I came the Rona to pick up a few things for my home. To my surprise, many of the items for example silicon or construction glue are sold in the big tubes that require use of a caulking gun. I was looking for something small. Plus I also didn't want to find or purchase a new caulking gun. Service is ok. I feel like this store isn't really open to small homeowners but more for handyman or people in the construction business. The parking lot looks small but it is never full. Finding a parking spot isn't an issue here. The store has ok ceiling height but when you walk in, it makes you feel like you are walking in a big warehouse. I also noticed that their inventory are quite dusty. I bought plumber putty and the top of the jar has a film of wood dust on it. The plumber putty was still moist and fresh so it was not due to it being sitting in the store a long time. It just so happens that this store is dusty. read more

I was at Rona on Edmonds St in Burnaby today. The selection of products was refreshingly different than that found at Home Depot, and the prices were competitive. I found the staff to be helpful and courteous and had the pleasure of meeting AJ the store manager.He was genuinely concerned about my shopping experience. Went to this location looking for plant pots and potting soil. I asked the cashier if she could page someone to help me with questions about potting soil. The cashier paged on two different occasions and no one came. I waited 5 more minutes before putting everything back and walking out. Ended up walking down Edmonds to the Home Hardware and got everything I needed, plus customer service. Hope this review inspires this Rona location to review its customer service policies and procedures because this situation was completely avoidable. read more

This store/location needs some work! The parking lot is extremely small, and so is the store! We couldn't find what we needed and the prices were higher than other hardware stores. When you enter the cash register is right there which created some discomfort when walking in because it already looked crowded before entering. I would suggest some renovations and/or a even just a better layout. There is tons of space in between aisles so the space could be used better. read more

I had a really pleasant telephone experience with the customer service desk (male) and the staff at delivery/appliances (female). It started off as a tedious process because I called several departments and no one picked up. I was literally going in circle, but once I got a hold of someone, the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The lady I spoke with in particular was great! I had questions about appliances and she took the time to explain the different costs and steps (parts, gas permit, removal costs, delivery) for each appliance I was considering. Extremely unpleasant each time I visit here. I leave the store disgusted each time I visit. Not only do they not have the greatest selection of items, but customer care is one of their least concerns. I visited twice looking for a bathroom faucet part and the customer care people were condescending and rude. When I asked where I could find the spare parts, they refused to answer the questions about the products. This one old employee kept trying to tell me to buy the entire set and when I asked for places that sold single parts, he started arguing with me and refused to help, then he walked away and refused to answer any more questions about their products. The Gods have been looking down at me for the past 2 weeks and getting their fair shots in when it comes to humoring themselves. Amongst the many things that have happened, my boyfriend managed to break the handle on the toilet of his bathroom last night...don't even ask. These things don't happen in my bathroom but I'm not saying anything nor am I judging. Anyways, didn't work late tonight because my intentions were to pick up new parts at the local Rona depot. I really don't like the idea of him using my bathroom but that is a whole different topic. I know the woman will understand what I mean. It was a class act from the minute I walked in. Not knowing where I would look for this type of thing I asked the cashier and she immediately directed me to isle 13 and while I was walking there she paged someone to help me and said customer is on her way. I made a mental note to thank her on the way out cuz I don't know any cashier that does that. She was on the ball. The competence continued with a very helpful gentleman in the bathroom parts area who proceeded to hook me up with the various things that would do the job. All in all I was in and out of the store within 5-6 minutes tops. I am not used to getting such superior customer service but it is apparent that it runs abundant at this location. Always good to support Canadian ;) Not as large as the box store, but it's quite large enough to find whatever you need. Pretty good service tonight, and surprisingly pretty quiet. Returned a motion sensor that simply required too much electrical, no questions asked. And another clerk offered to go get a halogen light while I did my exchange, and recycled the old bulb that I brought in. Too bad 90W the only brightest ones on the market. This place is pretty mediocre. At least 1/3 of the plants in the outdoor section were dead and crispy, like full on brown cedars everywhere and wilted flower baskets. The staff are few and far between, and I guess overworked and underpaid based on the attitudes. I sometimes go to the one on the north shore and its like a night and day difference, organised big and lots of nice staff. Meanwhile at this location you're constantly walking around discarded boxes and crap all over the aisles. You'd think this one was a discount location but its not. Avoid! read more

I've been here a few times now because I didn't want to make the trip to an actual tool store. The selection is not great for tools. So it could be worth it to drive and extra 10-15 minutes to go to a tool store. Don't buy any of the Haussman brand tools. They're pretty much the worst and will cause you more grief than anything else. For tools this place isn't great. Maybe if you're in an absolute pinch. read more

Went here the other day to grab a couple of things. The one star I gave this place was for the friendly gal who helped me to the area I needed to be in for one of the items. The store had a terrible selection of stock and none of the items I wanted to buy. I ended up buying a couple other things and the gal at the cash register was NOT happy to have to deal with a customer. Half hearted greeting when I walked up, no smile no energy, she almost seemed depressed. She barely made eye contact and when the sale was done no have a nice day, just a very unhappy looking face. This place is close to where I work but I'll be travelling further to a real hardware store from now on that has a good selection and happier check out staff. read more

This location has been the bane of my existence. They either have really good service or really horrible service. I have given this location 4 stars because the last few times I have been there have been positive. This store is small in comparison to the usual big box home improvement store but they have a lot of items and if they don't have it in stock they can order it in. They are definitely comparatively priced and Canadian, for those who like to support Canadian businesses. Oh and for those that like to collect Air Miles they also are a participant, however you may have to remind the cashiers as they don't always ask you if you have it. read more

We drove all the way out here for a 3X3 plot of artificial turf that was advertised as being in stock on their website only to hear that the manager made the call to move it into the back. When asked if we could purchase one of the 25 plots, they refused to get it from the back until next season. I could understand that it isn't a popular purchase right now during the winter, but if a customer is standing in your store wanting to pay you money, it is in your best interest to both make money, and make the customer happy by selling them an item that is in stock. The Rona website offers "in store pick up" yet we can't pick it up or even purchase it if the manager refuses to put in the effort. We were told that the store is small, which may be why it was moved. This is completely understandable, however the item wouldn't take up any space because we would have never let it touch the precious floor, and walked right out the door with it. read more

I asked for a rain check but she refused to give me one and insisted that I come back another time before the sale end to try again. This is just ridiculous. This location works really well for paint, plumbing and hardware advice, and for the things you can't find at HD. (Dependant on who's on staff at the time.) Watch the hardware pricing though.The lumber side isn't as good, it's usually about 20% more than elsewhere and the quality is spotty. I find it's great for those things you forgot, or didn't know you needed. I don't agree with other reviewers about the stocking situation, very rare here they don't have stock in what they carry. (Unlike the HD's close by, where commonly used items like deck screws, gang boxes and rolls of sheet plastic are completely sold out. Those who shop lots will know what I mean.) read more

I think even 1 star is too generous for this location. I live in this community and like to support local shops. I haven't felt this bad about an experience in a long time so I felt inclined to write a review. This Rona is probably why so many are being shut down. The customer service I received from multiple employees at the Edmonds location made me regret even going to this store today. If you don't like your job, why bother working there??!! It's sad, but this is why many people will be shopping elsewhere, including myself. Shame on you Rona for making your community members feel like crap. read more

Love this place. Went to another home improvement store and the staff were not able to meet my needs so I went to RONA at Kingsway and Edmonds in Burnaby. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A few steps into the store I was greeted with a smile and someone was helping with my needs. I needed some wood cut for home DIY projects and they were very helpful selecting wood that was straight and aesthetically pleasing. He actually looked at each piece of wood for quality before confirming with me. I gave him the measurement instructions and went off to gather my other supplies. I was able to find everything else I was looking for and came back to find the wood nicely packaged and waiting for me at the checkout. As I was paying he came by and offered to bring the wood to my van. To sum up: Spent 45 minutes at another store walking around trying to find supplies. Left with nothing and frustrated. Spent 20 minutes at RONA and left with all supplies and feeling great about the experience! This is my new first stop for all my home improvement needs. read more

On Oct. 4, 2017 I visited this location to buy some lumber and screws. I brought the lumber on a cart to the lower cashier and said I needed screws which were in a different area of the store where the lumber cart would not go and told the cashier I would be back with the screws. When I returned there was one customer ahead of my cart so I stood aside and waited. Two more customers came behind me and to my surprise she took care of them before me. They actually had to go around my wood cart. When I finally got to check out I asked her why she avoided me in favour of other customers. She actually thought it was funny. I talked with another employee in the store and expressed my unhappiness and left. What terrible customer service in this Rona store. I used RONA's installation service for a deck project and had an awful experience. RONA advertises that there installation services are simple, reliable and worry-free however this was not the case. I had no previous experience doing any sort of home renovation so I thought going with a large Canadian company would be a safer bet. I've never been more wrong. They advertise that they use certified contractors however in our installation, our contractor appears to have subcontracted to one of his family members who was clearly not certified or skilled. They demolished areas that weren't supposed to be demolished (which they billed us for), the finishing was incredibly sloppy (gaps that were covered with 1 inch of caulking, uneven railing, loose boards, unpainted areas) and worst of all the deck leaks! They also have a very confusing billing system leading to several discrepancies (and I am not talking about a few dollars but the discrepancy was in the hundreds of dollars range). This was eventually refunded but if anyone has ever used RONA's installation service, they need to check their billing because chances are, they are bursting with mistakes. Another significant problem I had was with how one of the refunds was given. One of our numerous billing errors was refunded to the subcontractor in cash! Not surprisingly, I never received the total amount from the subcontractor. I have spoken to their store manager but over a year later I am still stuck with a crappy deck that leaks and no compensation from RONA. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER use RONA for any of their installation services, I f I could give negative stars I would. read more
