Everything was so extraordinary that I scarcely possess the words to convey it. The delectable flavors lingered upon my palate in the most exquisite manner, leaving an impression that shall not soon be forgotten. The service was nothing short of exemplary, delivered with a degree of attentiveness and refinement that surpassed all expectations. As for the ambiance, it was curated with impeccable taste and fashioned to absolute perfection, creating an atmosphere of unparalleled elegance and charm. read more

This place is a 10/10. It did get busy while we were there (we were told 45 min to an hour and before we left there were so many orders it was 1.4-2 hour wait) so I do recommend calling in your order to pick up. I personally am a spicy chicken teriyaki kinda girl and it's what I always get. That garlic af blew my mind. It was absolutely amazing. The kayak burger was delicious and the coleslaw salad will be my go to side. Cute inside space, nice wall decor and it's not too crowded as far as tables goes. The staff were so friendly, and they are right when they say they're famous for their garlic af chicken! read more

The customer service was definitely the highlight of our visit. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming, and I'm telling you, the customer service made up for everything. We ordered the Garlic AF Chicken and the Sticky Situation. I did order extra protein too, which honestly I probably didn't even need because the portions were already huge. And when they say Garlic AF, they mean it The presentation looked great, and the prices were really good for the amount of food you get. The rice did seem a little softer than what I'm used to. Also, not gonna lie, don't sit by the door. Our food got cold pretty fast. The restrooms were clean too. I'm picky about hand soap though, and theirs wasn't doing it for me That's just me though, I love a good hand soap. The place was clean, the prices were good, and the customer service really stood out. I'll definitely come back again. read more

2.4/5 I really wanted to like this place. I had seen it on social media but don't find myself in Tacoma often so when I was finally in the area I knew I was gonna stop by. Ambiance - cute teriyaki spot. Maybe 6-10 tables inside. Big tvs as soon as you walk in with the menu displayed. Service - maybe some of the best GENUINE service I've seen. The woman at the front is amazing. Greeting everyone who walks in, walking some people to the door. Calling out regulars by name. She remembered someone who came in for the first time the week prior and welcomed them back. She made time to offer me water while I waited. Which brings me to one downside. Wait time is crazy. I waited 30 minutes for my food which for teriyaki is excessive BUT, won't dock them for this because they are super popular. They had a line and the place was packed the whole time I was there. Food - portions are massive. Definitely getting your bang for your buck here. Ordered the combo. Spicy teriyaki and garlic chicken. Also a gochujang chicken sandwich. Here was the issue. The chicken sandwich was solid but they over grilled the top bun to the point it was burnt. The combo plate came with macaroni salad which I liked. It had a slight sweetness to it. Also cucumber salad. Cucumber was freshly cut before tossed in marinade. Wish it had sat longer. The chicken however.... overly charred. Making it taste dried out and just burnt. I gave my fiance a bite of each and she agreed. Just bitter from the char on the chicken. Overall great service and value but the food just didn't hold up. Most of it was burnt. But look, the service was SO good, I'm gonna give them another shot. Probably just an off day, especially with how busy it was. read more

I visited Rocky Teriyaki for lunch today with a friend and I'm glad we did. There were so many tempting selections but we both decided on the garlic chicken. I had the meal with two sides and she had the bowl. The portion size was large for both the meal and the bowl. I could only eat half of mine and my friend took part of her's home, too. I look forward to returning to try their spicy teriyaki. It's a solid place to eat. read more

Huge portions! I love the sides options as it's different than what you usually expect. I went on a weekend and it was full but most people were ordering to go so we were able to dine in. The restaurant is clean and the owners are very attentive making sure the experience was enjoyable. They also had a 10 second timer which was different and fun! If I'm in the area I'll be stopping by again. read more

100/10! Do yourself a favor, brave the ghetto and make it here. It's now called Rocky Teriyaki, btw. The flavor of both dishes were phenomenal! I've never tasted anything like it. The service did take about 35 min but it was so worth it and everyone knows it. They receive a lot of pick up orders so they constantly stay busy but are sooooo sweet!! I've never seen such happy employees in a rush hour. It made me appreciate this place so much more. The seating is plenty and the restaurant was so bright and clean. Will be back a million times more. Please support this place! read more

We didn't call ahead to make an order and they did warn us when we arrived that it would be a 90min wait. We decided to wait because we kept getting videos about this spot. Glad we waited! The food was really f*king good; especially the garlic chicken. We did get the short ribs and weren't fans, it wasn't terrible--just not for us. Everything else was really good! The staff is super friendly too which we absolutely appreciate. Happy to add this place to our takeout rotation. read more

This place is phenomenal. Very clean and modern. I got the Garlic Teriyaki Chicken with brown rice. I want to recommend this place to everyone I know. The staff is so friendly, sociable, and very accommodating and that is an understatement; the lady who helped us made the whole visit worth it. The food was so good. After a few bites I had to run to the Yelp app to review it. One thing I would recommend trying, if you get a side, TRY the mac salad. It's different, but it's very good. First timers!! Garlic / Chicken Katsu w cucumber & edamame salad 10/10 - Garlic & Chicken Katsu are the two you can never go wrong w mixing. The garlic chicken was very creamy & the katsu brought that sweet taste into it. Hot Chicken Teriyaki w Cucumber and Cabbage salad 10/10 - Hot Chicken Teriyaki came w jalapeño's that made the chicken even more spicier. As a family that loves spicy, this was a great choice. It blended perfectly with the cabbage salad. Katsu Bowl (comes with all rice) 10/10 - My daughter absolutely couldn't get enough of this. She loved it. The katsu is a tad bit sweet and went well with sriracha! It's a hit for us! All I can say is this food was by far one of the best meals my family have ordered. We absolutely enjoyed every single bite. The portion sizes are doubled and can feed 2-3 people. The bowl itself can definitely feed 2. My favorite was definitely the half & half plate with the edamame salad & cucumber. Absolutely highly recommend. They all blended together in flavor. Although, I expected the cucumber to be more vinegary but other than that, it still went perfectly well with everything. You can also meal prep just one plate for 3-4 days if that's what you're into. Price: $68 - very well spent read more

Really enjoyed the "You Do You" teriyaki plate where you can customize it with two entrées of your choice. I got the Garlic AF Chicken and the "Katsu Me If You Can." Both were delicious, but I especially loved the Garlic AF Chicken because it was so flavorful and incredibly moist. One order was massive -- definitely enough food for two people to share -- and for the portion size, I thought the price was very reasonable. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, and juicy, and I really enjoyed all the sauces they used. I also liked having the option of brown rice, white rice, or cabbage salad as the carb base. The garlic greens were fresh, perfectly cooked with a nice crunch, and had amazing garlic flavor. The mac salad was also well-coated and flavorful. Customer service was amazing from the moment we walked in. We were greeted with smiles, and when they found out it was my first time there, they kindly explained the menu to me, which I really appreciated. They were pretty busy on a Saturday, but the food still came out fairly quickly. I'm definitely looking forward to going back to try more entrées and would highly recommend this place! read more

Oh my goodness I don't think I have ever had teriyaki like this. The flavor profiles was immaculate. I did to go becasue I'm not a fan of eating at the restaurant but this place was so cute and inviting I might have to stay next time. Staff was so friendly and sweet the food was already ready to go. Rocky Teriyaki - Garlic AF and hot tofu with coleslaw, cucumber salad, greens beans and white rice - Japanese Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

It is rare to find this much food per dollar in Washington State since COVID. The quality is pretty good! The chicken is moist & flavorful. The rice tastes fresh, not stale or undercooked at all. The spicy chicken is actually spicy & it comes with slices of jalapenos & onion! Mac salad was really good, it was super creamy! The green beans were okay. It would have been nice to have salt & pepper as an option on the table. We came in at lunchtime on a Friday afternoon on the day before the 4th of July - the wait for food was 50 minutes & we weren't even the ones with the longest wait time. But I would say it's worth it if you can leave & come back or just call ahead an hour before you want the food. The staff is very welcoming, friendly & kind! They are quick to help answer any questions you might have & give you recommendations. There's plenty of seating but for the amount of people ordering food, you might have to stand. Absolutely loved this place. We got the Plate with the Garlic AF Chicken and Fry Me To The Moon chicken, with brown rice, edamame salad, and mac salad. We also got the Moo-Licious Teriyaki bowl with cabbage salad. Everything was literally so good. The Garlic AF Chicken had a really good garlic flavor without being overpowering, and the Fry Me To The Moon chicken was crispy with the perfect sweet and spicy gochujang sauce. The Moo-Licious bowl was also delicious, it was short rib with teriyaki and spicy sauce that worked really well together. The textures and flavors across everything were honestly perfect. The sides were great too. The edamame salad tasted super fresh, the mac salad was creamy, and the dipping sauces tied everything together really well. Everyone working there was also very nice. The only negative thing I could say is the logistics. I didn't see their number on Yelp and couldn't find a menu anywhere, so I'm including it here. Our to-go food took about 30 minutes to make, so it would've been nice to be able to call ahead. Aside from that though, it was amazing. read more

I've been seeing clips of this place on social media and HAD to come try their garlic chicken for myself. When you first walk in you are greeted by one of the owners who is in fact one of the nicest people ever! She made us feel right at home. Mimi Teriyaki #2 isn't your typical teriyaki spot. I would say this is a more modern take on teriyaki, which makes this spot a unique addition to Tacoma. Their menu is thoughtfully curated, and you can tell the new owners here really care about the food they put out as well as their customers.
