(Which I do love BTW) This store has one of the most intuitive layouts I've ever encountered in a bookstore, and the selection, wow! After making all of my selections, I spoke to the owner for a bit. He seems to have a passion for finding everything interesting and unique. What a nice guy! I tried to keep it reasonable and only bought four books, but I already have plans to go back, and I reached out to friends who are in the area to see if there's anything they need! It seems more critical now than ever to have as many books as you can so that we don't lose history.

This weekend I had the chance to come back and I'm so glad I did! The location is awesome. There's ample paid street parking and a ton of other stores and restaurants nearby. The front of the store is a large selection for adults and young adults, and then there's a nice kid section in the back. Employees are all awesome and very friendly AND will offer suggestions, which I love. I wish there was a bookstore like this one in my home town haha. This shop is located in the Carson City Senior Center and is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM. When I pointed out that the website said they closed at 3:30 PM, the volunteer apologized and said it was been that way for years. Much to my surprise, a few hours later it was corrected on the web, without me even requesting that. For this gift shop, seniors who are 62 and older make crafts, jewelry, accessories, etc., and sell them here on consignment. 15% of the proceeds goes to Meals on Wheels, which the Carson Senior Center runs. The remaining 85% goes directly to the person who consigned the craft, so they may have some extra income! All items are new. They accept consignments Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. I asked if disabled people under 62 could sell items there, and the volunteer was not sure, but said to come back in a short while when the manager would be there. The store has an enormous amount of items for sale, all very colorful. They have such diverse items as scarves, quilts, throw pillows, wigs, trinkets, pictures, trucks, teddy bears, home decor, jewelry, walking sticks, etc. The volunteer I spoke to was oh so nice and professional. They take the four major credit cards according to the sign on their windows, but the bulletin board inside says just three: MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. They also take cash, but no longer accept checks. The store is so bright and colorful, I want to come back here soon to shop!

The selections here are slanted more towards "girly" selections, which means that Gayle found a few nice gifts and my discoveries were more towards what she might like as future present. There were many options in that department. They had some very nice Christmas items on sale towards the back, but to my surprise, Gayle didn't bite. She told me later that she was tempted, but felt overwhelmed at home with all the Holiday items we already owned. Depending on post-holiday timing of putting everything away (including some thinning of our stuff), I might circle back.

I walked through it all, most I assume to be a hefty collection of rented "booths" and maybe some consignment. I'll need to come back again, as each antique store visit is just one layer of the onion. The antique wares were well organized throughout, although with differences in display density. There was a pleasant atmosphere in the store, both from staff and all the curious folks like me taking it all in. The husband of a friend used to be an antique dealer and he often talked about collection cycles and people age out and their treasures move on. I thought of that as I perused and sometimes admired an impressive collection of "stuff" that were previously special to their previous owners, and would someday be again.
