The food portions are larger and more fresh than I have experienced in the chain restaurants. I can honestly say the ingredients in a pizza or calzone are twice the amount in any of the local restaurants I have bought from within a 40 mile radius. It takes a wee bit longer to cut, slice, and dice food ingredients fresh for each order but we'll worth the wait. Having been to Italy several times over the years the atmosphere in Romanos takes a person an hour to view the ceilings, wall arts and craftsmanship and floor displays --true old world charm and milieu. Terrible went there and waited over a hour for our food. Then the food tasted horrible! The bill was over 70.00 for 2 entrees! I don't mind paying that if the food is good! I have passed this place many times on our way to Allentown, the Turnpike, etc... The neon lights always deterred me from stopping, not sure why. So after a day of car shopping in the Lehigh Valley, we stopped here for some spur of the moment Valentine's Day Dinner. Did not look crowded, and got a little worried. Being V day eve, thought it would have been packed. Upon entering, I was blown away. Very welcoming and cozy atmosphere. We were offered a table by the gas stove if we were cold. My wife darted right over ad said perfect. Waitress was friendly and prompt. Our drink order was taken and she said she put our knot order in. Waitress came back with drink and a dozen piping hot garlic knots. BONUS !!!!!. They were awesome. Our son ate 3 of them. We placed our order, my son had spaghetti and meatballs, my wife had the Chicken parm with bowties, and I had the Fettuccini Alfredo with broccoli and chicken. We both had salads with ranch and house dressings. Salads came out a coupe minutes later and were delicious. Perfect amount of everything for a salad. Dressings were very good. Their dinners are made to order so the entrée wait was a little longer than most places. Boy was it worth it. This was some of the best Italian food I have had in a long time. The portions were huge, I even had leftovers, and that is rare. Did not have room for desert. Will we be back, heck yeah.... So much more to try on the menu that sounded delicious. When leaving, we went through the bar area. What a neat area, very cozy. Seems like the type of place where you can sit and enjoy a few beers and have some pizza. As for the gimmicky neon lights, I guess it is to get noticed along the road. They do not fit the atmosphere what so ever. And to our waitress, awesome job. Visited back home this past week and was supremely surprised at this gem. I remember when it used to be a smoky country bar with pool tables and an air hockey table...Gee, wish I could remember the name of it back then, But now...WOW...New blood has come in and given this place LIFE. New Italian style decor, and it's an actual sit down restaurant, and a NICE one at that. Wine selection is fantastic. I had the Lambrusco and was giddy as a school girl. Fresh garlic knots graced the table along with our appetizer of antipasta. If I had known how large the portions would be I would have ordered less. I ordered the Pasta Aioli for my main dish and it was Delish ! Lots of garlic, enough to keep those pesky backwoods vamps away. Pros: taste of the food was good, though I didn't find it extraordinary as other reviewers hinted; portion size was appropriate; we liked the decor of the dining room; waitress was very friendly and provided good service; food arrived in timely manner Cons: table was sticky; excessive amount of sauce on my tortelinni made me feel like I had soup (the sauce literally covered the pasta so I couldn't see the actual food) and for me this is a big negative-- I want the sauce to flavor my pasta... I don't want to drink it As other reviewers have said the garlic knots were excellent! All in all, I would return here but ask for my meal to be light on the sauce. read more

The lack of concern for service is like nothing I have ever seen.. We made reservations 3 weeks in advance, between Xmas and New Years. Waited to be seated 10 minutes with an empty restaurant. Seated and waited another 15 for our drink order. My son physically had to go to the bar and ask if they were going to bring a waitress for our table. It was the Waitress's first nite ... She had Poor presence with her facial grimaces when we asked for her list of beers and if she could split the check.We came specifically for the brick oven pizzas.. The last straw was when We finally began ordering and the waitress said.. "We are out of dough" We quickly walked out never to return.. And this BTW has not been the first time at Romano's for poor service. I have given this place multiple tries! I'm done.. This is our neighborhood go-to spot for great authentic Italian food. The food is fresh so expect to wait for homemade style food, not fast food or freezer to microwave stuff. Everything prepped and made to order. The atmosphere is cozy. My husband usually gets the seafood combination but I like to have something different every time as there's a lot of good choices that are yummy. Most dinners come with a spring salad with tomatoes, peppers, cukes, and olives, and a side of garlic knots. The garlic knots are the best. Most places just put oil and garlic on their knots but here they are covered in a pesto type sauce with garlic - tastes incredible. Our family loves going here. I highly recommend Romanos. read more

I live in the area and have been to Romano's numerous times. Consistently I have had to wait an hour for a pizza. Most recently we ordered a chicken cheese steak and a chicken scallopini dinner. We were given a time of 30 minutes, got there and they charged our credit card before telling us they had no chicken for the scallopini so couldn't fill the order. Than we asked if the cheese steak was ready and they lied saying it was when they didn't even start making it. An hour later we asked for them to refund our card and left. And to make it even worse they didn't refund our card correctly and still charged us for a meal we never got. This has been our experience on numerous occasions in the past 10 years we have lived here. This is not acceptable and is very rude. We truly feel we won't be going there anymore and won't be upset if they go out of business for these types of actions. And to top it off when I called to question the missing credit on our credit card the owner was yelling in the back ground being extremely rude about the entire situation. They do not know how to operate a business or how to treat customers. We will never return and hopefully nobody else will either. read more

My fiancee' and I stopped by after after escaping the storm. It seemed like a safe harbour in the hectic rain, and we were both hungry. We were seated relatively quick. After we placed our order, we were informed that someone had found $20, and left it on my windshield. I figured it was my lucky day, because I had just finished telling my fiancee that I seem to have about $20 less than I thought I had. When I got out to the car, the cook staff was having a good laugh at my expense. Someone placed a novelty $1mil bill under my wiper blade. While I can appreciate a good joke, I thought this to be poor practice to a new customer. Especially since I was legitimately missing $20. We received our food. I ordered a cheese steak, and she ordered wings. We also got a plate of fries to share. Her wings were amazing! They looked appetizing, and smelled fantastic. I've had bigger wings elsewhere for less, but these were pretty good for the money. My cheese steak, however, left me longing for something better. It was not very full, and was nothing special. The only upside to it, they seem to bake their own bread, so the roll was pretty good. Overall, we probably won't be back again. read more

This restaurant has some of the best Italian food we have ever tasted!! The entrées are very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. We love the knots, they are like a little bread knot soaked in garlic and olive oil--best garlic bread we've ever tasted! We ordered the veal scallopini and veal marsala, which comes with the knots, salad and a side of pasta!! Veal was tender and delicious and the sauces were out of this world!! The atmosphere is like being in Little Italy and the service was excellent!! The next time we come to this area we will definitely come back to this wonderful restaurant!! read more

Then asked when they were closed, and the man who answered the phone told me it was none of my business what time they closed. Then has the nerve to call me back to tell me he doesn't need me as a customer, and that he isn't worried about anything. Romano's was amazing!! We had the marinara calamari, which was exceptional. It was fresh and delicious. I had the crab ravioli with pink vodka sauce. It was the perfect balance between tomato and cream based. My fiancé had the linguini seafood combo. It included scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels. All we're cooked to perfection. The only areas for improvement in this experience would have been that we had been seated by hostess (no one gave us menus and I had to ask for them) and that they didn't sell out of cannoli's . There's not many places left in this day and age like Romano's. Furthermore, isn't everyday you see the restaurant owner dressed in the role of head cook and willing to talk to you about the food preparation and how fresh it is, as well as interacting with the customers. Ben, the owner, a true class act. Guy is a genuine human being and made my family and I feel like a family friend rather then a first time customer. The food was excellent, service was excellent and the dining atmosphere was beautiful. Place is spotless. We enjoyed the cannolis. What a treat. Best we ever ate.
