I called and left a message for Romberg Tree Service on a Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised when Brian called me back within an hour and set up a time to come by and see my trees. Brian came back a few days later and gave me a verbal quote of $600 to trim four trees. He said that his crew would be back to do the work "sometime next week." Two weeks went by and I called Brian to see when they were coming, he said one more week, which was ok. It would have better if he had communicated with me. The day finally came, and the crew seemed friendly and thorough. I was a bit surprised by how they topped the trees since most tree experts will not top trees. They say that topping will promote unhealthy tree growth at the top. Later I also realized that they only trimmed 3 of the 4 trees that we agreed upon in the verbal quote. I asked Brian if I had misunderstood something and he said he didn't think so, but they would have to come back another day to trim the last tree. I should not have paid him, but I did. Brian seemed like an honest guy, maybe he's just forgetful; forgetful of the verbal quote he gave me and of coming back to trim the last tree that I paid for. Lesson learned! read more

I give him two stars because Brian seems like a nice person. I have been trying for weeks to get him back out here to remove bees I have 36 feet in my tree. He made it out the first time but they needed a longer ladder. Was supposed to be out last Friday and didn't make it. Told me he'd be back this Friday at 3:30 (today) and I've already called him to see if they were still coming and He said he'd have to contact the crew to see if they were still going to make it and he'll Again call me right back. He's a really nice hearted guy but he keeps saying he can make it but then doesn't show up or seems to forget. Every time he's told me he'll call me right back he never does. Since this is not my permanent residence it frustrating to make the trip up here again and as of now the appointment is less than three hours away and I don't even know if he's going to make it. read more

He is very unprofessional, doesn't take care of business and LIES through it all! We used him to remove a bee hive in one of our palm trees, but he did an inferior job!! We've been calling him for OVER ONE MONTH now, asking him to please come back and finish the job properly by removing ALL the bees that we still have. We've been very patient and polite in dealing with him, as we believe "you get more bees with honey" (pun intended), BUT each time he gives us another excuse OR HE LIES AND SAYS HE'LL BE OUT "TODAY OR TOMORROW", BUT HE NEVER SHOWS!!!!! DO NOT USE! DO NOT PAY UP FRONT! Brian shows up to quote the job, but then a separate, unattended crew comes in to do the job. I called him to trim a birch tree and pull out some old shrubs, but while he was here he suggested they grind some old stumps and pull out some old rose bushes. They got half the job done and left. When Brian showed up later to collect payment he said they had to take one of their machines into the shop and would finish in the morning, but still requested full payment. After calling him for two weeks, one of his guys showed back up for 10 minutes to complete what I paid for and STILL didn't finish the job. On top of that, the guys broke FOUR sprinkler lines grinding old stumps that I had to fix myself. Brian won't return any calls and I had to trim my birch tree myself. read more

I called a few companies to trim a couple large trees in my yard and Brian was the only one who answered the phone. He scheduled an appointment for an estimate and showed up when he said he would. He quoted me a reasonable price so we decided to move forward. I had left my trailer in the street and forgot to move it before they got there and they offered to move it out of the way and put it back when they were done, without giving me attitude about it. I thought that was pretty cool on his part. They trimmed the trees and cleaned up after themselves when they were done. Overall, great experience read more

Very disappointed in Romberg Tree Services's. I don't feel like he even deserves one star but that's the lowest rating we can give! Originally when he scheduled us for a quote I was stood up. Romberg said himself "oh yeah I forgot an emergency came up." (Felt like b.s.) I should of known from then, but I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. Flash forward we hired him, and showed him the two trees we wanted service on. He and his crew have poor communication skills because the workers cut the wrong tree! After the error he left the wrong tree half cut and will not it make it right. He took a 86 year old lady's money and ran! He is a thief if you ask me. Do a horrible job and then take the money and run. We have used their services for years and always had a great experience until now. We have written good reviews of them before. We had them out to our San Bernardino property for the annual cleanup, tree trimming and de-weeding of the beds as usual. The owner took the money up front as we have done in the past. A crew arrived on a Saturday to do the work. To our surprise the crew only stay for a few hours and then up and left without the job even being close to done and without telling us. They arrived to finish the job on Monday, only to work just a few hours and then leave again without being close to done. Called the owner and he sent another crew a few days later to finish the job, but they refused to work after they saw what still needed to be done. The owner then showed up to look at the job a few days later and agreed that they did a horrible job and needed to come back and make it right. We are still waiting for the come back..... three weeks later. The yard looks worse now than when they started. Avoid using them at all cost unless you like being taken advantage of and losing your hard earned money. read more

I have an a massive Cottonwood Tree in my front yard that previously dropped a huge branch. Brian's company was the only of the several that I called who was actually willing to trim the tree and not just remove it for thousands of dollars. Now I have his company come out about every 5 years and lighten the tree. He comes himself for the quote, then shows up with the crew, gets them started and then comes back when the job is done. This year we cut it a little harder and his guys did a great job. Was fun to watch the main guy WAY UP there with his tethers and chainsaw. I called Brain Romberg to spray a tree and do root treatment. He came over the next day. He said he would be back in a few days and do the job. After a week with no contact from Romberg I called him to follow up. He told me he was going to do the job that same day late afternoon. Needless to say he never showed up and was rude on the phone. I then started calling around Redlands to people in my network who have interest in this business, Nursery owners, Landscapers,,,, I was told that my experience is a common experience with Romberg. From all the input I received and my personal contact with him it appears that he is a old guy who is a self absorbed, arrogant, pompous ass. I then called Tres at Johnny's Nursery in San Tim Canyon and received outstanding service from the other end of the service perspective from Romber's unprofessional behavior. If my job was more then his capabilities, the descent thing he should have done was to be honest and admit to his ignorance. This man is a dead beat who gives Redlands a bad name. read more

When I first met Brian Romberg I thought I had contacted a reliable tree service. He went into each item that was to be done in removing ten Cypress trees that had become a nesting site for rats. His crew was three hours late in arriving but got the job done OK, although the trunks of the trees were not cut off as low as Brian said would be done. They also did not apply a spray intended to prevent the trees from growing again. I wanted the wood from the trees, so it was being cut in firewood length, and piled up at the end of the row of trees. When I began splitting the wood, I found pieces of tree trunk that was from two and a half to four feet. Pieces that size will not fit in my log splitter. I called Brian and was told someone would come out and cut the wood and apply the spray. No one showed up. I called again the next day and was told by Brian that someone would be out either that day or the next. No one showed up. Brian was so nice when we first spoke that I did not expect to be doing part of their work to clear my patio. I did not know I was going to have to get a chain saw. Addendum - On May 9, two of Romberg's crew showed up and cut the wood that had not been cut to length. Thank you Brian. read more

Brian Romberg purchased plants from our Nursery in Riverside, CA. The $1500 check was returned by his bank for insufficient funds and we NEVER received payment on it. It was very hard to get in contact with him. When I did reach him, he acted as nothing. He promised to come into the nursery in person to make a full payment on two separate occassions. We also sent him countless collection letters, including by certified mail. We sent him to collections, and reported him to the county District Attorney for bad check crime. We still haven't collected on the payment-it's been 3 years now. This man is BAD NEWS. Do not hire him. I think he knew EXACTLY what he was doing and never intended to pay for the merchandise. Romberg came out to trim a tree ONLY and they did a horrible hack job on that tree (I think it was the guy with the broken arms fault he couldn't hold the chain saw with two hands ACK) Then they REMOVED a perfectly good tree, tore down a pop up canopy and threw it away finally I don't know if they were horse playing of fighting but one guy tossed another guy into my shed and damaged it. I suppose there is a reason he has a F rating on BBB and a low rating here. Also you must question why three business name changes in two years. read more

Incredible service and work! I called yesterday in AM and was told by Brian (owner) he would gladly get me an estimate. He called back late yesterday in PM and gave me an amount which beat the other prices by 60%. Arrived on time this morning with his crew and they did an incredible job and paid close attention to detail! Our palms look soooo much better! This was a small job no doubt but his crew has also done some BIG jobs for us at another property! His crew did a great job on trimming trees but Brian never returned to finish other work that he agreed to do in the estimate which was supposed to include systemic treatment of 2 trees, fertilizing 4 trees and root pruning of 1 tree. He was paid the total amount (MY MISTAKE) and then never came back to complete the work. I have called him about 6 times (no exaggeration) to request this completion, he always tells me that he will call me back or come on a specific day but then does neither, which seems dishonest and unethical.Would not refer anyone to him or use him again. read more

Although my first experience last year with Romberg Tree Service was disappointing, this year was MUCH better. When Brian sent his team of workers to trim the trees in our gated community, I spoke with Jim, one of his guys, about my concerns. I feared that my patio cover, pots, fountain, or plants in my small backyard might get damaged by falling branches, as happened last year. Jim told me he'd be sure to be careful, and he and his co-worker did a great job! This might have been a 5 star review, but Brian originally said the trees would be trimmed in March, and it didn't happen until April 13th. The tree was removed with the promise that the workers would return to grind out the roots. They never completed the job in spite of two follow-up phone calls with lots of promises from Brian. Now I'll have to pay to have another service grind the roots so I can replant. Not happy. read more
