Do you like setting appointments and having the mobile notary cancel minutes before the appointment because he can't find parking, then somehow try to blame it on you? If so, then boy do I have a notary for you! Our mortgage lender set us up with an appointment with Mark on Saturday 5/1/2021 at 2pm. He called the day before and seemed courteous enough. I asked about who was required to be present, thinking that there might be a separate appointment because the people on the loan live across town from one another. I was told that only two of the three people on the loan needed to be present - strange, but ok. The following day, Mark called with a correction that all three of us needed to be in one place at the same time. No problem, we said. We decided to meet in San Francisco Chinatown to make it easy on the third party. We provided Mark the address and set an appointment for 3:45pm. I spoke to him around 3:25 to confirm the address. At 3:45pm, he called and said he couldn't find parking after 30 minutes of searching and didn't want to pay for a parking lot, so he wouldn't be able to sign docs with us today. Pretty strange for a guy in a service job, but I let him know we had found parking a few blocks away and reminded him that we had set this appointment up to be convenient for him because he had not given us the correct information the night before. Also, very strange that he made no mention of having a hard time finding a parking space when I spoke to him just 20 minutes prior. He then began to tell me that I was condescending(??) for telling him where to find parking, and that I definitely wasn't making things "convenient" for him by moving the appointment, with no mention of his hand in the screw up. It seemed like he probably had a scheduling conflict and instead of fessing up, he decided to take his frustrations out on us.
Given that there are a few thousand mobile notary options in the Bay Area and the reasonable assumption all of them are more professional and better equipped to deal with scheduling conflicts and parking, I'd probably rather hire a chimpanzee to notarize my documents than Mark Rodriguez, it's likely the chimpanzee is more mature and less likely to throw feces at its clients. read more
