This is the cutest little shop located in N. Carson. They have the most unique gifts if you're looking to find something special for a loved one. Super friendly ladies working and locally owned smaller business. I found some things for myself and for my yard. I'm already looking forward for spring and my garden. Fairly priced items throughout this store and looking forward to returning and picking up a few more wind chimes and more items for my garden. I've been meaning to visit The Purple Avocado for quite some time now. A friend of mine referred me to the wonderful little gift shop and said it had a something for everyone. I brought my 12 year old daughter with me (she loves to shop) and we were both pleasantly surprised by the terrific array of books, gifts, and assortment of products that they offer. From cute novelty socks to holiday cards, ornaments, window decorations, books, home decor and more, my daughter and I spent quite a bit of time perusing the lovely store. We ended up purchasing some chocolates, socks, and a mermaid wind chime (my daughter, not me). Owners Sue and Stan were warm and welcoming, just what you would come to expect from a couple who has owned the shop for decades. Super nice, lovely people. Stopped in to buy gifts for the holidays and were so glad to find it is a local shop. We met the owners who are very nice and helpful. The place is tiny but jam packed with signs, chimes, and doo dads in every corner. We were able to find just what we needed for my mother and mother in law. They are both into gardening and there were many items themed in that manner. You can also expect to find small gifts of many genres as well as those Sid Dickens memory blocks. This place is super cute!! They have soo many unique gifts and one of a kind items. If you have someone hard to shop for I recommend coming here to check this place out! They have stickers and stones with words of encouragement and they have books and socks and cups and cards. The Purple Avocado isn't a typical gift shop because it isn't full of things that are cheap and tacky. Instead, the Purple Avocado sells things that are unique and eye-catching and that you won't find anywhere else. I purchased a piggy bank for my daughter's birthday that she just adores after looking at the "big box" stores first and couldn't find one anywhere. I've also purchased Christmas gifts for my sister and mother at the Purple Avocado. The owners are exceptionally friendly and happy to have your business. My mom took me here over the Thanksgiving holiday and we were immediately asked if we wanted some apple cider which made it feel like I was stepping inside someone's home vs a typical store. I grew up in Carson City and now live in Virginia. I called them up and asked for some suggestions for my wife. They e-mailed me some pictures and made some suggestions. The next day I ordered what they suggested. It got here really fast and the box it came in even came with the signature Purple Avocado green and purple bag and tissue paper. My wife was in tears when she saw because she was so happy. It reminded her of home and even smelled like the candles and nick-knacks in the store!! A great store for unique, personal gifts. Visited this shop several times whilst on holiday. Absolutely loved it. I could have spent hours and lots and lots of money. Everything was to beautiful. Staff were so friendly and let you browse no hassle. Returned to Australia and wanted a gift for a friend in Carson City so contacted them and they were so helpful and sent me pictures of gift ideas and once chosen, they put a card with the present and wrapped it.
