I've been a loyal customer of Roland's Tire Service and have spent thousands of dollars here over the past year, but my most recent experience was beyond disappointing. Less than a year ago (about 10,000 miles), I bought four brand-new tires and had an alignment done here. Recently, I brought my 3-year-old car to the dealership for a recall and mentioned excessive road noise. After inspection, the dealer told me all four of my tires were cupped. They checked the wheel bearings, suspension, and steering -- everything was tight. Sure enough, when I got home, I checked myself, and they were right: all four tires are badly cupped. Wanting to give Roland's the chance to make things right, I brought the car back and explained what happened. I made zero demands, accusations, or complaints -- just explained the situation and was hoping for a simple alignment check and fix. Instead, I was met with immediate hostility from the manager. His response was basically to blame my driving and claim the alignment could have been ruined within a month of getting the tires installed by hitting potholes. I've been in the trade for 25 plus years and know how alignments and tire wear work. My old tires wore evenly; these new ones, installed with an alignment, are now all cupped after 10k miles. That points to an issue with the setup. The manager's "solution" was either pay $50 for a quick toe adjustment (while it was already on the rack) or buy four new tires. No empathy, no ownership, no apology -- just finger-pointing. This $50 adjustment would have taken less than 5 minutes mind you. He had his tech literally get the car on the rack to show me a report of an alignment that wasn't really out of spec. It was worse before I had the tires installed 10k miles ago. I have done literally hundreds of alignments working for Goodyear and the final outcome is only as good as the initial setup. They are easy to manipulate. Toe & go is not a 4-wheel alignment. The proof is in the tire wear. The printout today was virtually the same as it left 10k miles ago and the tires are cupped. Riddle me this? Even basic professionalism was missing. I was accused of also driving the car with low tire pressure which would cup the tires. 30PSI..... I asked what the spec was, and he told me it's on the door jamb. Which is correct but how can you tell me its low if you didn't look at the spec yourself? By the way the spec is 33 and when I got home, I checked the pressure, and it was 32. Honestly at 28 PSI the tires aren't going to cup that bad on only the inside edge. It's an alignment issue. What bothers me the most is the complete lack of customer service. I wasn't looking for free tires -- just accountability, respect, and maybe a simple alignment correction. Instead, I was treated rudely and dismissed. The manager basically gave me the cigar and said take it or leave it. $50.... Was this worth it? Making the adjustment and being empathetic would of easily avoided this review. It's sad because I supported this shop, even tipping the techs on jobs because I know the work they put in. But after this, I can't justify coming back. A little humility and care for customers would go a long way. Please take the time to read other reviews. You will see the trend of an egotistical maniac that admires praise but will tolerate zero criticism. Not crying over spilled milk but do better. I damaged my rim and tire clipping a curb! I called rolands to get a tire. I also ordered a replacement rim from ebay motors. This was on a Thursday. By Monday morning I had rim they had tire. I went over about 12:30 pm. They were very busy but they had no issues take me in. They installed the new rim, and tire. Tire was a difficult job, very strong bead! Everything was done extremely well! I looked at the bill and thought they had way undercharged me for all the labor and asked that I thought it was to low! Nope was the answer. I highly recommend this tire shop! I have been using them for 5 years now, never an issue, great staff, great service. We have 4 cars and do our summer to winter changeover as well. One: I didn't misinterpret his rude demeanor towards me - it was quite clear. But thank you for the condescension. And second, the gentleman that came outside to look at the tire, 100% unequivocally said well maybe you need to replace all 4 before his foot crossed the threshold of the door. This is why I was taken aback-my tires were relatively new and I was just looking to see why I had a slow leak. It was a snowy Saturday & It was close to noon (apparently they close at 12 on Saturday), so that probably added to his moodiness. I've since spoken to others who are familiar with Roland's and most would concur that the service has gone down from previous years. I will definitely not be coming in to have a conversation or to have you look at the tires as I would not trust you at this point. I found a much better place to purchase, and service my car. Wow, I wished I had read the reviews before going there. I had purchased four tires with alignment from them. After 2.5 hours, the person says they couldn't do the alignment because it needed tie rods, and handed me a quote for another $800. He said there's a laser bean that it needs to align with and it didn't. (Whatever) I said I knew what tie rods are, and should I be driving it very far, and he said "I wouldn't." (Would he have mentioned that if I didn't ask?) Well that killed my plans for two days (Saturday & Sunday). I drove home nervously, and called my dealership, and had the car towed the next day to them for urgent repairs. I told them what Roland's told me. (I wasn't going to give Roland's the tie rod business since the car was under an extended warranty). My dealership called and said there was nothing wrong with the tie rods and they were able to perform the alignment. I asked how that was possible.......my dealership, being very professional, said their equipment may have needed adjustments. (Not the fact that I was an "older" woman by myself). Well, if that's predominately all Roland's does (tires & alignment) wouldn't/shouldn't their equipment be up to snuff??!! And not to mention the people/staff were barely social. Totally feel slighted. ...............And you're right......it would have been nice to have been shown how you couldn't do the alignment.......I was there in the waiting room, but the vehicle was already off the lift, and in the parking lot, and as I received the bill was told about it. I blew out my tire today on the way to work and needed to have my car towed. I had my car sent to Roland's Tire Service and called them to let them know it was coming. He told me the only way he would replace it is if I bought all 4 tires due to tread needing to match. I explained that my tires were all fairly new and that one was brand new as I had it replaced a couple of months prior. He still insisted he would only replace 4 for $1000. I said I would just have my car serviced at my regular shop because they replaced a single tire before. The manager then became angry and demanded I get my car "off of his lawn" which made zero sense as they are a business on route 6. He asked if I would just have the tow truck driver, who was unloading my car, take it to the new shop. I said that was fine and we hung up. 5 minutes later he called me back and said the tow truck had another call and took my car keys with him and then demanded I get there and get my car out of his parking lot as soon as possible. I asked him if he had a tool to help remove my lug nut caps and then I could at least put my spare tire on and get it out of their quicker. (That's why it had to be towed originally as I didn't have the right tool.) He told me he "wouldn't lend out his tools" and once again demanded to know when I would get there to get my car. I would have paid him to remove the caps, but he didn't even give me the opportunity to say that. I didn't expect to take his tools and do it myself. I told him I would call another tow truck and that my husband was on his way. When my husband got there the car keys were on my front seat in my unlocked car. When my husband went inside to tell them he had the keys and that the tow truck driver didn't take them the manager hid in the back and didn't come out. I'm of rational mind and can understand that he felt 4 tires should be put on my car. You can refuse my business and that's your prerogative. However, you can choose to be kind and empathetic and keep the business of myself and multiple friends and family members, or you can be rude and mean and now lose all future business we would have provided you. The man who works here actually kicked an older woman out of his parking lot, where she was sitting to finish a phone call. I witnessed him knocking aggressively on her car window, yelling at her, and saying "I need you to get out of my parking lot". She was just there a short time and minding her own business. There were eight open spaces and only two or three occupied. It was the middle of a quiet afternoon. I would never patronize a place where they treat older women like this. Nasty man. read more

If i could leave no stars... I would, my previous experience is getting up charged for a service I didn't ask for and now that I live locally i said hmm might as well get my tires mounted here... I was making my appointment on the phone and as soon as I mentioned I pre-purchased tires the man i spoke to puts the phone down to speak with someone else and he comes back with a $225-$250 to mount the tires and re sync the sensors... henrys in Fall river will do it better and for far less and when i asked the gentlemen from henrys if "resyncing the tpms" was necessary to which I was told no... dishonest business over here at Rolands in Somerset. read more

Man. From reading these reviews I can definitely say after Charlie burgault sold his piece of the business it's gone down hill. I remember back in the day with the truck service in the back the best tire guy there was (Dave Wirth)with his big boys Jonathan and Kevin up front banging out cars left and right with bald Georgie and red haired kid John with a lil joe charves running around working on mechanic work one of the best around and ski doing alignments very skilled back then and straight up 100% the only bad egg was David Caron and Scott burgault would deliver and make his customers happy and keep them all coming back but his cousin ran him out the business.. jealousy I guess smh can't forget Timmy Wynn up front salesmen he made that place run like a well oiled machine... well I pray they can turn there ways around but I highly doubt it... I seen another review about yelling at an older lady for being parked in a spot same thing happened to my sister cuz she parked there while husband ran into KFC and it was closing time and he was yelling and swearing like a mad man with kids in the car !! Use Rolands Tire at your own risk. They attempted to up-sale me lower ball joints , a 400$ job, despite my vehicle just having them replaced months prior. They claimed they could not complete my 4 wheel alignment without first replacing my loose ball joints, and charged me 35$ when I declined. I had the joints inspected at another shop to be safe and they confirmed that they're completely fine; this other shop also confirmed the scams Rolands is known for. Lesson learned. read more

Don't trust them. Brought my car in for a tire change (nail in sidewall but losing only 4 psi per week). Car has 30,000 miles on it. Rolands insisted I needed to replace all 4 tires per manufactures warranty as it is all wheel drive. I said no. Put the tire back on, makes no sense. They insisted I put the donut. I said no, just replace the one tire. Rolands said too dangerous. The treads are too worn, you need 4. I insisted they just put the nailed tire on. Worker rolled his eyes and said ok, it's on you. Got in my car and realized they put air in it that is way beyond the manufacturers recommendation. I promptly let air out at the gas station next door. Brought it to the dealer who said treads were absolutely fine and they replaced the one tire. This place is shady and dangerous! read more

FYI Please use a credit card to pay for anything at Rolands Tire Service, it will make it easier to get refunded for any faulty or incomplete repairs or service to your vehicle. They weren't honest, trustworthy, or reliable in my experience with them. read more

As someone who does a lot of driving for work and knows nothing about cars and tires, I was in shambles when I pulled into my hotel and got a flat tire. While waiting for triple AAA I called around trying to figure out where I could get a new tire asap so I wasn't driving 2 hours home the next day on my spare. After having an unpleasant conversation with Sullivan Tire I called Roland which ended up being across the street from my hotel. They asked the typical tire questions and again, as someone who knows nothing about tires I asked if I could just run over there quickly with a picture to see if they could help. They agreed and I ran across the street just before they closed so they could determine if they had a tire that would fit. And luckily, they did and told me to come back first thing in the morning to get it changed. What started as a stressful situation took a turn thanks to the employees at Roland! read more

I recently received the gift of a "Frankenbolt" in one of my tires. I was actually on my way to Roland's to get it looked at when it went flat. After an hour of rocket science (deducing how to get the spare un-cabled and finding the tire jack), I finally got the spare on and made it there. All that after minimal bloodshed and only two or three four-letter words. Now I've been going to Roland's for years and have always had great service. I don't know much about tires but they always do their best to listen to what I need and make their best recommendation. I never walk out feeling taken advantage of and this time was no exception. I got one decent quality tire at a good price and they ended up fixing the stem on another that was leaking free of charge. The cherry on top was the very next day when I went to re-cable the spare to the undercarriage. Dreading the session after struggling to take it off the day before, I discovered that they had already quietly done it. Guys, don't change a thing; you've got my business! read more

Was having problems with a tire and was nervous I was going to have drop a ton of money replacing all of them. I don't know much about tires, but I do know they aren't cheap. Took it in to Roland's and they patched it in no time. $25. They didn't try to sell me anything else. They have a little room where you can watch TV while you wait. It has free WI-FI that I didn't use. I texted my mom screenshots of things her evil brother posted on Facebook. See, she doesn't have Facebook but he does. read more

Complete Rip off!! Stay away!! My boyfriend got charged an outrageous amount of money to mount and balance two loose tires. After feeling ripped off he called other places to check their prices to compare. Rolands tire charged him double the price per tire as other places would have charged. I went to Roland's tire's to have an alignment. They took my truck and then called me back and said I needed a new ball joint. It was going to be $350. I Refused and took my truck home and checked the ball joints they seemed fine. I went to another tire place and they did the alignment and said there was nothing wrong with my ball joints. I feel like I was being scammed. I would avoid at all costs. read more

Complete hacks. Last time I went here for a tire rotation they forgot to put one of the bolts back on my wheels. When I noticed and went back about a week later, I was told that it was impossible and someone must have stolen it off my car. They did replace the bolt but I swore I'd never go back. The convenience of their location made me give them another shot about a year later. During this trip they chipped the paint at the front of the bolt holes on every one of my wheels and snapped off one of the lug bolts. This is a tire shop! How do they not have the ability to remove and install a wheel without damaging it! I was told manager is on vacation and he'll give me a call when he gets back but they can't verify if the chips were there before or not. After being called a liar twice this will definitely be my last time going here. read more

Had tires installed, one later went flat. They told me it was my aluminum rims, they wanted more money to fix the tire. I went to a different tire shop, they told me Roland's did not prepare the rims before installing new tires. The other shop cleaned the rims and I never had another problem The guy was rude. They said if I got the parts and brought it back they would finish the job for free. Now that I brought it back they are going back on their word. Honest, straight shooters. Brought my car in with instructions to replace front struts because of rejection on MA safety inspection by an unrelated inspection station. Roland's people called my cell and said nothing wrong with struts, performed the other valid less costly work, and took car to a different station to get sticker. Nobody has had issue with struts on 5 subsequent MA safety inspections. Different occasion, suggested I could save a tire I was planning to replace that had run flat for short distance because of suddent valve stem failure (watch out for cheap Chinese stems about 4-5 years old, I've had three fail on different cars). They replaced warped disk rotor I couldn't even get off the car with no hint of extra cost. Final bills for work have always been a couple of bucks less than quote. read more

Place is a rip off! I was told by the owner that he had to charge me 300$ to mount and balance 5 tires. He said it's because it was not their tires! So they lost a customer that was a regular because of them being pig headed. So I went to Pep-boys and they charged me 150$ to do the same job. Thanks for nothing Roland's. read more
