**Update** I attempted to upgrade my vehicle wiring from 6V to 12V and had some challenges and…read moresetbacks. After exhausting all efforts, deep $$ into an upgrade kit, at this point I needed to hire what I thought were professional Subject Matter Experts (SME) to clean this up and get me on the road to enjoying some cruising wellness in my vehicle. I did some research and found this shop on FB marketplace with good reviews and I reached out in need of assistance. This mobile wiring business started off pretty good, on the phone, the owner seemed confident in his/their work after I explained "my" vision for my vehicle, not his vision. Essentially, I asked for a clean install, working gauges, lights, and to ensure it was safe to operate (Electrical wise). The customer service while scheduling my appt was awesome, they got me in two weeks earlier then they initially stated (8/17) which was great but I paid $900 (Agreed) extra for this, provided my own wiring harness (Which is an option), and additional things such as bulbs, etc. As a kind gesture for taking on the work and getting me in, I provided the crew lunch and waters. Unfortunately, their performance did not measure up to the task.
Positives:
Scheduled me earlier than initially stated.
Old wiring removed and wires were cleaned up. **They installed black tape to all "under dash" gauge and light wires which I feel wasn't necessary, maybe in some other customer applications, but not in my case (In the case future things needed to be traced/fixed, it would be somewhat efficient if not all wrapped in black) which had to be removed to trace wires which started determining the outcome of this review.**
3 member crew on installation day.
Oil pressure gauge functioning.
Courtesy, dome, dash lights function.
Headlight switch (Seems to function properly).
Negatives:
Fuel gauge not working (Owner tells me before leaving it is a bad sender, it's not...confirmed by another shop) not hooked up properly. Also the owner stated he was going to check the sender but since it is on the "bottom" of fuel tank, he never did (Seemed as if that was too much to do) and in fact it is on "top" of the fuel tank.
Temperature Gauge not functioning. No power to gauge (Confirmed by another shop).
Ammeter Gauge not functioning (I asked for this service and explained what he needed to do with the power wire that was already there. He removed that and then told me they were not able to get it to function (Confirmed by another shop).
No power to gauge regulator that I asked for them to use and install (Provided) to protect my gauges and for the 6V gauges to work properly on 12V. They partially hooked up, incorrectly, and the wires coming from it were not connected appropriately (No power, confirmed by another shop).
Driver side parking light does not function properly.
Underhood lamp was mounted incorrectly. Initially when the owner showed the light emitting on and off it looked proper however as he was showing me he never fully closed the hood. Once the hood was fully closed it busted the bulb rendering the light useless. Come to find out it was mounted to close to the cowl.
Trunk light not working. Owner stated they would fix, never did.
Crank but no start. Owner said I wasn't getting a spark. I handed him a new points setup for my vehicle but they didn't install, just looked at it, explained a few things (Which I wasn't buying) and did not provide to assistance to install.
Fuse box location (Just look at picture, common sense says it shouldn't go there. SMH).
Dash lense installed while dusty, so dust is trapped in dash and is visible with dash lights on. Could have taken a few seconds to wipe down before installing (Lack of attention to detail).
So, with all of this...The owner did not do a full walk around with me testing and ensuring the work and service I paid them for was completed and functioning properly prior to leaving and to top it off he tells me if I have any issues or need anything, it would be two weeks before they could come back out to fix, what I am seeing now was his prideful mistakes that they should have remedied prior to leaving or IDK maybe ask for an extra day or two to ensure the customer is satisfied. To sum it up my car was essentially in the same state it was in when they left for the exception of cleaned up wiring versus 74 year old wiring they removed.
Immediately, on the next business day my vehicle was towed to another shop where the diagnosis and troubleshooting began and was shortly evident as to my suspicions that Autoelectric Works lacks the professional skill to accomplish the customers needs with integrity. Initially I gave them 3 stars, however after further diagnoses and troubleshooting as stated above, they have been humbly reduced to 2 stars. This is my experience. I do not recommend Autoelectric Works for any custom wiring needs to your vehicle. Consider at your own risk. Respectfully.
