Absolutely not ! Zero stars Anyone tells me they are having an event here, I'm not coming. This place needs a major upgrade with the food. It was horrible, just all around the few people I spoke to did not enjoy it AT ALL. My daughter hated the salmon, she didn't eat. The steak I heard was just as bad from another table. I'm a vegan so I called a month prior to this event to make sure they had options for me. The woman in charge (I forget her name) assured me all would be fine. The day of the event guess what...she had no idea what VEGAN was! (Why didn't you say anything when we spoke over the phone) You're in the catering business and you have no idea what vegans eat. That blew my mind! I had to sit there and try to explain it to her. That's NOT what I want to do at a family event. Nor do I need to hear comments on why would anyone be a vegan. She was much much older than I was so I was trying to be respectful but I was also starving. I have pictures of the sad plate of veggies they brought out for me with the tasteless pasta. A family comes here to share in a special moment together. Money was spent on all of your services including open bar, DJ & most importantly the food, etc. This place needs to do better! My sister hosted a surprise 50th birthday party last night at Roma View and it was such a great night. We had the largest room and an amazing staff to go with it. Our maitre d', Angela, was phenomenal. She was very sweet, accommodating, helpful, and on point. She aided our friend in charge with trying to keep everything going smoothly and keeping everyone happy since there were children at the party as well. Servers were also very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic and my sister told me that Angela was thoughtful enough to wrap up some of the leftover food for her, noticing that she was running around without a chance to eat. It had been a brunch from 1:30pm to 5:30pm. She was able to get in early to decorate and set up and all was great; from the dj, the photo booth, kids entertainment, and photographers who were able to post pictures of the party on the projector screen as the party went on. Thank you to the valet and coatcheck as well for your attentiveness. Roma View truly went above and beyond with their accommodations and on behalf of my family we are very thankful to everyone there. They are a Howard Beach staple for good reason. Five star service and highly recommend for all your important life events. read more

I had my birthday party here last year and it was beautiful and a very good space! The ceiling decorations are very pretty, the food was amazing, and the staff is very nice! Also the bathrooms are clean and nice and have a bunch of toiletries and necessities you may need. They also give you the bridal suite to get ready and leave you things. Also it was good pricing. But during the party we decided to add another hour which was an additional $1000. Ultimately the party turned out really great! Attended a fund raising comedy show here last night. $80 for a full buffet, unlimited wine, dessert and coffee. And comedy. Buffet had multiple salads, bread, bowtie pasta ala vodka, eggplant rollatini, stuffed mushrooms, linguine with white clam sauce, chicken parmigiana, chicken francese and broccoli rabe with sausage. Birthday celebration with the family. Loved the ambiance of the place. The staff were extremely helpful and on point in keeping everything fresh on the tables from the water to soda to drinks from the bar. Totally top notch. The food we had was excellent all around from the salad to main course. Excellent bar selections as well. My only disappointment was the coffee served for dessert(weak in flavor) but hey, not everyone can handle strong espresso so I'm allowing that to slide. Loved the view of the channel outside the window even though it was nighttime but still nice. All Covid-19 measures were observed and enforced so all can enjoy the venue safely. We tried Roma View this year for Easter. It's the only holiday when we go out as a family mainly for the children activities offered. We were all impressed with the delicious food, music and atmosphere; the service was impeccable. The only issue we had was there weren't enough activities for the kids. The girl they hired in charge of the children's entertainment did nothing but face painting. At other venues we have gone over the years, the entertainment for the children was face painting, balloon animals, dancing games with the children and pictures with the Easter bunny. The girl walked in and out along with the bunny. A little disappointing. read more

This was where my sister had held her engagement party for about 50-60 guests. She picked the basement room which I was a bit shocked about, but it worked beautifully! It had a separate set of bathrooms just for us and excess to outside for all the smokers, both of which were very convenient. The bar was small, but functional in the corner and there was a raised section for the DJ to set up so we weren't screaming to each other over the music. The food was really nice - tomato and fresh mozzarella to start the night off, along with pasta and tomato sauce. We had our choice of four entrees and dessert was the engagement cake that they included upon booking. Very affordable pricing too compared to other places. I am so late with this review but I had my 60th Birthday Celebration at Roma View on August 9th. The staff was amazing starting with the day that I went in to book the date. I was extremely late but my guests were well taken care of during the cocktail hour. Everyone raved about the continuous flow of appetizers during the cocktail hour. They talked about the shrimp to no end. The food was delicious and I really didn't understand that until the next day when I was able to eat from the take home containers that were prepared for me. I have been coming here the past couple of years because my cousin has been hosting a Christmas Party here. The food has always been really good. A great selection of Ribs, pasta, Chicken Parm, A few Vegetable dishes and such. The DJ was pretty good 2 years ago, last year the music did not seem as great. In our group we had somewhere between 30 and 36 people in the crowd so that was cool. There are other groups also there sharing the same space, other Job christmas parties but everyone looked like they had a good time. There is valet parking here but you can park on the street at Cross Bay Blvd if you know the area (just check the signs). read more

Just came from a sip and paint night here with my family. Let me start off by saying the place itself, BEAUTIFUL. The bathrooms were freakin immaculate = A++. Every SINGLE part of the wait staff was friendly; inviting and SUPER attentive. Even with about 10 different tables, they made their rounds quick. Hors d'oeuvres were OUT OF THIS WORLD. Consisted of, fried Mac and cheese triangles, chicken wings; fried ravioli (my mouth drooled eating these), pigs in a blanket, mozzarella sticks, pizza squares, jalapeño poppers, fried pickles, bruschetta and sauces to go with. When I tell you I am such a picky eater; everything was ON POINT! Their wine was also a very smooth and delicious Pinot Grigio- La Bella. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I wish I could've appreciated the water view but I'll be back. Very busy area in Howard Beach but they have VALET, so convenient! Went to a Christmas party on a Monday night.. valet parking was cool. Entrance was fine went into the wrong party went to other room down stairs. Definitely change in temperature, much colder down here. Open bar bartender was very good. Had the eggplant parmigiano, very tasty. This catering hall is owned by the same family as Giardinos and Russos on the Bay- both of which I am at often for parties seeing as I have a pretty big Italian family that knows how to partayy! Roma View has 3 different sized rooms for your party needs, all with dance floors in the middle of the seating area. The 2 rooms on the main floor have a great view of the water at their back windows. Whenever we plan parties here we are always assisted efficiently and have many options. After going to a few events in the past and my mother having my father's retirement party here a few years back my now husband and I were convinced this was the right place for our wedding. We met originally with Kathy for our original booking but everything there after we worked with Eric. Both Kathy and Eric were very professional, helpful and genuinely nice people. Eric was excellent at answering all our questions and helping to solve any problems we had. We couldn't afford their wedding packages so they were willing to do one of their premium dinner packages with some of the wedding amenities. It was nice being able to make those little changes and tweaks, other catering halls wouldn't make those changes for us. I felt like they were willing to do anything to make sure we had the special day we wanted. We received a price that worked for us and the service and quality of food we received was worth so much more than we paid! They have 3 different sized rooms to choose from, all of which have a dance floor. We had the Rhapsodie Room (their largest room) and my goodness was it gorgeous. We had a beautiful view of the water which made our day feel just a little more romantic when we saw a flock of swans swimming on the water (not their doing, but without the view we would have never seen it) We had both our ceremony and our reception in the same room and the staff were amazing at getting everything done and making sure everything ran smoothly and on time. We had a few delays but none were the fault of the staff. We were given white gloved service and the waitstaff were extraordinary. They were extremely helpful to both my husband and I and our guests. Anything we needed we didn't have to ask twice. My mother is handicapped and in a wheelchair and they went above and beyond to help her. The main floor is handicapped accessible. They have a ramp for wheelchairs to get in and out of the venue and the bathrooms on the main floor are handicapped accessible. I don't know about the downstairs room, since you do need to walk down steps to get to the room so I would assume it is not handicapped but I cannot confirm this, you would have to speak with someone at Roma View for a definite answer on this. But the waitstaff came to my mother regularly to ask if there was anything she needed or wanted. We also had a guest who was suffering from cancer (my brother's girlfriend) and became ill during the reception. She was also in a wheelchair and They brought her to one of the rooms that was being unused for some privacy and provided her with anything she needed. I felt that was just amazing. They didn't have to do anything for her, she could have just left but they made sure to help her so they could stay. I felt that was just spectacular service. I don't remember the name of the gentleman who basically ran the show for us that evening but I'd like to give some kudos to him. I believe he was the wait staff captain. He kept the ball rolling that night and any problems we had were fixed immediately. We had an issue during our toasts that a special set of toasting flutes for our maid of honor and best man went missing. He found them in no time and swapped them out with the original flutes they were given. He made sure that all the significant parts of our wedding such as the cake cutting, and the bouquet and garter toss were done at the right times. A few times he had to take us from our guests but he was extremely polite and professional. The food was phenomenal. Classic Italian cooking but it was all delicious! Their appetizers are to die for especially their Coconut Shrimp and Filet Mignon Skewers! They did make substitutions and changes for anyone with allergies. Our wedding cake was included in the price of our event and was baked on premises. We had a beautiful three tiered wedding cake which was red velvet with cream cheese filling. The cake was absolutely amazing. It was decorated with icing roses in the color of our wedding. I was very impressed with that, it was a nice little surprise. I've been here a number of times for various showers, communions, etc. The food is okay. Typical Italian catering hall food. I was here in November for a shower and instead of lunch it was brunch food and this was 100 times better than the regular lunch I've always had. The breakfast foods were pretty good. Had some pastas. The Alfredo tortellini were good but the second batch the sauce was soooo watery. Bloody Mary's were okay but no celery stalk, what's up with that. I will start from the very beginning. My first call I had spoken to Eric,I had explained I was looking to have a bridal shower for my daughter and gave him the date. He was very pleasant and patient on the telephone. He looked up my date, gave me all the information I needed, and was not at all pushy about me having my party there, I thanked him and said I would get back to them if I choose to have my party there. I went on a day that I did not have an appointment, because I happen to be passing the venue, from the minute I walked in I felt like my party was the most important party they would have. I felt like I couldn't have picked a better day to go there. From that day, I had received three or four phone calls asking me for different things they needed or to explain something to me about my party. Always following up and letting me know they were there to make my party perfect. On the day of my party, I arrived and was greeted by Christina the second I walked in. Christina was the Maître d' in charge of the party. Christina was so accommodating, she went above and beyond from the minute I walked in until the party was over. We had approximately nine servers and herself for a party of 66, very well staffed. Now I would like to speak about the servers, most of them were young, but you would never no it from the way they carried themselves. They were on top of everything, extremely pleasant and respectful. One thing I look for first and foremost is service, this was A+++. The food was wonderful and very plentiful, the minute a tray was empty they replenished it. My daughter was so happy and loved everything about the place and her shower! I would not hesitate for one second to have another party at this venue. Not only were we pleased, but I also received several text messages and phone calls from our guests to let us know how wonderful the food and service was at the party. Our company always has our Christmas party here every year. It's always in a nice sized room with chic decor and a live DJ. There is a food buffet and cash bar (unless your party had was paid for). Recently, we've had the party in one of the biggest room we've had yet. It was decorated nicely and had an upbeat vibe. There were about 8 other companies occupying tables and enough room for us all to move around freely. The food from the buffet was really good and the DJ wasn't bad either. However, when we got drinks the lady kept giving us our total, so we paid. Later to find out that our party's drinks were already paid for. If I had went on a drinking spree I'd be upset enough to go back and inquire about my money. However I only had about 3 drinks. Regardless, I was still annoyed to find this out. Sure, I should have been aware of our party's paid expenses but I feel like they should do a better job of keeping track of what guests/tables are paid for. I have to give it four stars only because of how incredibly rude one of the caterers was. IT IS A FIVE STAR VENUE! The event planner with whom we started the event was Eric, but he was unavailable come time for our appointment, which happened to be relatively close to the actual date of our event (6-30-12, yesterday). Throughout the entire process, he was incredibly helpful. He was a delight to work with, and he made the entire process worthwhile/as smooth as possible. Let me preface this by saying that it was an absolutely beautiful evening. We definitely got what we paid for, and we were impressed by how efficient the wait-staff was. The food was delicious. I had the steak and mashed potatoes, and I am a steak fanatic - I ABSOLUTELY loved this steak. The decorations were incredible - the dance-lights really added to the mood. People loved it and were dying to stay longer. We had two cakes and were a little bit upset because the wait-staff did not give people the opportunity to have from the second cake (the cake they made for us). That did not deter us from having a good time - they were still a 5-star wait-staff. Kudos to them for doing such an incredible job! The reason I had to dock it a star is because of the incredibly rude service we received last week from one of the caterers (a female). Instead of being calm, she practically bit our heads off as we discussed our party. We were there to pay the gratuity on our event, which was fine, but her apparent disgust with us left us stressed for the entire week leading up to the event. She was rude, spoke in an uninviting tone, and just seemed to not understand customer service at all. Had it not been for her, I would have said Roma View deserves even more than 5 stars. We had to do very little inside the hall to prep for the event. Many venues don't have the level of detail that Roma View does in their already pre-decorated rooms. All we had to do was provide centerpieces; the rest was all taken care of for us! All of our guests raved about the quality of the venue. We had the Rhapsodie room and it was absolutely incredible! We could not be happier with our turnout, the wait-staff, Eric, the maître-d Carlos, the concierge and everybody involved! Also, we had lied on our invitations and put the start-time was an hour earlier than what the actual start-time was, because we knew our guests would all be late (we'd say about 99% were - even the DJ and photographer were late), but the concierge went on to discuss this with an unhappy guest. This was unprofessional, as the conversation happened right in front of the event hosts (us), so I had to approach the guest myself after hearing the complaint. I don't think that stopped him from having a good time. He was a bit upset at first, but I think he must have had a decent time because I saw him socializing with the people at his table. Last night I hosted an engagement party for my daughter Sara and her fiancé Todd. It was incredible!!! The service was magnificent! Our maitreD Angela ran the party so smoothly. She was so attentive to me and all my guests and her wait staff was the best. We never had to ask for anything. When our glasses were almost empty we had another drink in front of us. The room was beautiful and spacious. The food was so delicious especially the chicken francese and bake clams. The tortellini Alfredo was the best I ever had. Lia, our banquet manager was so good she recommended the DJ and photo booth vendor and I am so glad I took her advice. They were the best! I had so many people compliment and rave about this party I can't stress that enough. I felt so good about choosing this place . I will definitely have another party there .
