I work from home, when they got there I had chores in my kitchen I needed to do, clean cabinets, meal prep etc. I asked before my partner left if they needed inside they said no, no more than 15 minutes later they just entered no knocking, kicking my trash pile around creating more work. They commented on my space with me in it. They were mumbling under their breath about my presence in the kitchen near their work site. They complained about each other to each other. They also took numerous smoke breaks. It took them a few hours to work, I was even commenting rudely back. I asked if they could install my Nest Thermostat, the guy again complained about how much he hates these they never work, it as giving a hard time installing with the app, he was fussing at me and telling me to hurry up he was obviously in a rush. It wasn't connecting and instead of figuring it out, he uninstalled it and put back the old one. Well they must have needed to go pretty bad bc they left the water heater gas valve undone and caused a gas leak in my home. I was unsure if the smell of gas after this install was normal, so my Landlord inquired with them, they said they didn't touch anything, but the thing is I was working in the kitchen and watched him take things out in the furnace closet so I saw him which is why I asked. Long sorry short, Nicor came, it was a sizable leak that could have eliminated me and my family over night and exposed my entire grouping of town houses. The value might have been good for my landlord, the ac works fine, just the behavior and carelessness that warrant the lack of stars. That's deadly and dangerous if you're working with HVAC it's important to CHECK YOUR WORK especially with when working around gas lines.
