OK, short answer first: Do not buy rogers internet. Their internet is terrible, overpriced and the customer service if you have an internet problem is a*s.
Long answer: I have had rogers for the past 8+ years and have been living with the constant calling to complain and fixes. But my mother runs the plan and didn't want to change. We have 25mb down, 2.5 up, and 300 gb usage for $46, I have called to fix the internet and they want us to upgrade to a $75 package not including modem for less usage same download and upload. There are always problems, my mother works from home and she experiences internet drops for a minimum of 5 minutes to over an hour throughout the day. When I am home if someone is on their laptop browsing a website instantly the internet slows down, there are also times when NOBODY is on the internet and the service is sh*t, slow and the service cuts out or throttles. Once a month the internet just goes down for the whole weekend (probably destroying or downgrading our already sh*t internet) and we call and they say that we should have internet, that they are not doing anything and it is on our side. But there are still a few days or a week per month where the internet quality is good, it's running great and there are no issues. When they send someone over they cannot find the problem and say that it is due to many people on at the busy time in the neighborhood when most people are at home streaming videos and such, but its been the same at 12 am or 1 am in the morning (results from me testing it ;) ). So I am pretty sure they are "looking" in the wrong place and the problem is really at rogers internet at our location.
On top of this, the service that I get is rarely what I pay for, it's spotty, and if you have ever used something that requires stable and good service you know how frustrating it is when you lag and ping spike. Ping spikes happen every 15 seconds to 90 seconds and go up to 150 ms (or higher) from a regular 30 ms, other times I will lag and the internet will just cut out for a brief second or two.
I called rogers just now to talk to them, I spoke to a representative about my plan and asked to be transferred to technical after just telling her I will drop my package if I cannot do anything about the service and I will be going to teksavvy because they offer the same for far less, I got transferred to nobody, I was on the line and someone picked up after 20 minutes asking what I was waiting on an empty line for, she left me hanging. I was on the line for over 40 minutes afterwards with no time estimate of when I could get an answer. I just hung up. In this case I do not believe in coincidences, she purposely screwed me after I told her I would be dropping the internet and I got nowhere today. (Feb 4 2017)
On the line with the lady (WHO IS NOT IN THE TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT keep in mind she is the *call to change your ^high speed^ internet service plan*) she says that it is our modem that is causing our problems, and to upgrade to a BRAND NEW PIECE OF sh*t. But that makes no sense as there are days where we GET GOOD INTERNET and there are no problems for a few hours. If the modem had issues the service would be the same all the time with no possibility for good days just continuously terrible service.
Overall from experience, I would say to never ever ever give your money to rogers as your internet service providers, they are a terrible service, with terrible quality, who overcharge their internet and are money hungry pigs who cannot even transfer you to one department properly. read more
