I had Miguel do some work on my home a few years ago. While I wasn't completely satisfied with the results, I decided to give him another chance based on the assumption that his prices might be more reasonable for a smaller project that didn't require a high level of expertise. We agreed on pricing after some negotiation, but then he completely disappeared -- no follow-up, no returned calls, and no explanation. Miguel was fantastic! He responded to my Yelp request in under an hour and immediately scheduled a consultation. He gave us good advice and suggestions and was super helpful during our consultation. The quote he gave us was very fair for all the work we needed. We had him put in sprinklers in our backyard, decomposed granite, rock, pavers, and grass. His guys were courteous, they cleaned up after themselves, and all did great work. Throughout the entire process Miguel kept us updated with progress and answered all of our questions. The team at Rodriguez landscaping did a tremendous job on our backyard slopped area renovation. Originally we had issues with the dirt slipping causing the retaining wall blocks to come down and wanted to somewhat rework the area so that is was nicer and wouldn't cause any safety issues while picking the fruit trees or worrying about our children trying to play back there in unsafe conditions. Well, I didn't even get an opportunity to have him come by and give me an estimate on our yard for lawn service. I messaged him to get a quote. He messaged me back asking when a good day is to come by. I replied and have not heard from him since and it's been at least a week now. That is far more than enough time to get back with a customer. Anyway, that's as far as I have gotten with this guy. I did read many of the reviews left for him (many were not so good) and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and maybe a chance but I'm assuming if I can't even get a reply back and receive a quote, it's probably a good sign that I shouldn't hire him to take care of my lawn..... unreliable and lacking proper customer service. On a positive note, because of how he showed me the way he conducts business early on, I think I dodged a bullet with this one, thank goodness. Update to owner's comment: Yes, you don't know me and why is that? Let me tell you. The reason is it's because you never replied and never set an appointment to come by. As far as being busy and short handed, I get it. I really do but it only takes a few seconds to reply back even if it is to say this or something similar, "Hey, I'm a little short handed but wanted to get back with you. May I contact you later when I have more time?" I would've understood and guess what? That sentence I just typed took me about 12 seconds or less! You could've done that at least. Last but not least, no... I am not going to delete my review because I find it quite amusing that you can take the time to reply to my original review but not to my inquiry about your service. Richard turned on my sprinkler broke it said he was going to be back to fix it , as of yet he hasn't done it....piles of grass were left in different areas of my yard which they didn't pick up and they didn't finish the work. Rodriguez Landscaping has finished my phase 2 request quickly and with care. They added a couple little extra details that I requested and stayed within the quote we had worked out. They left my backyard garden/oasis looking so much better than just a little over a week ago, and now I can get down to some real gardening without the drudgery of weeding and maintenance. The contractor's service is sub-par and the quality of work is mediocre. If you want to "be the contractor" yourself, you'll have to oversight of your entire project. We did the landscape transformation for water conservation. We accomplished that, but getting there, working with this contractor wasn't a smooth process. The contractor didn't provide any plans for the landscaping and we tried to work with them on payments and flexible designs. We didn't get our moneys worth and it seems like the budget we set, we didn't get the quality of work for what we paid for. read more

I am so pleased that we decided to go with this company for our weekly landscaping maintenance. They do it all; from mowing to weeding, to treating for weeds, fertilizing. They come promptly every week and leave my yard looking amazing! I have a short story to show how great they are. I have a small garden and I spent an entire day planting, transplanting, etc. I got so busy with my kids that I didn't have time to clean up the bags from the soil, wrappers from the transplanted plants, tools, weeds that I dug up, etc. they cleaned all of it up for me! I was required to pull my weeds! The blessing of living in a Mobile Home Park, everyone's yards are emaculate. We definitley needed some help! My mom and I had let the weeds grow out of control and we have rock! Needless to say we needed help and quick! I was so happy that Miguel got back to me within an hour of sending the message and was able to come by two days later for a consultation. He discounted us from $550 to $300 since he already had a job near us the day he was coming down. He lives so far away!! He travels long distances for his customers.They took all of the weeds off the property. Im grateful for all of this. However, 300 is a lot for us and I guess I might have expected too much. There were spots left completely untouched. There was only one worker on his crew! He was a hard worker too! Unfortunately, they had to come back the next day as well, because their other job ran much later than expected. Miguel was respectful and honest. And even though his work seemed unfinished, I trusted him and felt comfortable telling him I wasn't going to be home the next day when he came back and finished up and to let me know when he was done so I could Zelle him the money then! Which someone who takes zelle was a big treat because I hate unessecary trips to the bank! I'm grateful but the spots that were missed are totally visible and I wish I'd been told that $300 wasn't for the whole job or it wasn't going to be their best job. And I wish I'd asked how many people were on his crew! I felt so bad watching one guy do my whole yard :( other than that it was nice having my yard back and being able to pay someone for their help. So I ask for an estimate to mow the lawn. I get told $80/month for twice a month service. Keep in mind I was paying $80 for 4 times weekly prior before he retired. But that's another story. So then I tell the owner that I just need one time only. So you would think a reputable businessman would say okay for one time maybe $40 or $50 or at the most $60. What does this business decide to do??? Take advantage of the situation and ask for $100. This business has no ethics to try to take advantage of a situation. Please stay away. read more

So let me start by saying that in the beginning Miguel agreed and help me with monthly payments which was awesome because this was what I could afford. At first everything was working out I did put up a good amount when I did pay him monthly, it wasn't cheap let me just say that. He came the first couple of times to go over the plans with me which was to create a bonfire scenery, lay pavers and rock. As I finished paying him off for half of the side to be done we talked about the other project being the other side. There was still some things left for him and his guys to finish on the first side and this is where it started to get messy. So he stopped sending his guys one weekend but then it turned into weeks and then months finally I reached out to him asking him what had happened and he said that he had lost some of his guys due to being sick with covid. He said to be patient and he would send one or two of his other guys in 2 weeks. The 2 weeks came around and no one came I was trying to be understanding and waited another month before I finally reached out to him again. Mind you I had already paid for the one side to be finished I was already in process of payments for the other side. When I reached out to him again he said he would send his guys in another 2 weeks I told him I was patient enough and to please send the guys this time. This happened more than a couple of times and the thing that frustrated me the most was that he wasn't in communication with me at all even to at least let me know hey I know I said they would be there today but they can't make it instead he had me waiting for them to find out they never came. Finally I think after about 4-5months he got his guys to come out cement in little did I know all the dirt I had was put in my front yard and a little plantery I have in my back yard which didn't have a lot of dirt. About a week or 2 after they left keep in mind the projects weren't done yet, it started to rain. A couple of days later all the dirt they had put in my plantery had formed so much water that it started to seep through my walls which caused my carpets in both rooms connected to plantery to get wet. I was confused not knowing where the water was coming from because I knew it couldn't be a leak due to my plumbing running above attic so I went outside and found that all the extra dirt they put in the plantery was still wet from when it had rained a couple of weeks before. They didn't even put any metal guard to keep the dirt away from the foundation of my home so al the wetness had formed against the walls which caused the water to run through my carpets. The smell was awful and I text Miguel right away to tell him. He acted surprised and said he would send his guys to remove the dirt I told him he had to pay for me having to pay someone to clean my carpets which was about $200 he never said anything. Then he sends his guys over 3-4 weeks after I kept texting him asking him when he was going to send his guys he just kept telling me to be patient well I had run out of patience and was going to file a lawsuit against him because by this time I had only owed him about $400 total for all projects which I told him he had to give me credit for paying someone to clean my carpets mind you even by this time they still weren't done and the dirt was still in the plantery too. He texts me back after I told him I couldn't wait any longer on the texts I was trying to make sure he was having his guys do everything we had talked about and all he says is leave the gate open. He finally sends his guys, they started fixing my front yard and one of them asks me what I would like in the front yard and I told him to ask his boss since he had told me in the beginning he had the idea of what he was going to do and the worker tells me his boss told him to ask me. I told them I didn't know since the idea was supposed to be from Miguel which we had discussed. I went to work and when I returned I found out that they had just cut some random aloe Vera plant from the front yard and just set 2 of them in my front yard which didn't make since this isn't what I had paid for. I go to the backyard and find that most of al the dirt was removed but noticed they had put all the dirt on my side yard and added more to the front yard. The whole purpose of these projects was to get rid of as much dirt but no dirt was ever taken it was just placed in different section of my property. In the outcome I would NOT recommend this landscaping business to anyone super unprofessional and not good at communicating. I'm not going to lie my backyard does look nicer than it did before but not what I paid for I paid too much for it to have been left the way it did on top of that some of things we agreed upon and is written on my receipts didn't even get done but by this time I had just had enough so I let it be to not deal with the added stress. Got our new lawn installed in January, 2017 and forgot to write a review. Our lawn looked amazing after the rodriguez team finished with it. It was a fairly small lawn but they had to do a lot since the lawn before was destroyed. They put new grass, re did the flower bed area and installed sprinklers.It was a night and day transformation. Our sprinkler head became damaged recently and we reached out to Rodriguez landscaping again since they did our lawn and the guy came out (of his busy day) to fix it. I am beyond thrilled and will be reaching our in the future to get some other things done. read more

he talk big before getting hired. He told us if u need excellent work , this is my price. He started asking for money every time he will come to the site, i thought it can be because of some bad experiences he might have in past. We agreed to a price but then when it came to buying plants and rocks, he kept on asking more money. he also told me that he dont know where to get rocks from as the white rocks r not available. i have to look for the vendors for him. before starting the project he said he will bring the plant samples and guide us along the way, later we were running to nurseries and he was asking us questions about the plants. We still paid him, he did the rocks of our choice just on 10% or 50% project has yellow rocks. i was so drained telling him we don't need these rocks but i gave up at the end and asked him to put whatever he like (to avoid the frustration) and he put the yellow stones that too very poor quality) He makes u feel that he underestimated the work and he is the victim. i was reading another review about him where he shared the screenshot of conversations, i felt like the client is frustrated because of the same reason as me. He did not walk his talk. for every plant we select, he will say oh this is expensive then thr budget, u ppl have to pay me more, we ended up paying him 25-30% extra because he was always complaining. there was a time when i told him that i dont need ur money, finish the project and take it. he will not come on the committed date and time, that was another issue. like he said he will do the plants on tuesday, but he actually will have no intention to do it and on tuesday he will say thrusday, one has to follow up with him so bad.
