My wife and I have become big fans of Roma over the past few years. Quite honestly, it was a bit of an afterthought for us on our ~ monthly trips to Federal Hill for "supplies", but some consistent disappointments with one of the "other" shops in the area found us frequently Roma more and more and "that other" shop less and less. For us, it has everything we look for on our supply runs and the staff is always helpful and courteous. It also doesn't hurt that you can actually enjoy an espresso at the espresso bar without getting jostled by other customers, struggling to make their way through the "other" (overcrowded and poorly laid out) store, and that you can practice some Italian with the staff. Okay, I'm sure I sound like a slightly behind the learning curve 8 year old when I speak the language, but the staff is patient and courteous enough not to break out into laughter when I try. Don't forget to try a slice from the wood burning pizza oven; always a good call! read more

My favorite lunch spot on federal hill. Try out the rice cakes, hell try everything they've got! In my many years of coming up to the hill and trying out what they have for lunch, it's always been delicious and the the guys waiting on you are great, humorous as all, and know how to talk to you. Stopping here for a cappucino and mini cannoli was a good way to cap off the New England trip. The lady behind the coffee/dessert counter was born for that role, and you could tell that a number of the other shoppers were regulars. The cappuccino and cannoli were both very good. If I lived in the area, I could see myself becoming a regular, as well. read more

Our new favorite casual spot on Federal Hill!! Went there for RI Food Fights Passport Italian grinders (which were delicious), but everything else called our name! We tried the pizza. Absolutely AMAZING! Soft, but not doughy with just enough cheese and the sauce was not too sweet. I cannot wait to go back and try their other options...sandwiches, pasta and desserts. There's even a frozen food case to take home your favorites for later. And the counter service was top notch. I would definitely recommend trying this place and we will be back soon. read more

I'm in love with this place. I went for V-day, it took me a couple tries to figure out how to enter the restaurant (through the store), but once inside, I was pleasantly surprised. Let's see, it's fabulous food, ambience, and the singing was a bonus. One star off for parking. Total PITA....we ended parking in the $10 LOT a block away. Worth it. The caprice appetizer was superb, spaghetti with crumbled sausage, broccoli and chicken parmigiano. Excellent wait staff. read more

I gave Roma a three because the food was very good but the service was one of the worst I have ever experienced. We wanted to order appetizers but after waiting almost a half hour just for drinks we decided to just order dinner and ask for some bread. The waiter piece mailed our dinner having one person waiting at least an additional 5-10 minutes for their plate while we all politely salivated over our food from starvation. I asked the waiter twice for an extra bowl of plain pasta with no sauce since I had Marsala and wanted it for the sauce cause I'm Italian and fat. Well needless to say it came with marinara sauce on it. Again the food is very good but the service will keep me from ever going back. read more

A lot of the places on Federal Hill are overrated, over-hyped and overpriced. Pleasantly surprised. Was not expecting much. Went there for dinner and the food was very good. Ordered a pizza with mushrooms, artichokes, olives and roasted red peppers. It was excellent (and I am not a vegetarian pizza fan-it has to be meat). The prime rib eye steak was very good. Even the mashed potatoes were good (and not just thrown together and served). We bought some desert from the prepared foods section. Cannoli was average. Lobster tail was excellent. Wine biscuits actually had the proper flavour and consistency. Ricotta biscuits were excellent. Prices were reasonable for the Hill. Would go back. read more

I simply loved my food experience at the Trattoria Roma! This is the first time that we dined at the Trattoria and it was great! The arugula and radicchio salad was delicious! My husband had the polpette which are oversized meatballs topped with the savory "Roma" homemade tomatoe sauce. I chose the risotto and scallops as an entree. The risotto was cooked to perfection and the scallops were tender and tasty and my husband had the vitello saltimbocco....yum! The service was friendly and our waitress was helpful. The food was served in a timely manner! Brittany, my waitress for the evening suggested the risotto and scallops as an entree! We will be back very soon! This was our first stop on Federal Hill. The store has a lot to offer and different stations. You can get meats, prepared foods, cold cuts, bread, etc. They make sandwiches and pizza there also. There is a bakery counter, where we ordered an espresso and cappucino. The cannoli had chocolate chips and was pretty good. The cappucino on the otherhand wasn't so good. The coffee had a burnt taste to it, even with all the sugar added. Not a bad spot on our first time in Federal Hill. read more

I stopped here before a gig in Cranston last weekend, just looking for a quick sandwich, and I couldn't have asked for more. One giant Reuben sandwich later, I just didn't have any space left to ask for some of the Gelato at the front of the shop. If you're in the area, stop here! Stopped by for a quick dice of pizza. Thin big slices but for a wood brick oven the pizza could have been a touch more of a crunch to the bite. Asked to have our slices really hot, got a little smirk from the waitress who told us "they're hot" but did stick them in the oven for us real Italian looking place that get packed at night. The pizza is fantastic. I'm a big fan of pickup coming from Cranston. At first, I was worried about dealing with where to park for picking up, but they have a parking lot right next door that can be utilized for customers. The pizza is out of this world. We had a very nice dinner, started with the little neck clams - very good . Then to the main course, my husband had the pasta with meat sauce and a meat ball on the side, both were very good. I had the chicken Marsala it was good but the chicken was a little tough. The waiter was very nice but had too many tables to take care of so the service was a little slow Overall this is a nice place and we will be back, prices are very reasonable for federal hill read more

I have zero complaints about this place! I was shocked by the selection of local brands that they carry; this includes Narragansett Creamery cheese (Roma carries their cheddar, which I have never seen anywhere else!), Baffoni Farms eggs, and Danielle meats! They also carry a mind-boggling array of pastas and sauces. Their prepared foods are excellent as well! I especially love their pizza; it is exactly what I have been looking for in regards to pizza since moving to Providence! I love large, flat, NY-style slices, and Roma's are the best I've ever had! They have other baked goods, like huge, crusty loaves of bread and a lovely pastry case filled with goodies like eclairs and cannoli! I have never tried any of their pastries, but I'll update this review the moment I do! I can't imagine that they aren't as delicious as everything else in the store! The same goes for their gelato! To make things even better, they have their own parking lot (just keep in mind that it is on a one-way street heading towards Atwells Ave so you may have to circle the block)! The store always looks very clean, and the employees are always very nice! They never hesitate to greet you or make a recommendation when you need it! read more

I went here for a company Christmas party. The food was okay. Staff was okay. Valet was nowhere to be found at the end of the night. After standing outside for 10 minutes finally one came around the corner... long story short my new truck was broken into along with 4 other vehicles and after several days they finally admit fault and ask for receipts for all the damages. After over a month and receiving nothing they are now denying any responsibility in the crime. Their valet parks cars in an unlit, unguarded parking lot with several workers on duty, yet no one could provide any information on any of the 5 cars that had their windows smashed in. It seems too coincidental that with all of the people dress up with valet on their back who came out of the back of the restaurant after the incident that not a single one heard any glass breaking on the 5 vehicles and the staff doesn't think to alarm any of the cars. read more

Awesome Italian pastries! We went to 5 different markets/bakeries on the hill and this was the only one that had pastries like what you'll find in the North End. The canoli was excellent and fresh, the lobster tail was the prefect size with a delicious filling. read more

A gem in Lincoln, RI! Trattoria has nightly specials that are usually unique and delicious. I had the Fruitti Di Mare Posilipo... fresh calamari, shrimp, sea scallops, littleneck clams, & PEI mussels. Absolutely loved it! Although I've dined on the "Hill " my entire life, I never had been to Roma. (The restaurant is relatively new, as well, so doesn't quite have the developed reputation like other places on Federal Hill. My friend and I decided to try it out on a Tuesday summer night and I couldn't have been happier. With all of the amazing Italian food on the hill, Roma is able to hold it's own and them some. My friend had just returned from a semester abroad in Italy and she said the food did not disappoint. We both got different buccatini dishes and some nice red wines and it was delicious. One of the best buccatini dishes I have had and the pasta was very fresh. The Caesar salad was solid (a classic romaine wedge style). One thing that really impressed me was the quality and friendliness of our server. We were originally were sitting outside but it ended up being just way to hot outside once our hot food came and she gladly moved all of our dishes/drinks inside and relocated us. I highly recommend checking out the new kid on the block, Trattoria Roma. read more

I got the arugula salad today and it was one of the best salads I've ever had!! I have never thought to put caramelized onions in a salad before and it's a GAME CHANGER. This salad made me want to order more salad and that how you know it's good. Would recommend 10/10 read more
