I pretty much hate going to Home Despot so, Rompage has been my go to choice for years (starting back when it was on Hollywood Blvd!). They may be a bit more pricey than HD but these days, it doesn't seem that way and you get personalized service... which is worth whatever extra it might cost. No waiting for a floor person to come to your aisle and give you wrong info! Today I had to replace two door locks and have them keyed to my old key. It was done quickly (there's a $9.50 charge for each lock re-key so it was $38 & the cost of the two locks and 2 extra keys, just over $100 but, having a locksmith out would have cost at least twice that amount. It's a great mom and pop feeling old fashioned hardware store and much appreciated. read more

Thank you yelp for finding this cute little hardware store for me! I was a bit worried about parking in this part of town - but they have a parking lot (!). I just needed a key made and after going to home depot, parking in their gigantic lot and searching for their key making area, found a sign saying that the machine was out of order. Fail. Well, I walked into Rompage and a kind gentleman immediately came to ask what I needed. I told him a key, and he took me right over to the key making area (about 5 feet from the door), made my key, and I was out the door for $2.50 (cheaper than Home Depot too). I'll definitely be going here instead of the intimidating Home Depot in the future! read more

It has parking and had everything I needed: glass drill bit, landscaping fabric, and outdoor thermometer. I noticed they also cut keys, have a very good dog, and knowledgeable folks that will help you find what you are looking for. Warning: not for the claustrophobic. They have most of what's in Home Depot in a tiny 2 story building, it's inevitable that it's going to be a little jammed. But that's also the genius of this spot. At Home Depot or Lowe's I walk endless miles to get everything I need, but here everything is close at hand. read more

Old school is cool. Rompage Hardware continues to be a one stop shop for this local resident. I've lived in Los Feliz for close to 6 years and have never visited the goodness that is Rompage and left empty handed. Whether the item you're looking for is random or specific, chances are, they got it or can get it. Rompage Hardware is filled wall to wall, floor to ceiling with everyday stuff. It's a feat unto itself that they are able to fit so much stuff in such a small space...relatively speaking. Family owned and in business for the last 20 years, Rompage Hardware is convenient, value-oriented and dependable. They've got their own parking lot and most of the folks who work there are friendly and knowledgable. I've never had any issues with questions being answered or service being performed. If you're looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of the local Home Depot and are trying to get in and out without so much of a hassle, Rompage is the ticket. Rompage is a common hardware store of this type with typical inventory. You may see a few specialty tools here that are not available at local competitors. They were nice to me here and placed a special order. My compliments for that. Rompage has always been very anal at closing time. Then folks often came in horse-drawn carts, they also provided the wood and canvas for the infant film industry. Small and easy to find those unusual things; nice, knowledgeable staff. I needed a new longer version dead latch and was directed to a "knowledgeable clerk" who assisted in helping replace the item I had with me. I noticed that the protective plastic covering on the edge was a little ratty looking but as this was the 'new' part he gave me, I assumed it would have no problem so I went ahead and purchased it. I even asked to be sure it was returnable just in case. Well I had to return it as I ended up having to replace the entire door lock set. The problem was that the same clerk had to re-examine the returning part to make sure there were no "issues." He claimed that the part I was returning was now used and the protective plastic cover piece was ratty and even showed me his box of the same parts only they were really clean and new with nice new clean protective plastic covers on the ends, compared to the ratty looking one he gave me to purchase. I told him I don't know anything about what was in that box because he never showed the box to me when he pulled the rattier looking part out that he gave me. I asked to speak to the manager who came out and was basically giving me the same line that I should understand why they were questioning me about the part because the item I was returning looking pretty shabby compared to what was in their inventory box. I questioned why then did they sell me such a beat up looking part? I exclaimed that I was just purchased this a few days ago, it had NOT BEEN INSTALLED NOR USED AS THEY CLAIMED IT WAS, and THAT I EXPECTED A FULL REFUND OTHERWISE I WAS GOING TO MAKE A BIG STINK ABOUT THIS. Needless to say, I was fuming, but I got my refund. If this store wants to sell their crappier looking merchandise on some woman thinking she won't know the difference, they picked the wrong woman. Next time, I will question any merchandise and not accept even crappy wrapping on it - it will have to be in PRISTINE condition before I pay full price. This was the first purchase ever at this hardware store, never again. I am an apartment owner and I can understand if wrapping is a little beat up but don't tell me I used the damn part and now I'm trying to return it as a beat up used item - I don't do that. I will never buy here again. I wonder if this clerk by accident accepted this beat up return from someone else and he was trying to get rid of it on me thinking I wouldn't notice anything. This hardware store happens to be within walking distance of a part-time job I have. (Yes, I sell crack and I am a pimp-daddy). The Caucasian owner is married to a Pilipina (sp?) and they often share snacks with me as I drop $50 for a putty knife that would only be 12 Cents at those corporate places (OSH & Home Depot) around the corner. So ---- there is a 4,000% mark-up on stuff? Well, what do you want? You can get plenty of attention and there is usually no wait. So --- Rompage is conveniently located, the people are SUPER helpful (Nate is the man), and they seem to have everything I need, except for feather replacements for my cap. read more

Tiny hardware store you'd easily overlook on Western just past the Rite Aid... I came here when the nearby behemoth Home Depot didn't have a part I needed to adapt my faucet to the new filtration system I got. Service was thorough, friendly, and I got just what I needed! It's the cluttered kind of local hardware store that reminds me of ones from home I'd go to with my Dad as a kid... definitely will come back for any pet projects, key duplicates, or little fixes I need. Came here after leaving HD to find a closet/cabinet lock not a type that is made or sold often now. The service here was by far excellent and greeted me as soon as I came inside the store. Very fair prices and if they don't carry what you are looking for...they can usually have it in a couple of days. Terrible customer service and unwilling to help fulfill a large paint order because "they were closing soon and don't get paid overtime." This is sad to me that an owner wouldn't want to pay his staff to complete a customers order that would take an additional 20 minutes after closing. I called in the order 20 mins before arriving and yet they still wouldn't complete it. Maybe it's my fault for not knowing the order earlier in the day but I really feel like this is just another case of the declining customer service out there. read more

I have been a customer of Rompage for about 10 yrs. Yesterday, I bought some water connectors that DID NOT FIT, along with about $140 worth of other plumbing supplies. Today I went to return the connectors that DID NOT FIT, and they refused to refund me. 'They do not have the labels' said the cashier. But when the 'manager' came, he said they were 'scratched'. IF they fit, they're NOT VISIBLE, they are under the sink!!!!! Rompage, you have LOST a customer. NEVER AGAIN will I step foot in your store. I needed to get a key cut for a new lock installed by my landlord. I tried at OSH, their machine didn't work. I got 4 cut at Home Depot and none worked. I couldn't get it done at Lowe's because the key given to me by the landlord was actually longer than the standard blanks [which was why the Home Depot's didn't work as they were cut on standard blanks by machine]. So it turns out I need a by hand cutting which Rompage was able to do. Thank goodness. Nothing like a skilled tradesman when a job needs to get done correctly. I should know to always go there for my key cutting. read more
