They use such positive training techniques and are so genuinely invested in each and every student. My easily distracted kids are now more focused, more respectful, more interactive. The staff is amazing. They know everyones names, siblings, parents. They celebrate victories of all kinds - breaking a board, attempting a new kick, getting a new belt - while being an encouraging comfort through tough times - anything from personal losses, boo boos, feeling discouraged at not breaking the board on the first try, and everything in between. I was TERRIFIED of trying something so completely out of my comfort zone. I am almost 40 and an impossibly long way away from the days before kids when I would work out a few days a week at a fancy-ish gym...i can barely remember that part of my life with so much more time and so many less people to take care of. It is NEVER too late to try something new. For me, it's important to show my girls that we have to keep going even when u feel like giving up. I know that's a bold statement, but it's the truth. The coaches at 3:16 are top-notch BJJ fighters with a wealth of knowledge. But here's what really sets them apart: they know how to teach. I've known a lot of people who are great at something, but they struggle to transfer that skill to others. That's not the case here. The team at 3:16 teaches through critical, rigorous training, all wrapped in genuine love and compassion. I've watched my boys grow--not just in skill, but in character. They're learning high-level jiu-jitsu, competing at a high level, and becoming better young men in the process. Because of that, at 43 years old, I decided to join 3:16 myself. So this part is for the men. Life, family, and business bring a lot of stress. I've turned to different things over the years to cope, but nothing helped quite like this. When you're on the mat, nothing else exists. You step into a mental space where the world's stresses melt away. It's the healthiest escape I've ever found.
