The walls were dirty, dingy with holes and cracks. The toilet was clogged and I had to retrieve a plunger from the snarky desk clerk. The wi-fi didn't work, and the tv was almost unwatchable. The bathroom door didn't close. No pool, no breakfast. Broken door locks. Half of the motel was occupied by low-income housing folks. This place is disgusting. So much is wrong with this place that a thorough cleaning, a couple of hundred bucks worth of furniture and paint and a little TLC would make it a 1-star stay. read more

I have been traveling all over the world , tried dozens hotels in my life , but this place is above and beyond of what I have seen so far. Without any doubt the worst hotel that I have ever been at. First the smell of the hallway , this place is full of mold coming from the walls and gets to the room carpet. We came here with a huge group of us. I think 6 rooms all together. Luckily, my Fiancee and I had the best room out of everyone. The entire hotel had this horrible odor. We went to the store and bought candles to try and break up some of the horrible odor. We were there to spend the long weekend doing some Halloween haunts so we wouldn't be spending too much time in our rooms. My Finacee is an exterminator so he did check everyone's rooms for bedbugs as everyone here is complaining of bed bugs! I'm happy to say NO ROOM HAD BED BUGS! There were definitely bugs in the rooms..JUST NOT BED BUGS! The man at the front desk was extremely nice upon check in and that deserves the three stars. I would not stay here again under any circumstances. When I go away I like a little luxury. This is NOT the place. There is no steak restaurant on the premises like it's stated places either. I haven't written a Yelp review in years, but Roadway Inn Skytop can take credit for getting me back in the game. I wish I had picture evidence, but I was too busy using my phone to call around to find alternative accommodations. But I am not exaggerating when I mention the mold in the bathroom, the cigarette burns on the bed spread, the dirty carpets and the red stains on the sheets. What is most memorable is the smell, the overbearing dank smell of mold, damp, smoke and body odor - and the attempt to cover it up with cheap sense diffusers. I stayed in my room for about ten minutes, and left as soon as I got confirmation from a b'n b in the next town over that they could host me., and I am never going back. Shampoo was half used!? No conditioner, no cups, no coffee maker, no wash cloths, towels were all stained, comforter is disgusting. The whole bathroom smells like something is burning electrically. At 3:20 a.m. a guy is talking to the front desk I watch him go around banging on all of our doors. I called the front desk to make sure everything is OK n he says yes it is fine he doesn't know what the guy wanted but he is in 245...they would Never tell you what room another guest is in. It was obviously somebody local as he rode off on a bicycle and another guy who also banged on doors walked around the back of the building. Neither appeared to be drunk or anything. So no idea what was going on and I wonder if the hotel guy was in on it? read more

So, I just checked in. Immediately it did not look like a good place. Anyways, I checked in and got my room. It was a little spacious and I thought maybe not bad. Next I met the neighbors (a young couple). The man asked if I seen his phone. I looked and he thanked me. Than, he got into a fight with his female roommate. I let the office know and they said that happens here and let him know if it continues. Next thing I know, someone called the cops and three squad cars arrive and talk to them. Then they leave and say they'll be back in 10 min. They never came back. This just isn't a good place. You've been warned. I usually don't listen to reviews but I wish I could send myself this one from the future to prevent me from staying here. Eventually the couple left and then there was another fight between another couple. Unbelievable 3 night stay. Luke warm water, and sulfur water at that. Not entirely sure the sheets were clean, not enough towels and had to call twice for more before getting any. All around funny smell to the room.... The Good: comfortable, firm bed. Shower works well, plenty of parking, clean room, friendly staff, scenic setting with lots of trees and green. The Bad: Walls are thin, crappy continental breakfast with cheap thrift store quality pastries and cheap bread, no Wi-Fi. There is a good chance that you will hear your neighbor's TV at 3 AM. I had to use ear plugs two out of three nights. The breakfast menu mainly consists of OJ, coffee and cereal. The tap water is disgusting! Not a bad place for the price. It is the cheapest motel in the area. The pool and restaurant are closed down, but seeing the area, I can totally understand why. This is the boondocks, so they probably can't afford to keep it open, especially not with their cheap prices. Bed are comfortable, rooms are clean. Free breakfast includes huge muffins, cereal, toast, juice, milk and coffee. They have a computer in the lobby and a fitness room. An ice machine in lobby and a soda machine. A local diner delivers to motel and it has some interesting food choices I have never seen before. Fridge and microwave in room and they worked. Guy named CJ who worked at front desk was super helpful and nice. Let us check in early for no additional charge which was nice because we were exhausted. He was extremely helpful with everything. First thing I did was check the bed for bed bugs and happy to report there are none and mattresses look very clean. It's nothing fancy, but who cares? It's clean, cheap and has great customer service. I am very satisfied! Walls are very thin though but all I heard was someone coughing, not a big deal. read more

This place was absolutely horrific! They didn't even have fitted bedsheets, the water was cloudy, pool was not open and looks like it hasn't been for years, and had a terrible smell to The place. My parents had come up for the weekend to stay with us and got bedbug bites all over them! We only stayed because we could not get refunded through booking through Expedia! The only bonus was that The two guys at the front desk we're very lovely to deal with him and tried as hard as they could to make things better for us. If it was not for them I probably would have thrown a complete stink to get my money back as much as possible! Definitely don't stay here !!! read more

I understand from the very helpful young man at the front desk that the owners have only recently taken over the business, and I am hopeful that they will make some much-needed changes. GOOD STUFF 1. Staff reasonably friendly; I was upgraded to a king room in back when I checked in; morning staff were pleasant and helpful. 2. Microwave/fridge combo is very helpful for people on a budget. (Fridge is also a bit noisy, if you're a light sleeper you might want to unplug it if you're not using it.) 3. I had a tiled shower stall that was quite spacious and I prefered it over a tub (who takes a bath in a hotel?). BAD STUFF 1. Lights on the driveway need to be lit! I had a lot of trouble finding the place to turn as it was, and then the narrow twisty driveway was unlit, making it even more difficult. 2. Maybe it was just my room, but the water in the sink sputtered instead of flowing. Agree with the other reviewer about the smell, as well. Luckily, I had a bottle of water with me. Not sure what can be done, but it's very off-putting. 3. Not the cleanest room I've ever been in. Dust on the fixtures, etc. 4. Coffee set-up needs updating; one pot of regular coffee and one pot of decaf is not enough! Also adding some little tubs of peanut butter to the jelly assortment would be nice. Some people don't function well on only carbs. 5. When the heater was on, it blew the drapes away from the window and all the heat went up there. Then it shut off and the drapes fell back, and the thermostat sensed that it wasn't warm enough yet, and started up the heater again. This happened for at least half an hour, which is whan I got tired of the noise and turned it off. (I was on the ground floor, so opening the drapes wasn't really an option.) Lucky for me, it's not too cold overnight yet ... I paid $114.99 per night on the weekend of the NY Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck (the whole county is booked up). Not sure it was equivalent to the value I received. Will probably not stay again, but I wish them well. read more

What an absolutely POOR excuse for a bargain hotel. I have no actual standards for hotels so this should tell you how terrible this place is. The power has literally been cut in the middle of the night and I'm here alone so don't want to walk across the empty parking lot at the end of the building to the front desk to complain about the no lights. There's no power at all here and the lines are dead. I feel like I'm in a trash hotel slasher fillm. The lamp was plugged in but the cord was cut. The carpet made my socks FILTHY after just a half hour at most of walking around. The room is disgusting. The front desk joked about people coming in for ten minutes to use the room and leave, claiming they get a lot of homeless people using the rooms (should've been the BIG red flag during check in) but I'm starting to think it's because people take a look at the nightmare of a room and decide to check out because it's so disgusting. And now I'm freaked out and scared for my safety because there's NO POWER AND IM A FEMALE ALONE IN THIS PITCH BLACK ROOM. How on earth is it okay for you to be open and operate this way??! UPDATE: had to walk out with a pair of scissors for fear of my life, outside across the parking lot to see light is off in entire premises. Nobody in the lobby. Service numbers are not working. We're in the absolute middle of nowhere and the fact that this place is known to house prostitutes and drug dealers..... this isn't okay: I'm demanding a refund because it went from me not being able to completely my work because of no power to my laptop, to me fearing for my fucking life in a shitty motel alone in the dark middle of nowhere. read more

Aside from the dirty, filthy, putrid room, for a one night stay, my family of 4 survived. We will NEVER-EVER stay here again. We wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE, EVER. It's just horrible. They should really sell T-Shirts that say, "I SURVIVED THE SKYTOP". They'd probably make a mint, if anyone dares stay. Trying to share some photos of our room, but they will probably be deleted by management. In a nutshell, the room was filthy, and VILE. The furniture looks as if it was recovered from a flood. the room smells of smoke and who knows what. ALL of the walls were covered in dirty hand prints, finger prints, shoe marks, what looked liked dried boogers, streaky runs of mystery fluid. The coverlets on the bed had blood stains all over, the only upgrade in the room was the commode and the sink in the bathroom. there was what appeared to be blood splatter on the bathroom walls, could have been some weird mold. The tub was dingy, moldy, and needed a good scrubbing with some comet. The coffee area in the lobby was dirty, and they offered 2 kinds of stale cereal, cornflakes and raisin bran. There is a "Steakhouse" on premises, but it was not operating. This is what happens when a motel in a beautiful location, with so much potential, is run into section 8 housing, and is lived in and run by the owner and their extended family. read more

RUN, don't walk, away from this hell hole!!! If I could give it zero stars, I would!! You can tell this was quite the place to be back in the day, but the property is in DESPERATE need of up-keep. I am not a fancy person. Motel 6 is kind of a standard, but I do expect that when I spend $70 on a room, that it is at least going to be clean. The shower was covered in mold and mildew. The carpet was GROSS and left my feet black when I made the mistake of walking barefoot on it. The water in the shower barely got lukewarm and smelled heavily of sulfur, and the internet would not work. When I called the man at the front desk to please fix the internet issue, he hung up on me. So I walked to the lobby in the rain and told him that the ISP failed and he needed to contact the internet provider or do a full reboot. He told me he turned it off and on again. When I let him know that was not enough to fix the problem, he actually said : "What the fuck else do you expect me to do about it?" Oh, I don't know.... HOW ABOUT YOUR JOB? P.S. He never fixed it. I woke in the morning with what I assume were bed bug bites after being up most of the night listening to arguing neighbors (because the walls are paper thin). I have stayed at many Roadway Inns, but this privately owned one was disgusting and run very poorly. Do not waste your money. You'd be better off sleeping in your car on the side of the road as we wished we had. read more

All of he negative reviews are very accurate. Do not stay here. The staff was average but the room itself was very dirty and definitely wasn't a safe vibe. The area is not well lit, in the middle of nowhere, and there was trash and destroyed cars outside. I requested a non-smoking room, and nearly had an asthma attack upon entering due to the smokey air. The musty odor and the slow-running drains are bearable if you factor in the low price, but the polyester towels drive me crazy. You step out of three inches of water in the shower, pull a towel off the rack, and discover that these towels are probably made from recycled plastic bags. A more accurate rating would be 0 stars. My friend and I walked into the overpriced cigarette smelling shithole of a room and starting laughing at ourselves. The rugs were dirty and there were used cups that seemed to have 2 week old room temperature yogurt in them under the beds. We then checked the beds for bed bugs and there was a disgusting amount of them on each of the beds as shown in the pictures. I then went and asked, very pleasantly, for my money back and the front desk only offered 1 night money back on my 2 night stay. UNACCEPTABLE. We then tried a different room and had the same problem with the bugs. I was already in a bad mood and this just set me off so I made a scene and called corporate. I think the man, Mr. Patel (he wouldn't tell me his first name), working the front desk got nervous so he finally gave me my full 2 nights back. Stayed 2 nights in a non smoking room that smelled like a dirty ashtray. The decor was very dated & for cleanliness on a scale of 1-10 it was a 5. There were no other rooms available due to holiday weekend. I asked that clean towels be put in my room the second day. The housekeeping staff left my door on the backside of the motel facing the woods opened all day. I'm lucky I wasn't attacked by a pervert or a wild animal. When explaining this to the desk clerk she stated, " So. What do you want me to do it's not my problem I'm the night desk clerk." When asking the desk clerk for the owners name; to bring my concerns to his attention she began yelling at me because I didn't hear her response to my question. I spoke to the owner who did apologize but didn't offer any compensation for this horrible service. I won't be staying there again. read more

The carpets were dirty, and they literally had pieces of carpet cut out in random shapes and placed on the sidewalk like door mats. We were about to get in bed when we checked for bed bugs and sure enough the beds were crawling with them. The staff offered another room, which also had bedbugs, and the gentleman who was staying next door to us also had bedbugs. It was a horrible experience staying here. It needs a total refresh and update. The staff are nice, but the facilities are awful. The beds were uncomfortable, the rooms were not clean, the furniture looked like it came from the scratch and dent shop and the refrigerator did not work and had a terrible odor. The curtains were not large enough to cover the window and the only available plug was in the bathroom. The pool area was derelict and the drive up to the hotel was unlit and kind of creepy. We had to go out and buy air freshener to spray in the room because of the smell. If we could have found other accommodations we would have left without staying there. Do NOT stay here. If you're just looking for an easy place to stay a night or two, with good friendly people, then this place is perfect! No this is not the fanciest place, but it is clean and at a great price! While staying there I had lost my robe. The staff there went WAY beyond expectations to search every nook and cranny of that building for it. And even we couldn't find it, they were sincerely apologetic and offered to mail it to me if found. What more can you ask for... good kind people. :) read more

After all the negative reviews, I was curious what this place would be like. Turns out it was a lot better than most people here described, certainly acceptable given the low price. The people working there were very friendly. The rooms were clean (we rented two). The decor is spartan, so don't expect Louis XV furniture. My main complaint was that the wifi was spotty. It's also true as some people said that the water was virtually undrinkable, had a strong sulfur smell. I didn't bother with the breakfast but the coffee was drinkable. If the wifi had been better I would have given it four stars. read more
