We had an interesting opportunity to see how dine and dash is not supported in Ozark. As we were entering the restaurant we were nearly run over by a table of guests running out the doors. They were followed by the staff. Lots of screaming as the manager patiently listened to a complaint of hair found on a plate. Police later joined the party. We were still seated within 12 minutes and led to a comfortable booth. Tortilla chips and salsa followed. I enjoyed a well made margarita and the Tacos Locos meal. Horrible customer service from the owner Hugo. I went in for a taco salad. Waited 15mins to be greeted, but no one greeted me. I asked for the manager. He came out with a nasty attitude (Hugo) like I was already getting on his nerves. Explained the situation on how no one greeted me for so long, & how I was just there for a pick up order. He didn't apologize or try to correct the poor customer service. He just wanted to go back & forth with me, & I wasn't there for that. Customer service is simple. I'd love to give a four, maybe a five star rating but it took forever for someone to acknowledge that I was even in the building. After I was finally seated it took a while before anyone noticed me. They have help wanted signs out front so I'm chalking it up to they are short staffed. When I finally placed my order the food was out very quickly. I had their Chile Poblanos. Absolutely amazing food! My server was also on point and very attentive but not overly so. I was excited to visit Rodeo for my birthday as I do every year. From the start I could tell that our waitress was not very attentive to our table but hey it's my birthday let it slide. The food was salty and so was the waitress nobody at our table of 9 received a refill and if you needed anything from her you would be told to wait. When getting ready to leave we are all talking about how we didn't get a refill she walks by snaps and says I ASKED YOU IF YOU NEEDED ANYTHING (She did not) snatched a lid from my mom simply because she asked for a new one due to the one she had having something stuck to it. Upon leaving we spoke with the manager whom told us our cups were full every time he walked by( I told everyone sip slowly because I already felt that she would not be bringing anymore around) I told him we simply wanted him to address the issue with his waitress, that conversation didn't go anywhere his waitress was in the write. Absolutely Amazing. The waitress was very helpful and very sweet, the food was great. The flavors were a mixture of Tex-Cali Mex and everything from the beans to the burritos were top notch. We're only here for a few days but I'd definitely stop by this restaurant again and may before we leave Alabama. Having retired and moving back home to Ozark, we were looking for something close to authentic Tex-Mex food. After spending 38 years in Texas, we're a little spoiled. The food here is very good for a hole-in-the-wall, Tex-Mex place, not real spicy but you can tell it is Tex-Mex. The quality, preparation and certainly the quantity is good. The Tamales aren't quite like the real thing, but close enough, the enchiladas, rice and beans were very good. The best thing is the price, it is very reasonable, especially for the quantity of food, I always take home enough for a lunch. We've stopped by several times and will be back. read more

So, i bought the tequila separately at the package store. I said it clearly at least 3 times. I waited. He brought me a frozen strawberry daiquiri. I said i don't like strawberry daquiri. May i please have a lime margarita? So he made it. I waited. He rang it up. I said i would buy both bcse im silly that way. He says, "nonono jus take eeet" I'm like ok thanks. Then he types a bunch of buttons and tells mew the total. $9.21 cents. For a VIRGIN margarita. He should have told me ahead that a virgin margarita was the same charge as an alcoholic one. Having moved away for 10 years, I missed this place so much. Didn't realize how good we had Mexican food here in Ozark and Dothan. Always get chicken quesadilla, quesadilla supreme, cheese enchiladas, chicken flautas, or tostadas. Sometimes cheese dip. Great food, good prices, and nice people working always! read more

We were a group of 6 plus a baby. Service was prompt and fine. Server not overly friendly but did her job well so not a biggy. Food was awesome....we had dishes that ranged from enchiladas, tacos, burritos, steak salad and a quesadilla. One had popcorn shrimp. And if I have to be honest there was more breading than shrimp. Small strip mall Tex Mex restaurant. When I entered on Monday afternoon around 1 the place was relatively empty. There was a customer standing in the entry way awaiting a carry out order. As I entered the kitchen staff looked up and saw me then returned to what they were doing. No one that worked there seemed too worried about greeting me. After what seemed like several minutes I was approached and seated. I found it rude but the server was nice. It was probably no more than 2 mins but always seems longer when you're standing there waiting to be acknowledged. The prices were a bit higher than I would expect for this type joint. Even the lunch specials seemed to be a couple bucks more than the cheap Mexican lunch joints I frequent. I wanted a taco salad and ordered one. What I received was a decent amount of shredded chicken, lettuce, cheese a small slice of tomato and a dollop of sour cream. Not exactly what I expected but the chicken was mild in flavor but ok. I would have liked some peppers, onions and beans in there but it was ok. Was it worth $8.00 no. I added salsa to it which definitely helped the flavor a lot. The shell was kind of greasy and stale. The chips were good. Not greasy, thin and crisp. The salsa was ok. It wasn't blended well. It appeared to be a thinner salsa with a few large chunks of tomato that didn't get hit with the blades as much as the rest. The server was attentivish. It seemed like the lunch crowd was over and they weren't really wanting a second wave of diners. Nothing special. The locals I've spoken to seem to prefer the other Mexican joint in town. My experience wasn't anything special. I don't think I will return. read more

Ozark Al, oddly enough as small as it is, has at least three Mexican restaurants. By far and away Rodeo's the best. My wife and have eaten lunch there at least four times, and I've eaten there at least three times alone. 100% of the time the food was perfect. Service is excellent. Even when they were busy, we weren't overlooked. The closest competitor is literally within walking distance and has been around forever. Very popular. I can't figure out why. Their food and service is horrible. Anyone from Ozark knows who I'm referring to. Give Rodeo's a try. read more

Pretty standard when it comes to Mexican food. I thought my Cozumel Special was delicious but a bit salty. I'm pretty sure the crabmeat quesadilla was really just imitation crabmeat. The shrimp burrito was again salty but happy to see large jumbo shrimp in it. My husband loved the Burrito de Guadalajara. I had the chance to eat his leftovers the next day because it was huge! It was pretty meaty also filled with sautéed onions and zucchini, not very Mexican but hey. I also couldn't miss the spice this burrito packed! Real good. Nice large frozen glasses of horchata and friendly service. Noticed on Mondays-Tuesdays-& Thursdays(?) they served $1.50 margaritas. Sweet deal. read more

The food is good and wait staff is friendly. However a word of warning!!! Cash stand will not honor specials displayed in the restaurant. A huge sign offering buy one lunch and the 2nd is half price. In front of cash stand huge lettering as you go in. The cashier was asked if he had taken the half price off one of lunches. His response was too late you should have told me I already got your receipt. I tried to reason with him and pointed to his sign. He just said it's too late. I already rang it up. My family has eaten here at least once a month for 2 and a half years now after church. We have loved it. The menu is great and the service has always been fantastic. The servers will take the time to play with your kids for a few minutes. Always felt welcomed. Until this last visit. We had a waitress that continually ingnored our questions or requests. After several ignored requests my wife asked to speak with the manager. He is a aggressive hateful human being that yelled at my wife about if there was nothing wrong with our food so he can't help us. He continued to be very aggressive towards her until he finally through his hands up and walked away himself. We will no longer be returning. Its a shame to that a restaurant with such awesome food and amazing staff is ruined by an extremely unprofessional manager. read more

Wife n I eat dinner here about every other month. We usually share a fajita for one because it's plenty for us seniors. Remember, you get salsa n chips within 2 minutes of being seated. The Fajita Rodeo (beef, chicken and shrimp) is generous. As always in Mexican restaurants, the beef is chewy. The chicken and shrimp are tender and well seasoned. The guacamole n pico de gallo are great. The refried beans n rice are generous and the cheese on the beans is just enough. Wife loves the Friday night special 22oz margarita. They're generous with the tequila. She says that the only better margs she's had are the ones I make at home. (Crush a half lime into a 14oz glass, add 1.5oz Sauza Tequila Blanco and stir a bit. Add 1oz Montezuma triple sec and 1oz water. Stir that up and add hard frozen ice to fill the glass. If you're using "soft" ice, skip the water.) BTW: We visited on Friday, 3/8/13. The wifi at the motel was too weak to upload anything that evening. read more
