Rolling Pin Donuts has always been my go-to for a solid sugar rush. I welcome the soft, fluffy texture of their donuts and twists over Krispy Kreme any day! This place has a nice assortment, with something for everyone. The crunchy old-fashioned donuts are super good, and they have apple fritters that are also really flavorful. The donuts are never too dry or oily, so really appreciate their consistently good quality. They also practice safety protocols during the pandemic which is very much appreciated! I will definitely be back here the next time I need an absurd amount of sugar running through my veins and recommend you come by for the same! read more

This has more of a local authentic donut taste compared to a chain like Krispy Kreme. There's nothing special about the interior or the selection. Everything is pretty standard. The donuts are thick and fluffy. They have cookies as well. They are on the pricier side, coming out to about $2/donut and $22/dozen. read more

Was in the area and had it on a visit list and got a old fashioned and an apple fritter. The old fashioned is forgettable but liked the apple fritter. Definitely would like more apples but not sure if it would get too soggy. The staff were friendly. read more

OVERALL: I had high hopes for this place. I heard so many good things but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. FOOD: A friend got us a box of donuts from here - sugar, cinnamon, plain old fashioned, chocolate glazed, and blueberry (this was an interesting flavor - I haven't seen a blueberry donut elsewhere before). I tried a few different kinds, hoping I would find the yum-factor everyone had told me about but it just wasn't there in any of them. All of the donuts were oily. The glaze on the chocolate glazed donut was very thin, which is so disappointing because the best part of a chocolate glazed donut is the glaze. It also seemed like they were all coated in a simple syrup or something - they were all sort of moist on the outside and not in a good way. I didn't end up finishing any of them that I tried. read more

This is our go to spot for late night donut cravings on weekends. I've never had a donut disappoint from here. Everything from the glazed to old fashioned to donut holes to buttermilk bars are amazing. Be sure to try the creme puffs! Pros: Good variety of amazing donuts and parking is easy. Cons: None. Yum, the bestie took us here to eat. Got the recommended GIANT apple fritters, old fashions, and a sugar coated donut. Donuts tasted fresh and fluffy, super tasty. We got a dozen plus some extras. Definitely stopping by again when I'm in the area. read more

Maple old fashioned and chocolate old fashioned donuts ALL DAY! EVERY DAY! Just kidding, that would be a diabetic catastrophe. But in all seriousness, rolling pin has been such a staple and we have been customers for YEARS. I hadn't had a donut fix in a while since SIP due to covid came into play, so I was delighted to find out this place re-opened. Picked up a dozen (which is a baker's dozen that they give you) and they have been consistently delicious! In addition to their old fashioned donuts, their cake donuts are my next fave, especially the ones with coconut flakes and sprinkles on them! My husband is a big fan of the blueberry cake donut (pop it in the microwave for 8 seconds and BOOM! Mmmagic in your mouth!). I can go on about the goodness of each donut but no need to waste your time. Try it to believe it! read more

I spent $5 on 3 donuts and 3/3 were stale. I came on a Friday night, so it wasn't a super odd time considering they're open 24/7. The donuts here are always dry but this one was stale to the point that even microwaving them couldn't revive them. They also like to use parchment paper to grab the donuts so all the glaze ends up on the paper. This is probably one of the worst donut shops I've visited. I'd get a better tasting donut at Safeway. 5 stars for nostalgia! Used to come here as a kid when my dad worked at the airport. I'm a purist and love the original glazed donuts-preferably warm and in their old fashioned box, eaten in the car on the way home. They didn't have the original glazed when I visited last week-whomp whomp. I got a glazed twist and my partner got a chocolate old fashioned. We split some donut holes and a cruller. Admittedly not as amazing as I thought they were when I was a kid but still brings back great memories. Open 24/7 and they take Apple Pay. read more

Had donuts here last night and they were not good at all. Last time we were here was about 2 years ago. Same thing. Wasn't impressed by their stale tasting donuts. The glazed are almost old fashions. Defeats the purpose of having a selection. Donut holes tasted 3 days old. Seems like they will hold on to product as long as they can before they have to get rd of it. After discovering this gem, my family and I now prefer these donuts over any other place. Their donuts are not super oily or sweet, and they are a perfect dough ratio-- melts in your mouth while also leaving something for you to chew on. Just indescribable, but try for yourself. Picked up a Father's Day dozen on Father's Day at 6AM and there was already a line! The ladies behind the counter are very efficient and patient as well. GOOD DONUTS AND GOOD SERVICE. From now until the end of time, Rolling Pinwill be on my list of things to do on my way into or out of San Francisco. Or both. (The fact that they're open so early makes it a great brekfast stop for an early flight out.) Absolutely loved their apple fritter - not only is it delicious, there's a lot of it. If there is another more perfect pastry than the donut, I don't know what that would be. My dad used to take me and younger sister to the Rolling Pin in Colma. He loved donuts and ate them regularly with his morning coffee. One of the funnest parts was deciding which donut to get. He never rushed us and gave us all the time we needed to choose those wonderful, ring-shaped treats. Of all of the donut places, Rolling Pin is still my favorite. Granted, I now watch my carb-intake so that I don't blow up like a mini Sumo wrestler. However, the folks at my office agreed to make it a Donut Friday. RP makes the donuts like I remember. Thick, soft, doughy and most of all flavorful. IMO, they beat Krispy Kreme by a country mile. There is an old-fashioned quality to them that is how donuts should taste like. These are the donuts that our parents ate. My two favorites--as was my dad's--rasberry-filled and chocolate-covered Old-Fashioned. The glaze on rasberry-filled left me licking my fingers like a 12-year-old. The combination of tastes--dough and rasberry filling--can only be described as superb. Completed with a cup of black coffee and I almost forgot I was still at work. I followed that up with a chocolate-covered old-fashioned and obliterated by carb-intake for the day--maybe more. It was worth it. How can anything so wrong be SO RIGHT? RP is my Kryptonite and I am powerless around it. A few years ago I learned about the San Bruno store and the fact they are open 24 hours (what?!). The ladies there are so nice and very patient as some customers take what seems like an eternity to decide. It's probably the donut-fiend in me who is wondering why it takes so long for some people. Alas, it is still worth it. So every so often, someone in our office picks up a Baker's Dozen on a Friday. It is a very good way to start the weekend. read more

Started a very early shift at 2:30am and looked up a place that I can grab a drink and a donut and this place was open. I didn't realize it was open 24 hours a day, and I don't think places do that anymore. Donuts were fresh and tasty. They were a little bit cold but I'm not complaining. Never oily, have a great cakey weight, full flavored, the filling taste great, the topping taste right. My go to place and I drive 4 cities over to get my donut fix! Wow oh wow this place was so quiet and special and you can tell that it had patrons that go there everyday. A little bit of a chaotic way to order considering they have two doors and folks cut in line a bit but none the less the glazed donuts are superb in comparison to Krispy Kreme. You can ask them to heat up the cinnamon rolls too and they are delightful ! read more

How is it that I haven't written a review for Rolling Pin after coming here for all these years?! We've been visiting Rolling Pin for well over a decade, and they still remain our favorite donut shop. We used to try to spot police cars parked outside of the shop because they seemed to be in the know for when fresh batches of donuts came out. Rolling Pin Donuts is THE place to go for fresh, delicious custard-filled donut holes, which come in plain, glazed, chocolate-glazed, and maple-glazed. But if that's not your jam, then good--more for me... There is a large assortment of donuts here from your basic cake donuts, old-fashioned donuts, and yeast-raised donuts in a variety of flavors...to the more deluxe donuts like crullers, buttermilk bars, apple fritters, jelly- and custard-filled donuts. A good friend of mine is a huge fan of their custard-filled maple bars. Their yeast-raised donuts are light, fluffy, and soft--some of the best I've had. More recently, they have added ube, green tea matcha, and strawberry to their cake donut varieties. They do crullers very well, and it's no easy feat to make a light, airy choux dough. They also have coffee and a colorful assortment of cookies--something for everyone! Staff are super nice and efficient. They have Apple pay and other contactless payment methods. We will continue to be patrons for many more years to come! read more

Nice small doughnut shop with a mural outside to show you where they are. Inside a lot of interesting historical photos as well as awards and "best of" articles framed on the wall. There was a raised doughnut that had filling, and I asked if it was chocolate. The girl said it was blueberry. I got it anyway. The doughnut was nice and fresh, and the filling was standard, I guess, but made the doughnut anyway. I got a small trace of blueberry when I was eating it, so it must have been made from real blueberries. Tasty doughnut and charming place. There is also a coffee station. read more

Favorite donut place thats open 24hrs! No matter what time we fly in we always make a stop here. Our top favorites are the buttermilk bars, glazed or plain, all the french cruellers, the regular glazed donuts, maple and chocolate glazed. They are actually all delicious! One of our visits the donuts were fresh out of the oven. The glazed donut just melted in your mouth! The french cruellers were so soft. The cake donuts are perfectly cakey. But the one time I wanted the powdered donut, they didn't have it... I tried the Mexican cookie that was not too sweet even though there's powdered sugar all over it, the cookie itself was like a soft shortbread mixed with nuts. I'll get those again... The parking lot is small maybe 10 cars at a time, and it can get very busy and backed up. But its worth it. It never fails that when we go there and nobody is in the store, a line soon develops, Ladies behind the counter are patient and friendly. read more

TL;DR: If you love donuts, you love this place. Oh my gosh. Five stars, well deserved. I walk in with high expectations, come out with a near perfect result. Parked in their parking lot next to their building, walked in, greeted, picked me some great looking donuts with assistance for recommendations from the friendly staff, paid with Apple Pay, grabbed my box and walked out. I went on their site the day of, placed an order for pick-up with a 30 minute lead time (which was the soonest available slot), drove there and picked up my dozen. The order and pick-up process could not have been easier. The pick-up location is tucked away on a small street where the parking lot is like an office plaza, with several buildings in it. It looked like a back entrance but you'll see the ramp that leads to the pick-up window. There was no line so I went up, paid, and picked up my donuts all within a couple of minutes. The donuts were a hit with the family! Slightly less sweet compared to Mochinut. A little doughier but the chewy texture is still there. I got the dozen so we could try all the flavors which included: chocolate, matcha, ube coconut, cookie butter with oreo, peaches n' cream, and apple spice caramel. My favorites are peaches n' cream and apple spice caramel with matcha close behind. You can't go wrong with any of them, probably boils down to your taste preferences. I'm definitely returning if they have new flavors or whenever I'm in a mochi donut mood.

In the often muttered words of Homer Simpson, all I can say is mMmmMmm DONUTS! When I came across Rolling Pin, I could already tell by its tiny, unique building design that Rolling Pin is quite special. Lo and behold, signage out front already boasts that this lil shop has been cranking out donuts here since 1958. On a whim after a late night dinner around 10ish pm, venturing out for donuts here is no problem at all. They're open 24/7 and I was really surprised to see the vast selection of donuts made available even at this time. We're talkin' bout sugar, crumb, plain, cake donuts, buttermilk glaze, chocolate, powder, coconut covered, various designed cookies, donut holes, and even 5 different coffee dispensers in your choice of flavor or caffeination level. Don't get me wrong, these donuts are on par with any other typical donut shop around, but the sheer volume and the fact that they don't let these babies go stale because they're always popping out fresh baked donuts is good enough to keep anyone coming back. Wide variety of donuts no matter what time of day, kickback casual atmosphere, no fuss service, easy street parking, takes debit/credit cards now. Great find! read more

I finally made it to that amazing donut place, I've heard so much about! My uncles used to have these incredible homemade donuts when I was growing up - seriously the best! So I figured I had to try these out. Let me tell you, the hype is REAL. We grabbed a whole dozen - a mix of everything: chocolate old fashioned, chocolate twists, raspberry filled, crumb-topped, and powdered sugar. They were all unbelievably fresh and delicious. I mean, seriously, the taste is something else! I highly recommend checking it out if you're ever in the area. You absolutely won't regret it! The service was impressively efficient and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. I've been here only a couple of times in the past few years. Why did I give them 4-stars and not 5? Their donuts are very fresh and fluffy. I personally and very classic and always go for the chocolate glaze. I took a star away because of their pricing structure. How do you give donuts for $10.75 a dozen? Just charge $11 or $10. I noticed the same with their coffee. It was very awkward and just made you have all this change leftover that was unnecessary. read more

Hands down the best dounuts on the Peninsula - I brought these to work one Friday after the crew had gotten used to the cheap-o kind and it was a big mistake - now they only want Rolling Pin! A few bucks more than Safeway Dounuts, but worth it. These dounuts are more cake based which I like. The opposite type are the gross Krispy Kreme one's that taste like greasy cotton candy. I've been to Rolling Pin Donuts a couple times now. The donuts are good and the service is good too. There is also a lot of parking which is nice in that part of San Bruno. I'm very glad they are down the street from me and open 24 hours. It's not the best atmosphere to sit and eat a donut but for takeout it is very good. read more

The management ignores the neighborhood by not having someone regularly cleaning and picking up the litter left in front and in the parking lot. The place is a magnet for the homeless who panhandle you from your car to the door and back. And there is no restroom. Plain filthy. The cops don't even go here anymore. read more

I've been going here for years their prices are great and the women working there are very sweet! This place has been around for ever and the reason is probably the freshness of the product- 1 dozen for $10.95 put 1 free donut thrown in or 1 upgraded dozen donuts for $13.95 with one upgrade donut thrown in.
