Wonderful location! Our family loves Mexican food, so we are pleased as punched, to see this new location here in Lake Forest! I believe I've been to one of their Sister stores, the food looks delicious, as you know from my reviews, I love Mexican food ! Beans, rice, and chili tamale, all flavorful. Was told that, yes to make the Horchata here, and yes, it is delicious! Service is great and atmosphere very pleasant.

I had the fish taco and the chicken taco which were on their special. The fish was good but I did not like the chicken taco since it was fried and inside is a big piece of chicken breast but it was only 1.19 and lyou cannot beat that price. there is a salsa bar to pack your own sauce, friendly staff.

Get the chilaquiles!! Came here a couple times and the food is always good. Service is great and they let you help yourself to their chips and salsa bar.

Gave only 4 salsas total for 3 burritos and 2 tacos

Not enough salsa for 3 burritos and 2 tacos, added the notes for each item but wasn't followed and receipt has the notes as well. Never ordering from here again.

Amazing Monday California Burrito Special! (See pic) California burrito, beans and rice side and a drink for $9.99. really quite a great deal. And to top it off the burrito, beans, & rice were great. Salsa bar has 4 salsas big chopped onions, carrots and whole peppers that you can take with you. That is also pretty great. Daily specials every day.

Pozole

I ordered the Pozole. Came with a pint of bones and some weak broth. Flavorless, dry and with 13 pieces of hominy in the quart of soup? Awful! Also got three cheese covered taquitos with a splash of guacamole. Completely disappointed. Tried calling them. They don't pick up the phone.

Most seating is indoors with a couple of outdoor tables too. I ordered a hot Spanish latte plus chose a blueberry jam muffin from the pastry case. And a Campfire Cookie as a bonus. The place was fairly full but I found a seat at a counter. The Spanish latte was superb with smooth coffee and cinnamon flavors that blended for a perfectly balanced profile. I appreciated it was at an immediately drinkable temperature. The muffin was really, really good. Really. It was moist, fresh, and full of blueberries and a layer of blueberry jam. The big cookie was quite good, although in all honesty I've had better in this genre. I didn't stay long as there was some annoying guy who'd set up office at a table with his AirPods firmly inserted and loudly giving legal advice in an obnoxious manner that is typical of ambulance-chaser lawyers. Why do coffee shops put up with this?

I was surprised it was hard to find parking on a Weds afternoon. Brunch was spectacular! The chicken was nice and crispy, and the slightly sweet gravy complemented it perfectly. The garlic sauce was also so good with the country potatoes. The weekly special of the souffle pancakes were so fluffy and creamy. Loved the macadamia nuts paired with the coconut ice cream for an extra touch of texture and flavor. Such a unique taste for these pancakes that tasted so good. The sweet tea with fruit puree was so delicious and refreshing, love how it did not taste too sweet and enjoyed the texture and taste of the berry puree. And guess what?! Free refills on the sweet tea berry puree!!! Yayyy!!!!! The vietnamese coffee was a classic pick-me-up for a brunch morning. Can't wait to visit again when I am near the Irvine Spectrum! There's limited indoor seating, but plenty outdoor. The only issue is that there are a LOT of birds who will steal your food if you're not paying attention. Other than that it's a fun brunch vibe in a bustling area! I got the breakfast quesadilla with carne asada and it was MASSIVE. I literally ate it for 3 meals! I loved how cheesy and stuffed it was, and they were not skimpy at all on the carne asada either! The carne asada was also juicy and tender, which is nice because I feel like some breakfast places have really dry carne asada. The sauces and pico it came with were also good and my favorite was the creamy green one. Potatoes were nice and crispy too. I come back here all the time and it's definitely worth the wait!

What else to say about Chaupain, except it's always exceptional?…read more I'm biased - but their pastries have got to be the best in OC. This is the 3rd Chaupain location I've been to, I happened to be in the area. It's smaller than the one on La Paz in LN to be sure, but ample size enough to provide anyone with full tastes of their amazing goods. I like everything - I've tried nearly all of their pastries and cakes, this time I tried the cinnamon roll- which was insanely good, soft, and tasted of such quality. Actually - never tried their quiche, which is certainly on a bucket list for next time. I highly recommend everything they have - but just to name a new, the guava cream cheese, cinnamon cream cheese, mixed berry bateau, opera cake, vanilla scone, any of their croissants, lemon tiramisu, and the jamon sandwich is incredible - I love that the bread had a chewy texture, which is perfect for this sandwich. Adding any of the American condiments would almost be a sacrilege, but a bit of dijon is good, which they have there in packets- the flavours work so well together. I really struggle to restrain myself when coming here, which necessary for your wallet and your waistline - but whatever you decided it's all good here. The customer service was also stellar - very friendly, helpful, and personable. Thank you !
