It was our first vacation with my boyfriend. He wanted to make it special. He had contacted "Romantic Room Designs" to plan the whole trip for us. The owner of Romantic Room Designs had recommended great hotel, great restaurants and exciting activities (biking along the coast, helicopter ride, private sailing cruise, sunset beach fire) along with the beautiful room setup! I was extremely amazed and almost speechless (but still jumping up & down with big smile on my face!) when my boyfriend showed me all these "surprises"! I felt like the luckiest woman in the world~ When we checked in the hotel, Romantic Room Designs had delivered a gift basket to the hotel room. That was our picnic basket for the bike ride along the coast the next day morning. After the bike ride, my boyfriend took me for a helicopter ride!! One of the most amazing experience in my life, I felt like in the reality TV show! When we came back to the room, the bed was full of rose petals & candles. There were two dozen of roses on the night stand. It is absolutely beautiful & romantic! Next day, my boyfriend took me for a private sailing cruise. Romantic Room Designs prepared a gift basket for us to enjoy on the boat. In the evening, we went to a beautiful beach in Carmel. When I saw the bonfire on the beach and the "I Adore U" words spelled out with rose petals..... my heart was melted. I was taking my partner out for a romantic weekend in Monterey and came across this business through yelp to help spice up the hotel room a bit we'd be staying at. Upon reaching out, they contacted me back rather quickly which I appreciated very much. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is due to the fact that I feel like the decorations used were rather cheap. I got the "romantic evening " package which upon getting to my room looked very much like plain dollar tree decorations. Okay, so I was planning me and my girlfriend's 5 year anniversary weekend trip to Monterey/Carmel. I originally wanted to book a spa day, but then I was on TripAdvisor where I saw a picture of this bonfire setup on the beach with the whole sha-bang: blanket, roses, pellegrino water, ingridients for making s'mores, and 'I heart U' spelled out with roses petals in the sand next to the fire. Luckily, the picture had a caption that said 'Courtesy of Romantic Room Design' so I googled it and found it and they totally live up to their name. So, for a kinna high price, someone will setup this romantic sunset bonfire setting in Monterey or Carmel and will email you exact directions on what time to arrive and where to park and how to find the bonfire. Even though I was doing last minute planning, they were able to do on the day I wanted. TIP: call them directly instead of paying it online because they have a weird payment setup using Paypal. I was upgraded to the Carmel beach for free (normally the upgrade would cost $20) Everything went according to plan. At exactly 6pm, we arrived to the bonfire with the fire going already. My girlfriend was so suprised and she loved it. Although there were some problems: 1. we were given Kirkland Signature bottled water instead of Pellegrino listed on the website (They emailed me and said the bottle broke on the way to beach) and 2. They didn't give enough extra wood for the fire. Although we didn't see the sunset because it was foggy and there were other groups of poeple having parties/bonfires around us, it was still romantic. It's as if Hitch himself set it all up for me. This place also decorates your hotel room in Monterey or Carmel in rose petals and candles while you're out to dinner so you're automatically guaranteed some loving when you get back. There's a bunch of different decoration packages on the website. And if you're thinking you can start up a business like this, don't bother because they're planning to expand their business to other metro areas like the bay area. read more

So after reading the reviews I wanted to do this for my gf's bday weekend. However when I called, I was told that a few items on their website description are no longer being offered (I wanted the Sunset Beach Fire Picnic kit that comes with service and a few minor perks). Thus I was only offered the Beach Fire Kit (its do-it-yourself). The delivery of the package was ok as it made it to the front desk however I was not informed that i came in 2 separate packages so when the hotel mistakenly only delivered 1 to my room, I was initially upset that i did not get what i ordered. After contacting Brian, who was awesome in response time even late in the evening, I had to leave our dinner location which was RIGHT INFRONT of the bonfire permitted beach to go back to the hotel to get the 2nd package. Other than having a few old items listed on their website that they can no longer offer but kit that was sold to me was as advertise. I didnt see the attentiveness that other reviewers posted about tho as I wouldve liked to have planned a bigger weekend for my girlfriend. read more

"I'm just going to put this out there... This may be the most romantic thing ever." - My girlfriend after I surprised her with a beach bonfire on Monterey State Beach from Romantic Room Designs. My girlfriend and I were in Monterey for the Big Sur Half Marathon, and I thought it would be very romantic to watch the sunset from a beach the night before the race. I found out about this activity through a random Internet search, and boy am I ever happy I did! The kit includes a setup with a fire, a blanket, ingredients for S'mores, mineral water, and flowers. This service was worth every penny. I called Brian (the owner) on Thursday morning and requested a fire for Saturday. He quickly walked me through the options (feel free to ask him any questions; he knows the local area very well and he tracks the weather conditions carefully). To summarize, there are two locations to light fires; one in Monterey and one in Carmel. Since the race packet pickup and our hotel were closer to Monterey, I chose that location. Many people prefer Carmel because it has a more direct view of the sunset, but the sunset on Monterey State Beach is also very pretty (the sun sets over the hills in Pacific Grove and the city lights start to come on shortly afterwards which makes for a very magical sight). While we were on the phone, he forwarded me Google Maps with directions and lots of street view pictures and instructions on how to find the setup; it took all of the stress out of planning how to "happen upon" the fire. Everything went perfectly on Saturday. We arrived a few minutes before our designated time (which I chose to be 4PM, an hour before sunset), so we had to walk along the beach for a bit and loop around before I surprised her with the fire. The fire is very close to the beach access point in Monterey, so I suggest you either show up way early and walk a fair distance so a loop looks legitimate or show up on the dot at the designated time. In a box next to the blanket and fire, you'll find S'Mores ingredients (a pack of Graham crackers, two bars of chocolate, and a small bag of marshmallows) and skewers, and mineral water and cups (feel free to request still instead of sparkling if you prefer that). To add a little personal twist, I brought along a saucepan, hot cocoa mix, and UHT milk which doesn't need to be refrigerated and we made hot chocolate on the fire! The roses were also lovely... I would suggest you bring a vase, or if you'd like to be less conspicuous, use a large-mouth water bottle and keep the flowers in the cup holder of your car for the rest of the trip! There was plenty of extra wood, so we managed to keep the fire going for 1.5 hours (a bit past 5:30PM, just when it started to get a bit nippy). Cleanup was super easy; we used the little water bottle provided to put out the fire, but I suggest you bring your own larger one just to make sure it's out. Then, we just left the skewers and lighter on the blanket and took off to enjoy the rest of our trip. And don't worry about wandering in the dark; they'll give you an awesome LED flashlight which is yours to keep. My girlfriend was literally floored by the experience. She had no idea this was coming, and she was laughing and smiling with delight for almost the entire trip afterwards. She has told me over and over again that she felt like she was the Bachelorette on TV, and all of her female relatives are already atwitter about how wonderful I am (although the male relatives now feel a bit more pressure than they did previously). I took my fiancee down to Carmel and I had Romantic Room Designs set up a beach picnic. We casually strolled down the beach and "accidentally" came across the picnic. This review is for the sunset beach bonfire product. I planned this as a surprise for my girlfriend and we both loved it. Brian, from Romantic Room Designs, coordinated with me over email a few days prior. My girlfriend and I had a dinner planned before the bonfire, and so I asked for the cheese and crackers substituted for some more expensive chocolate and it was no problem. My girlfriend and I arrived at the designated area at the beach a little early but Brian noticed and started setting up the fire and texted me shortly. We started walking towards the fire afterwards and my girlfriend was pleasantly surprised when she saw the flowers, heart, fire, picnic, and bottle with my message in it. If you want to surprise somebody with a sunset beach bonfire, I totally recommend this! I have one minor criticism: I didn't hear from anyone for a while after making the reservation online. But I eventually emailed them via the address on their site and got a response soon after. From that point, everything went pretty smooth. Last weekend, for the night before our wedding, we hired Brian Borgia of Romantic Room Designs to put together a bonfire party for us. It was fantastic, exceeded all expectations. There were about 45 of us; Brian set up the fires, chairs, blankets, tables, ice bin for drinks, tiki torches, etc. (we had it catered from another company, Brian doesn't do the food). I had some questions and he helped explain the different room designs and options. I decided on the Fire and Ice design. It was amazing. The pictures on the website don't do it justice. It's even better in person! When you walk into the room and see the trail of roses, the bed with the candles, diamonds and rose petals on it, your jaw just drops. I surprised my husband with this and when he walked into the room all he could say was "WOW! WOW, how on earth? This is amazing!" I also had Brian set up the bathroom with real rose petals lined on the rim of the bathtub and more candles. The door to the bathroom was closed and when my husband walked in, he again was floored. It looked absolutely beautiful. I am very happy I found Romantic Room Designs and guys (and gals) if you are looking for a unique and sure way to impress your sweetie, if you go with any of the designs RRD has, your significant other will think you are "da bomb".
