Booked a rafting trip for our softball team and their families over the July 4th holiday week. 36 people total. Pros: The group booking process was easy and the staff was super friendly and accommodating for our big group. Upon arrival the presentation was organized and thorough, especially the video that covers all of the safety instructions. Shop is big, with two restrooms and a comfortable outdoor seating area which is nice, as we waited almost an hour before getting on the bus. The guides were fun and energetic, especially Grace who engaged our group of teen girls and got them hyped up on the bus ride for the trip, banging their paddles on the bus roof! Everyone had positive feedback and was happy with their first rafting experience through RMA. Cons: We did a level 3 trip and it seemed a bit calm. Not too many "rapids", water level was low, and the two legs of the trip we made seemed short, under an hour each. Towards the end of the trip I asked if we could have some time for the girls to swim in the river the head guide abruptly said no and that we were out of time (likely because a raft had overturned and we spent 15 mins+ docked and waiting for them to regroup). Would have been nice to have maybe used that time to swim instead of just sitting in our rafts. Oh well. Overall, our group was happy with our trip and all said they're ready for a level 4. I would def recommend RMA for your group adventure, assuming most trips are the same duration. I'm especially thankful to Grace for making it so fun and memorable for our softball girls. I went on a raft trip with 5 of my friends on the last day of the rafting season. It was so wonderful. We had Will as our guide, and you could just tell how knowledgeable he was about not just rafting but nature in general. He told us all sorts of awesome things about fish, like where to find them, what fish were invasive, etc. He was also hilarious. I guess all the guides were hilarious. They have amazing (and painful) jokes. I also 100% plan to go again next year, and I will be using this company. Can't recommend them enough. read more

Everyone from the check in, our bus driver, and our lead guide, Dylan were absolutely fantastic! Dylan made everyone (5 of us w/ ages 7-46) comfortable w/ all of the instructions. The cost was very affordable for the experience. The knowledge base is deep and contagious because my husband wants to plan another trip and we just left an hour ago! The bathrooms were super clean and you're able to change in them when you get back. If you forgot anything, they probably have it and the prices weren't inflated. What one of the best values IMO, the pictures! My experiences have mostly been where they get you with pictures that are well over a hundred dollars.... Nope! This was a FANTASTIC family adventure! Lauren, our guide and Mary, our driver, were a phenomenal team and made our day so fun! Lauren made a special effort to make sure the kids felt both safe and challenged. She communicated so well about the river and the natural surroundings and also about how to work together as a team in the boat. Went in late August 2021. Five of us total and we all had a great time. Dillon was a great guide and lead us through the rocky waters expertly. The river was very low and rocks were more visible than usual. The RMA team made it fun with humor injected appropriately throughout the whole experience. We came to visit Estes Park this summer. We try to go rafting whenever we can. My husband and I and our two adult children decided on this rafting group on the Poudre River. Cam was our guide. He is excellent, fun and I felt very secure under his guidance. (I had fallen out of our raft on our last trip rafting in Maine, so I was a little nervous ) He Loves to tell stories. It's a two hour trip so we had a lot of time to get to know Cam. We always love this part of rafting. They all seem to have such an interesting background, and Love what they do. Stopped by on my way back home from college. Was able to call ahead and book a time easily. As I was road tripping back home alone and new to rafting I was a little bit nervous for the experience. Did a whitewater rafting trip down the Poudre River today with Rocky Mountain Adventure. Our guide was Lauren T and she was AMAZING! When you get to their facility their checkin process is simple and straightforward and after getting any gear like wetsuits, jackets, or river booties (yes they have all that for reasonable rental prices) you get a short safety briefing then we piled in a van and we were off to the put in spot. Which for us since we did the Class IV trip was a place called Steven's Gulch. Oh if you tend to be cold I'd recommend the wetsuit. Once we put in at Steven's Gulch our guide Lauren ran again briefed us on the safety protocols and familiarized us with the commands she would be using to pilot the raft. Then we did a few practice rounds and we were off. I'll let you watch YouTube videos about the river itself. What make the difference between a good trip and a bad one is your guide. You are not only looking for a guide with technical skills but one with the demeanor to manage the personalities of the various people in your raft. Lauren is such a person. First off, while we were driving up the canyon, I noticed she was paying attention to the condition on the river even noting things that changed from her morning trip (we did the 12:15 trip. This helped instill confidence in me that she knew what she was doing. When we were on the river she knew how to let us know the parts of the river we needed to be very focused and parts where we could relax a little. Skill wise I'd say she was top notch. We ended our trip going down Pineview Falls with the river at 4.5'. She did a beautiful job piloting the raft and commanding us to have a thrilling but safe run. In other words, no one went for a swim nor did we bash any rocks. It was the best run of the river. Prior to the Pineview Falls run on one of our rest stops Lauren asked everyone in the raft if we were up to extending the trip by about 30 minutes to include a few extra class III and of course Class IV runs including Pineview Falls. Of course everyone voted for the extra run and I'm glad we did. Overall a great afternoon with an outstanding guide. Thanks again Lauren! A few housekeeping tips. Bring a dry change of clothes and towels so you can change into dry clothes for the ride home. Yes there are changing rooms and restroom at their facility. There are no lockers there but you can lock all your stuff in your car and there is a place in the office to leave your keys. This was the fourth time our family has rafted with Rocky Mountain Adventure and we loved it once again! The guides are fun, knowledgeable, and well trained to safely take you down the river. Our guide, Payton, was excellen! My 9 year old son was rafting for the first time and was nervous, and Payton quickly out him at ease and talked him through our route as we rafted down. We had a blast and my som didn't want it to end! We also loved how much the guides knew about the history of and the wildlife in the me Canyon. You can't go wrong with these guys! read more

Today was my first time going rafting and I'm very glad I chose Rocky Mountain Adventures for my first experience. The guides were all great - fun but still professional. We loved our guide Riley, but sadly it was his last day there (hopefully he comes back next season!). Riley along with all the guides were very knowledgeable. Unfortunately due to the time of year along with some uncontrollables, the experience was not everything it could have been with the water being so low. This is one thing I wish they would be more transparent with when I made the reservation - letting us know ahead of time what to expect and what time of year is best to come. One major call out and the primary reason for the loss of a star is the bus driver. On at least one occasion I witnessed the driver texting and driving - I'm very much against this for any individual driver and it's only worse when you are driving a bus load of people all while on a road that has many curves. I hope this issue can be easily fixed as I felt slightly unsafe seeing that. Overall I highly recommend Rocky Mountain Adventures starting next season when the water is high again. I hope to be able to come back when the water is higher and can have even more fun! read more

My husband has always wanted to go white water rafting so when we were in Colorado for Father's Day, me and my daughter surprised him with a trip! I went online and made the reservation after searching through all of the local places that offered rafting and was surprised at how easy it was to look through RMA's different trips and book. I'm not going to lie, we're pretty adventurous and when I saw that my daughter was only old enough to do their lvl 2 and 3 trip I was worried that we weren't going to have a real experience of rafting. Boy, was I wrong! We got to RMA at our allotted time and were treated by Drew. He was so friendly and got us pumped to go! We decided to rent wet suits for a small fee and they came with jackets and water shoes. The staff go us suited up and ready to go and we made our way outside for our training. There was another group ready to go and Drew walked us through what to expect and the basics of rafting. After grabbing life vests and helmets we were ready to go! We boarded a bus and took a short drive to our rafting spot. Our guide for our boat was Rooster and He was awesome! He made me and my 10 year old daughter feel a lot more comfortable about our trip. As for the trip itself, the rapids did not disappoint! We had so much fun and my husband even fell out of the raft! Rooster kept us at ease and the training we got was put to good use! We had so much fun on our trip and wanted to come back the next day and do it again! Next time we are in town we will definitely be back! We all had a fantastic time with our whitewater rafting guide, Jake. We went on the lower Poudre trip (class 2/3) and are ready for more the next time. The water maneuvering and safety instructions were awesome. The jokes were entertaining. Overall the trip was amazing. The water was a cool 62 but with the sun out and air temp in the 80s, it was perfect. Jake did an expert job telling us what to do and with our strongest paddlers up front, the raft went where it should. There were 4 other rafts with us and we were the sweeper (last) raft. So we had the bag of goods (extra personal flotation devices, etc) with us. We had the misfortune of our bus getting a flat tire on the way ti the water drop off, so the overall time was longer than the estimated 4 hours. There were lots if stories, jokes and activities to keep us engaged. All the guides worked extra doing this, so I know I appreciated it. It was a very fun, safe but still exciting trip! We all look forward to our next trip with them! read more

The time slot we wanted was full when I tried booking on line, but when I called they were able to confirm our small group. The check in process was easy, the guides were super fun and safety was top priority. Four hours initially seemed like a long time, but once you're out there, you want more time on the water. Recommendation: If you're renting the wet suit (we thankfully did) wear a bathing suit under and have dry clothes either waiting on the bus or back at the meeting spot. My hubby and friends convinced me to go white water rafting. I'm not what people call adventurous but I decided I'd go. I was so nervous the night before I couldn't sleep. Once we got here we were greeted and signed a waiver (it talks about death) well that made me feel better. We all went to the bank to listen to all the rules. After go a helmet, life jacket and paddle. Got on the bus to head up the mountain. I got so nauseous on the way up the mountain. We got to put 1st stop and Peyton was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and once I was in the water I started to feel better. I actually had a ton of fun. I almost fell in but my hubby grabbed me before. We did a 2 and a 3 class o think that's what you call it. Lots of smaller kids were also in the other boats. So if I can do it anyone can. Thank you Peyton for a amazing trip! read more

What a fantastic adventure! I was in town for a conference, and had a day free to sneak away and do some rafting. I called Rocky Mountain Adventures that morning, and they were able to get me on the water in just a few hours! The Good: :: local business! :: they use PIGEONS to transport their memory cards from the photos they take during your riverrafting expedition!!! PIGEONS. insane. i love it!!! the little pigeons have little backpacks to carry the memory cards back. freaking genius idea. that way it helps the main headquarters process all the photos so that when you get back from your expedition, you don't have wait long, if at all, for your photos to be processed to look at and purchase! :: the CD containing all your photos was very reasonably priced at $40. i've been charged $80 by other rafting outfits. :: rafting guide was awesome and saved our lives when we all fell out of the raft and it overturned on us. scary stuff but we came out okay! whew. :: ample parking :: they sell lots of stuff, like waterproof disposable cameras, kayaks, gear, clothes, and other equipment The Bad: :: no private dressing/changing rooms. it was a big room in the back that had a curtain in front. had to wait til everyone else was done b/c no way in HELL am i going to get undressed in front of strangers. thanks but no thanks! We were in Ft Collins for vacation on the last day of July. Lauren was our guide for a 1/2 day morning outing and she did a great job. All of the guides did wonderful and we had a great time rafting.
