Acro Pure, the no VOC paint. Overflowing (I'm a slob) with an amazingly bright green color.

I had been renovating an old, decrepit, little house from the 1950's for the past couple of months, and was very happy to have found Miller Paint Company. Why? Lots of reasons... 1. Really, really, really good service. You walk in, they say hi. Even though they are always very busy - it's a hot spot for contractors picking up paints. They manage to make sure everyone is taken care of, consistently (I went in there at least twice a week to pick up more paint because I was repainting every room of my house). They always walk you to your vehicle! They carry your things for you. It's wonderful. Extra funny: I'm a bicyclist, I carry my paints in a huge bike basket - they *walked me to my bike*. These people rock. 2. They've got the goods. I am trying to be Miss Eco Painter here, and they carry a line of no VOC paint, called Acro Pure. Woo! It costs a few bucks extra per gallon, but I don't mind and the paint looks great. They color match. Bring in your auntie's painting of puppies, or a swatch of neat-o fabric, and they make a paint as close as they can to your color. They have a good section of faux painting materials: rollers, crackle stuff, you name it. I used to poo-poo that kind of painting but fell prey to the idea of using *metallic* paint. They have really cool looking mica additive to make sparkles, too. The prices are great for all the accessories like tape, rollers, plastic sheeting, etc. They are knowledgeable about what's useful and can help you find what you need. All in all, Miller Paint offers so much, I highly recommend going there. They made my extremely tiring renovation a little more easy, a lot more bearable. Happy painting.

I bought their "best" paint Miller calls "Evolution" and I am shocked what garbage it is. Understand that I am a European trained painter, specialized in Faux marble, wood gaining and murals and know how to evaluate one paint over the next. After all, the level of even coverage determines how good whatever you put on next is going to look. I also tried their wall paint, sold under the same name and that too is totally inexcusably bad. Low body and terrible coverage and bad adhesion. Many private labels are manufactured by the same companies and sold under various names. I doubt Miller makes their own garbage and I don't understand how they can stay in business. I went to Sherman Williams and got their Pro-Classic and instantly noticed a huge difference in adhesion coating coverage and flow. When I spoke to another customer there he too told me of the nightmares he endured buying stuff from Miller. I don't work for Sherman Williams and anyone is welcome to call me 310-773- Dietrick

Prices are competitive, and they offer great discounts for regular customers. The staff suggested their in house credit card so I signed up for their store credit card, which only requires a soft credit check. I've bought mostly paint, caulking, and more here, and the quality is always pretty good. I used to shop around, but now I go exclusively to Sherwin-Williams. I Highly recommend.

Sherwin-Williams is obviously a big chain store, so the experience and products can only vary so much. However, this store's employees were efficient and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, it's in a weird location that's kind of hard to get to. The small parking lot is sandwiched by many-lane, quick-moving roads. for ease of access I would go to other stores, unless I were already in this area or they had a product that was out of stock elsewhere. As with any Sherwin-Williams, I recommend keeping an eye out for their 30-40% off sales that happen periodically throughout the year.

Over the years, both of us have done multiple fabulous interior painting projects using Sherwin-Williams paints. My husband and I even had a really good Sherwin-Williams exterior project: painting the shabby stucco wall of our neighbor's garage. That exterior paint has held up great for several years. But our other outdoor Sherwin-Williams project has been a disaster. We have raised wooden beds in our backyard. When we expanded them, we decided to go top-of-the-line with Sherwin-Williams stain instead of our usual hardware store brand. I took pictures of our project and had a wonderful consultation with the employee there, and felt 100% positive that our new stain would be fabulous. We did all the prep properly and followed all the instructions. And, a mere year later, the stain began to flake. Two years later, and it looks embarrassingly bad. It's flaked up in huge chunks and I AM MAD. Again, we consulted properly and did all the proper prep and insured that we were using the correct products. That being said, I do feel like the staff there are/were lovely. And I've loved all of our other Sherwin-Williams paint projects. But I will never buy an exterior Sherwin-Williams product again.

After watching YouTube videos about painting old floors white I called Sherwin-Williams and by a lucky chance I got Fay and she helped me get started. I had no idea there were so many shades of white So after I realized I painted my floors a shade of white that looks way too cool I went back to the store and talked to Fay and she suggested a paint color called Greek Villa! She explained a lot of the different white hues this gal is literally a paint wizard. I went home and repainted and WOW my floors look incredible! After returning some unused items, Nick was kind enough to inform me of a promotion making the upgraded paint cheaper than the grade I was inquiring about. He even honored the current sale for the one gallon I'd bought a few days prior, which he certainly didn't have to do. When I contemplated buying more he informed me of an upcoming sale, so I knew I wouldn't be missing out. I will 100% be back largely in part to Nick going above and beyond for a great customer experience.

I'm kind of torn about my experience here…read more I needed to paint an area of about 2" x 2". Spoke to the kid at the counter and he told me that the product I was looking for had since changed names. The contractor paint that I was looking for to touch up my ceiling was a 700 series and is now a 400 series per him. He said it comes in 1 gallon, which is the smallest he could do for me. I didn't really want that much paint but I didn't really seem to have an option. He did give me a discount because I had my Builder's information so the gallon of paint was almost $50. I went home and touched up the area, and immediately knew it was not a match. It was super Duper shiny more like a gloss. I let it dry and came back and could see it a mile away. It was definitely much brighter white as well. I called the store and a female answered, and I explained the situation to her. She then promptly tells me that that is definitely not a match and even though the series changed that is not the correct paint for my ceiling. I asked her if I could return it and she said they did not allow returns. I explained the situation to her and told her that the gentleman told me it was a match and I had photos to prove it. I told her how big the area was, and after about 10 minutes she finally said that I could actually bring the paint back. The gentleman was in the store when I returned, and I attempted to talk to him about it because basically, I had wasted about two hours of my time doing this, and he would not speak to me at the counter. I mean, if it was a mistake and you didn't know then just own up to it. I was super put out by it, but the girl did the right thing in the end and I got a refund and left.

Which by the way is vastly different than my previous Old English Tudor. To give my powder room personality and a WOW factor, I decided to wallpaper the small room rather than do a tile application which would have tripled the cost. My contractor recommended this Miller Paint location saying they had the best wallpaper selection in Portland. I didn't want the garish wallpaper of my youth and had a particular idea in mind. Enter Karen, the Wallpaper Goddess. I described a large, bold, chevron pattern in shades of gray and gray-blues. Karen walks to a wall loaded with books, picked out three, flipped to a few pages and I said, stop, that's it, that is what is in my head! Went home and put the book in the powder room and immediately called Karen and placed the order (Candace Olson design.) Karen even helped me find an installer. Next I decided to do an accent wall in my Master bedroom. Again, I had something very specific in mind. So specific I was contemplating hiring an artist to paint the wall. When I described the design concept to Karen she said, you don't have to hire an artist, you are describing Cork wallpaper. Again she goes over to the huge assortment of books, selects a few, opens to a page and on the first try, there was the exact pattern I had envisioned, exactly like a pic I clipped from a magazine and showed Karen. Ordered it on the spot. (Another Candace Olson design.) Three times a charm and so when I decided that I needed one more accent wall, this time in the foyer, I came back to see the Wizard. I described a wall that would have texture, colors and reminiscent of sand on the beach, with specs of shiny gray to pull in the color of the opposing walls and to provide a subtle sparkle. Karen said, do you mean you want Mica? I said I don't know what Mica is, I just know what is in my head. She brings me a book, and once again, right on the money. Seriously, how does she do this? Karen is incredible! She has also helped me pick out paint colors to work with existing tile and carpet. Nailed it every single time. Karen thinks I'm amazing because I pick out wallpaper on the first try and some people spend weeks coming and going with arms full of wallpaper books. Well, I know what I want and Karen magically produces it, so no need to waste time! Decisive is my game. In addition to her talents, Karen is super nice to work with. I'm bummed that my house is completely done as we made a good team! Don't be afraid of wallpaper. The designs these days are incredible and they can transform your space. Go to Miller Paint, grab some popcorn on the first floor, and walk up the steps to the wallpaper area and let Karen do her magic. Oh, and all the people working in the paint area are also professional, friendly and helpful. Great staff all the way around! Wish every store was like this. There is a huge parking lot so parking is a breeze, and they carry your paint and purchases to your car. Tell Karen I sent you!
