We stopped in Friday night, four people. Place was full to capacity. Asked a nice lady for a table, had no reservation. She said that it would be at least 90 minutes, but check the other side, as those are first come, first serve. Well everything was filled. We were plotting our never move when the owner came up to us. He asked us to hold on for a minute. When he came back he said we could have a table in fifteen minutes. So we went to the bar for drinks, and within 2 minutes he had a table ready for us. Also our server was friendly and efficient. And the food was very good. First of all 90% of the time the food is excellent. Unfortunately tonight it was not. We waited over an hour for our food. The steak was cooked the way I ordered it but cold, lobster was cooked perfectly but cold as was the corn and the rice. My friend ordered chicken BBQ and it was not only cold but also dried out. Bottom line - decent food and rock bottom beer prices. I cannot remember a place with such cheap beer especially by the pitcher. Most are $6 and even some of the fancier beers are only $8/ pitcher! We went here with friends on a recent Friday after they had rediscovered this place from the olden days and were enthusiastic about the beer prices. This is a basic Irish/ blue collar bar. We did eat dinner here - a few ordered the fish fry which looked good but it was breaded not beer battered my preference. They said it was good. The beans and greens were deemed a success and my lasagne was huge and pretty good (could have used a bit more sauce). I am guessing their bar standards like wings and burgers are pretty solid. Romig's is so fantastic. I can see why it's been around for a bazillion years. It's divey - but that's part of the Rochester charm ;) The prices are out of this world fantastic and the food...best bar food around. Pay $5 for a pitcher of Labbatt Blue, $4 for a pitcher of Genny Bock, and anywhere else, that would be around $8-$9. I love the atmosphere and the bartenders are very attentive. I've never had a problem with the food; I actually really enjoy it. Even when it is PACKED; the food always arrives pretty quickly and it's steaming. The wings are HUGE and awesomely sauced...and priced so fair. I'm also a huge fan of their onion rings, fries, open faced turkey sandwiches, and unlimited pasta nights. Romig's is Rochester staple (and a Raiders bar...go Patriots ha!) and I can see why they have been around for so many years. Prices can't be beat and the food is great. "Straight out of central casting" was my first thought. Imagine if you're watching a movie where a character walks into a small town dive bar- that's the feel walking into Romig's. We went for a birthday party on a Tuesday night and I didn't know what to expect walking in. The bar fills 4-5 storefronts in what seems to be a former strip mall and the first 3/4's of the bar seems to be an Irish pub/ college bar style place while the last 1/4 at the end looks like a VFW hall where you would go for bingo or a fish fry. We were surprised to find out that all pitchers, no matter what type were $5 on Tuesday, and after looking at the beer list we noticed that the most expensive pitcher was $7 on a normal day! We are used to paying $5 for a can of beer and $6 for a pint. Some of the $5 pitchers were double IPA's which would run you $6 for a 10 oz glass only 5 miles closer to the city center. There is quick draw and a scratch off machine for your lotto needs. There were a few bartenders working and the girl who waited on us was great. We didn't eat on this trip but some friends did. The menu is a typical bar food type menu with a few extra items. People in our group had the taco special and a pulled pork sandwich and both enjoyed them very much. read more

Unparalleled. Even before my experience last night I was quite taken by this place. A friend of mine had mentioned that they have something called a "Trash wrap", and being a garbage plate lover I had to make sure I wasn't missing out on any Rochester treasures. TGE, as we fondly refer to the night before Thanksgiving, is a night we historically go out or throw a party and enjoy life. Romigs had a Thanksgiving special meal of turkey with ALL the fixings for 4.95. Unbeatable right?! Well, we were sitting at the table debating on that or a trash wrap (the goto now) when we thought about the thanksgiving wrap! Take all the goods and make a wrap with the same concept as the trash wrap but use all the turkey day goods! All excited about the idea we told the waitress about it (like it was this great new idea or something) and she said "yeah, we've been doing that all night". Happy that great minds think alike we ordered four. It was ridiculous. I have never eaten anything like it in my life. It came with gravy to dip it in. Forget spreading all that stuff out on a plate and thinking you are creating a smorgasbord of love. Take all that deliciousness and stuff it in a wrap then deep fry it. The result? No going back. My thanksgiving meal today will be good, but it will forever be minor league to my new Thanksgiving love, the Thanksgiving Trash Wrap. Did I mention beer prices? My wife and I stopped into Romig's Tavern for the first time. A small, but nice outdoor seating area sits into the parking lot. It's surrounded by a shiny green-painted wooden fence. I don't know what the color is actually called, but I vote for "Happy Green." Somehow, that perfectly describes it. There are two sections inside. One is a friendly bar atmosphere with some tables. The other is a dining area. When we arrived, there was a multi-generational family of eight enjoying their dinner and laughing. Two separate couples were ordering. We both had a bacon cheeseburger. I asked for mozzarella cheese and roasted red peppers. A basket of fries and two glasses of white zin completed the order. Our burgers were delicious. The onion rings were the fat ones made from real onion slices. The breading was crisp and nicely seasoned. Our waitress seemed like an old friend. Updating from a 3 Star to a 4 star review after having a wonderful time last night at Romigs! Our server Emily was AMAZING! She was attentive and brought us round after round quickly and was fun to interact with. She made the night great! The fried zucchini was great, and the basket of tator tots was good too! She recommended shots as well. Great asset to this business! Even though it was busy due to a high school reunion, we never felt ignored or neglected. Food and drinks were Stellar last night. As a patron at this establishment, who works I customer service industry, I was part of one least respectful and tactless encounters I have by owner of the busines, he was announced if anyone had a black pick up I responded yes he said move it, without question I walked out to move vehicle he proceeded to follow me out and berate me for parking in the spot saying " you didn't see signs" when I responded no, his tone elevated "really you didn't see the signs!!". when I made to my vehicle there was no sign for spot one next to it said employee parking nothing in my spot. he then proceeded to stare me down until vehicle moved.
