Full disclosure: My experience with Rogerson Orthotics so far is pretty mixed, and still in process. I'll update this when I have more information.
My podiatrist sent me to Rogerson for new orthotics and a hinged ankle brace. (Normally, I'd get them through my podiatrist, but MassHealth has specific vendors you have to receive braces/orthotics through.)
The Good: John, their Certified Orthotist, seems competent, compassionate, and patient. The work they do in-house seems pretty good, though they have different ways of making their orthotics than my podiatrist, and I seem to prefer my podiatrist's style of orthotic*.
The Bad: Their oursourced manufacturing office is deeply disorganized, and when they make mistakes, the front office is bad at staying on top of it. Context: The manufacturer sent me either _someone else's brace_ or a brace to someone else's measurements -- which we found out at my fitting, requiring a third visit once my _real_ brace was made. This was especially an issue as I only had about a week or so before my schedule would make it hard to find a time to come in. Rogerson was apologetic, and immediately both got the manufacturer on the phone and recast my foot. I asked how long the new brace would take, and they said it would probably be in around the middle of next week, so we scheduled for the end of the week to give us some flex time. I called the day before to confirm, and _was told that if it wasn't ready I would have been called that morning_, but she'd check . . . and after coming back from hold, was told it _wasn't_ ready despite what she said before putting me on hold. They were now on the phone with the manufacturer _again_, and would email or call me once that call ended to schedule. I took this as same-day, and when I didn't hear back, called the next day to check. All they said was that the manufacturer _didn't give them a date it would be ready_ (!), so they didn't call. Pretty put out at this point, I reiterated that I was now in the timeframe that made it harder to make appointments at all, and it didn't sound like their manufacturer was going to GIVE them a set date, so didn't it make sense to just schedule? It was only at that point that they said the manufacturer gave them the broad date of 'middle of next week' and if I scheduled after that, it should be fine. Had they called me the day before to say that it wasn't in yet, that they were checking with the manufacturer, and then called back to say they were given a rough timeframe and we could schedule any time after that, I would have been completely satisfied with them, if not their manufacturer. But that would require a certain degree of staying on top of their outsourced work that I just don't think they have.
* - To explain: The lack of material between their heel posts and the arch gives the midfoot less firmness than I'd like, and the padding on top, while likely intended for comfort, makes it feel flatter. I seem to prefer casting my foot in a neutral position not bearing weight, with a shape that shapes more directly to my foot; this style leaves me feeling like my balance and my grip while walking is worse. read more
