I had a little bit of a hard time finding the location because I'm not familiar with Minden. It's tucked into the corner of a strip mall with two shops on either side, and the sign wasn't super visible. The shop owner is super kind and welcome and able to help in all capacities. She knows her in store stock well, and can also order books if you're looking for something she doesn't have. Definitely wroth checking out! There's a bunch of fun merch items in addition to just books.

One looking for Magic Tree House books which they did not have. One looking for Berenstein Bears, found two. The oldest one looking for a chapter book she thought would be interesting. She found one as well. I perused the fiction section hoping to find a book I haven't read by an author I enjoy. I didn't find anything. One woman working the counter, answering the phone and greeting people coming in. So we waited patiently to pay for our books. Not sure if we need to come back here again in the future.

At first we thought it was closed because all of the lights were off. But the main door was unlocked and we entered. There was 3 people sitting at the table in the middle of the store - they stared us down but didn't say a word. We wondered the entire store which was primarily books, movies/dvds/VHS & furniture, with a few odds and ends. I think my definition of "gift store" is different than theirs because I didn't see much that I would categorize in that department. The odor in this store was the usual thrift store aroma, with a splash of...something very unpleasant. We saw what looked like a music venue in the back with a few guys talking really loudly from that area. After wondering the store, we started to work our way to the front when one of the gentleman practically ran to follow us out. When we looked back at him, he pulled out his key and dangled it indicating he was locking the door behind us, still not saying a single word to us. Out of probably 5 people in that store, not a single one said anything to us. If they were closed, they should have locked the door behind them - it was Saturday late morning.... I would label this more as a used book/music/movie store. I definitely won't waste my time here again. Such a weird experience!

No - I did not use a tool to open the box, plus, it was the book on the bottom, not the top book. I seldom return but prepped the book and box and got ready to buy a post office shipping label, then thought, hmmm, I'll call to make sure they know that I don't want a refund, just a new unmarked book. The woman on the phone was helpful. Three days later the gift book arrived, unmarked !! Thank you Barnes Noble staff.

Normally, I am an independent bookstore supporter and I do still buy the majority of my books from smaller independent booksellers. Unfortunately, I haven't found an independent bookstore in Nevada -- North or South -- that compares to the likes of Vroman's in Pasadena (if you have a recommendation, I am all ears). That said, if you are in the Reno area and want a brick and mortar bookstore with a huge selection, this is the place. And they do offer some decent discounts, so keep an eye out for the books that have been marked down. I was able to pick up a first edition of Patti Smith's new memoir at 50% off!

This weekend I had the chance to come back and I'm so glad I did! The location is awesome. There's ample paid street parking and a ton of other stores and restaurants nearby. The front of the store is a large selection for adults and young adults, and then there's a nice kid section in the back. Employees are all awesome and very friendly AND will offer suggestions, which I love. I wish there was a bookstore like this one in my home town haha. But if you are in the area and are a reader, it's absolutely worth checking out!

I really enjoyed my fair share of cold brews, but what sold me was the Candied Cardamom. It had so much flavor and spice, and there was a kick to it. It did come with cold foam, which added more sweetness to it, and created the best-balanced drink. I got it cold, and it was a better decision since the weather was hot and muggy. It definitely cooled me down! I can't wait to come back and try more drinks! Give Cuppa Tahoe some love!!
