convenient location, and I was able to get a same-day appointment when I really needed it. All other places I called wanted me to wait one week, since I was a new patient. Dr. Kun Huang treated me very respectfully, carefully listened to my concerns, answered all of my questions, and took her time addressing all of my issues. She was not patronizing. She made suggestions without pushing them. She did not have a "doctor ego." The front office staff are not the friendliest, and tend to be a bit short, but are certainly not mean. Overall, when I really do need to see a doctor, I am glad to go see Dr. Kun Huang. read more

Fabulous, smart, caring, and patient primary care physician. I went to Dr. Kun Huang after my previous PCP sent me to a cardiologist because she was too incompetent to read a ECG. The cardiologist told me my heart was fine but that I should find a different (i.e. competent) PCP. So, she gave me the name of her PCP - Kun Huang. Several years later I was talking with a well-respected oncologist and she told me that Dr. Huang is an A++ doctor based on the thorough reports she receives from her when they have patients in common. Dr. Huang knows what tests to do and when to refer. What more can you ask? read more

This office deserves 0 stars! Very inefficient stupid and rude receptionist! Two months ago I called to schedule a first appointment for a relative who regrettably switched to Anthem who has the same medicor customer service as this doctors office but that's another topic. So I call and they say they were closed due to Covid 19 and only taking phone appointments. That's fine. The stupid girl answering phones asked for the patients information and after providing all this, first she said she couldn't locate the name in the system, then she said the info did show up but the patient was no longer with anthem and anthem booted her out. I said she didn't know what she was talking about and told her to get stop making things up and provide a date for a phone appointment asap because the patient needed prescriptions urgently or get me another receptionist because she had no customer service skills and didn't know what she was doing but said she was the only one there. This scum of a receptionist suddenly said this wasn't working out and abruptly hung up on my face! Where was the customer service? I had to call anthem and they confirmed the patient was a member and I explained what happened and anthem said they would get a first appointment for the patient. Never happened and this crap doctor never called back! That stupid receptionist has no customer service skills and who is she to decide the call is not working out?! she is suppose to help and figure things out not hang up! I went to this Dr Kung Huang a year ago and i was not very impressed but still received average service. One thing i did not like is that they use another person in the patient room during the visit who i guess record everything said during the visit. I felt uncomfortable to have someone beside my Dr listening to my personnel and confidential issue (If you don't want to share be aware). Anyways passed that i went back recently for a physical and had some discussion about my health in general and as asked by the Dr IF I HAD ANY HEALTH CONCERN i honestly responded that yes i had back issue and so forth. Well Surprise i was charged for physical and medical. When i called Lea who is, i guess the front desk lady, she took time to explain to me the charges. I did agree to all of that only and only if this was true. First the Dr only recommended me to a physical therapist but did not bother to order some X rays to verify if Therapist was needed or may be confirming her diagnostic and at least justify the service and the charges (I would of accepted it) NO she Just listened, gave me her thoughts handled me a Business card of a specialist. I asked why we are not told at the beginning of the visit here is what is physical and what is medical visit just by honesty to the patient. I was told that the Dr don't tell that to the patient. And....why not?? SO if i understand when we go to the dDr for a physical, at least for Dr Hung if we are asked how do you feel or any health concern just make sure to lie and say no all is good and be alerted all the time of what you will be saying that might be interpreted as outside physical and chargeable. (FUNNY) Also i received a second bill from the same Dr and this time for reading me the results of the blood work i did. They required me to come to the office right away. I was very worried about this so i went out there and the Dr started telling me that i had a high Cholesterol and that i had to do things...the usual speech but i did appreciated. However this did not require a Dr visit since i've had already had this issue for the last 5 or 6 years and all my previous Dr's were just giving me a call and explained that to me without any alarming emergency office visit. So Why again having me come so i can get another bill an charge from this Dr. (She already knew through my past visit with her about my cholesterol. Don't care about the money but at least justify the money you are charging for in a descent and honorable way. Nothing i can do i will pay and look for another Dr who believes in ethic more than money. We are put in the way where Dr has a full freedom to evaluates without any control of any kind- They charge your insurance- The insurance charges you- You file a claim with your insurance and the sad part is that the Dr is always winning at the end. It is at their own and solely discretion. And no i am not angry just disappointed of some Dr practices but this is our medical system. I will leave these people to their consciences read more

My Asian parents visited the office for my mom for the first time last year and were lied to by staff and doctor into thinking their insurance covered the consultation. While insurance took care of preventive ($450) they were billed $350 for out of pocket charge for new patient intake. When mom got on the phone, she was talked down to by one May, who blamed my parents for having bad hearing. My wife has seen Dr. Rong Huang for years. If I didn't already have a wonderful doctor myself, I'd switch to Dr. Huang. She makes you feel she has all the time you need, when I know, being a physician myself, that this is not the case. Nevertheless, she doesn't hurry you, doesn't interrupt, shares her thinking out loud, asks questions then LISTENS, and invites you to ask questions. She is a gentle soul and treats you with kindness, consideration and respect. You are part of her team, not just "a patient with symptoms." Being a physician myself, I can attest to her diagnostic acumen and medical smarts. When I've attended appointments with my wife, I learn new things from Dr. Huang. I can't rate her higher than a 5-star on Yelp, but would if there were more stars. I've never met a better doctor. read more

I've only been to Dr Huang twice, but she was excellent and attentive each time. She ACTUALLY LISTENED to me, and spent time discussing my questions and concerns. Her explanations were very thorough and I didn't feel rushed at all, a rarity for many doctors I've found. Horrible, horrible, horrible. -They assured us they took our insurance, and since we found this office from our health insurance company's doctor search for our specific plan, we felt reasonably assured that this is the case. -It turns out they no longer participate in our health plan, but didn't bother to update the insurance company, so they're still listed as eligible. -So, we received a medical bill that isn't covered by insurance. -When we brought this to their attention, they told me they always recommend patients check with insurance first to determine eligibility. However, this was not the case; they assured us they took our insurance. Both the front office and the doctor herself. Repeatedly. At the time of the visit, they assured us that we "have nothing to worry about." -Couple days later, when we approached them about a possible discount, they accused us of making up stories to lower our medical bill. "It sounds like you are making up stories so you don't won't have to pay your bill." Wow. Really? If this can save any potential patients from similar headaches and unexpected medical bills, it has done its purpose. read more

Dr. Kun Huang has been my PCP for many, many years. She is not only smart (she is a MD/PhD) but kind, considerate, and really listens to my concerns. She is unfailingly courteous and never hurries you through the appointment, and her references are spot-on. a work about her fantastic staff - they are very respective and professional, and can always find a time on the same day for an appointment. the front office staff of a doctor's office is very telling to how the office operates and the doctor's they represents. Dr. Rong Huang is smart, wise and so very kind. There is another Dr. Huang in this practice, Kun Huang, MD, but this review is for Dr. Rong Huang. I have been seeing Dr. Rong Huang for about 15 years as my primary care physician, most recently in November 2013. Dr. Rong Huang attentively listens to my complaints, asks questions and explains in layman's terms what physiological process is going on and what the options are for treatment. I have visited Dr. Rong Huang several times now, and my experience with her and this medical practice has been consistently excellent. This included my initial new patient appointment where we figured out what lab tests to do as part of that annual check-up, my follow-up visit to discuss those results, and also a short-notice appointment they were very accommodating about. For the short-notice appointment (blood in my urine; "come in right away"), she met with me, examined me, gave me the lab slip, and we discussed antibiotics (I want to be cautious about using them). We agreed that she would prescribe one so the pharmacy would have it on file and I could use if it things got worse over the weekend; we discussed which antibiotic, and planned that I would call when the lab results were due to come in to determine next steps. When the time came for me to call to check if my lab results arrived, Dr. Huang called me back promptly, told me what kind of critter the lab found, mentioned that it's pretty responsive to a variety of antibiotics (including the one already prescribed for me), and we figured out the next steps. Dr. Rong Huang seems quite knowledgeable and seems to take a very considered, non-dogmatic approach to her decisions from everything I've seen. I tend to be very active about asking questions (such as pros and cons of certain lab tests, whether others are worth considering). I have been impressed with her knowledge and willingness to engage and keep me informed as a patient. It also helps that her communication style is kind and gentle, though that's not as important a criterion for me in choosing my doctors, but I know it's very important for some people. High ratings across the board based on my experience. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Kun Huang for about 10 years. She had been highly recommended by my cardiologist. Suffering from diabetes, heart disease and kidney problems excellent medical care is very crucial for me. Dr. Huang has continuously provided me with outstanding care in a very personable way. She takes ample time to listen and to explain her recommendations while showing a good sense of humor. She also makes time in urgent cases instead of referring you to the emergency room like so many other PCPs. My adult daughter was a patient of Dr. Huang while she lived in he area and now she takes care of my stepdaughter as well. I have great respect for her and could not recommend her any more highly. read more

First of all, I would not have gone here if they did not say they would take my insurance. But both the office assistant and the doctor assured that they would, so I trusted them and went there. I paid co-pay and that should have been all I have to pay. At least I believed so at that time. However one month later I received a bill ...the charge they said I should not have to pay! I have been going to Kun Huang for over ten years. She is a thoughtful, intelligent, respectful doctor who takes her time to listen. She knows when to refer to a specialist or research a problem. She never makes you feel silly for bringing up a concerns or gives you the feeling you are wasting her time. I couldn't recommend her more highly. read more

My mother has been seeing Dr. Rong Huang for almost 10 years. Not once has she ever experienced any negative treatment by Dr. R. Huang or her office staff. Dr. Huang has always been both very professional and personable. She is a very caring and patient doctor. She is always very attentive in listening to her patients' problems and provides the best professional advice possible. I think the intention of those negative reviews was to undermine both Dr. R. Huang and Dr. K. Huang and their office staff. Regardless, I believe patients themselves should also take equal responsibility of their own rude behavior and bad attitude. Overall, I don't believe those "one star" reviews are a bit helpful to me, and they are also being unfair. Most likely, those incidences were exaggerated out of resentment and misunderstanding. read more
