Prices are crazy right now, Christmas trees no exception, but this specimen was true value for money, and Ed Wilkerson and his staff couldn't be friendlier, more helpful, or more expert. The staff was very helpful. He found exactly what I needed. On top, he said if it doesn't fit, I am free to return it. Luckily everything worked out well. I was happy. The location was great and convenient. This is a neighborhood store. Most of the customers here are locals or living in the hood.

Items they can't stock due to their size can be ordered online and shipped to the store. Yet I shop there as infrequently as possible. Why? Because they presume every customer is a potential shoplifter -- they require all bags to be checked at the entrance. Is this a huge inconvenience? No. But since merchants must now charge for shopping bags, I generally carry one with me, and no, I don't want to have to leave it behind while shopping. No other business in the area treats their clients with such derision. If I can buy elsewhere, I will.

My mother has been trusting in Hewer Home Hardware for many years. Upon arriving at the store we spoke to 3 different employees about heaters, their knowledge was politely negligible. It was up to us to read all of the boxes and try to figure it out for ourselves, the conclusion was that there was nothing appropriate in stock. It is annoying enough to be misled, but when you are elderly, with mobility issues, and have trusted a business for 30+ years it is extremely dissapointing.

On my last visit I was asked no fewer than *eight* times if I needed any assistance. Once was appreciated (although I didn't need help), second was sweet, third was grating. And then I was just annoyed by the last five. Although I like the idea of a local helpful store, being fawned over as a customer is uncomfortable. I'm sad writing this review -- I do appreciate well-executed customer service but I can't handle the pre-programmed, robotic, and sickly sweet questioning at Blight's.

It's a pretty effixient efficient system. They also carry sand topping mix, which is sold out pretty much everywhere else in Vancouver. Prices are competitive, not cheap but not expensive.
