Rod's Dogs is a food stall located within the downtown Easton Public Market in Easton, PA. The market itself was bustling with activity on a weekend afternoon. While there's plenty of full meal options in the market, Rod's Dogs offer a quicker option for primarily fried snd grilled foods, and they also sell ice cream. There's only 2 small tables with a few stools out front, so you may need to go searching elsewhere within the market for a spot to eat like I had to. Service was a bit slow, but otherwise friendly.
I figured their signature namesake option of a hot dog would be decent, so ordered a "ripper well" of their Thumann's hot dog, which is a hot dog fried to a point where they start to rip open. It sounded great as hot dogs well done with a snap in the final product are generally good. All items are served in a wrapping, and it didn't look very pleasant for a hot dog upon first look. At first bite, it didn't have the taste of a proper beef hot dog, but rather one that uses pork or other cheaper or lower quality meat fillers. Honestly, it was worse than store brands like Ball Park, Sabrett, and Nathan's, so what I'd hoped to be a good hot dog experience turned out to be pretty disappointing. They seem to have decent online reviews, so perhaps people seem to like their burgers or toppings rather than the actual hot dogs. Sadly, I won't be back cause I really didn't like the taste of their hot dog. read more
