Very happy with our first visit to this salon. Called on a Sunday and the person who answered was sweet, patient, and helpful. Was able to book an appointment on their website for the next evening. Took our 2 year old for a haircut with Christina who was great with our girl! The salon definitely caters to children and Christina was clearly experienced with toddlers and children. They have toys, books, and (optional) screen time - Christina was helpful and sweet- she was amazing! They gave us a little certificate with a bit of my baby's hair to commemorate her first ever haircut, and a "prize" toy for my toddler. The bathroom was super clean and there is a changing table. It was a comfortable, beautiful and sweet experience. Highly recommend read more

We took our son (1.5) there for his first hair cut. I wouldn't imagine any better experience. It's very clean and the women working there are amazing! The seats was little cars and there is a screen that kept our lo busy and he didn't cry even a moment. We're so happy that we found the hair saloon for our son. We'll go there forever! read more

Christina is literally the kids hair wizard. This was our third time coming in and she produced exactly what we asked for (an old picture of Sting), even better. The whole experience is 10/10, our little Benny is so happy with his new haircut. Thanks Christina! read more

This review is 2 years overdue...Rockin' Locks is the absolute BEST place for a child's haircut. We travel an hour across Bklyn to get our 3 year old's haircut here and would never go anywhere else. Christina and Allison are patient and kind. Our son LOVES seeing them every time we go and they made his first haircut experience at 1 year old such a positive one. It definitely set the tone for his future cuts and we're so grateful we found them! read more

My 19 month old daughter had really uneven hair so today I took her to see Christina. OMG I love this place. It's super clean, like you can smell that it's clean. They're very polite and ask for your permission before giving a child screen time during and a lollipop after. I even mentioned that I need a haircut myself and was recommended to the salon 2 doors down. Everything went well and I look forward to future visits. read more

Extraordinary from start to finish. This was only my 3 year old's second haircut and a smile never left his face the entire time he was in Christina's warm, friendly, professional and CLEARLY very talented hands. She and Allison made sure the haircut experience was positive and fun with bubbles, toys, and lots of giggles. Even my 9 month old, who came along for the ride, enjoyed his time crawling all over the floor and playing with toys. My son's favorite part were the awesome treats at the end when he looked like he just walked off a photo shoot with his fresh new cut! We can't wait to return! This place is exactly how kid haircuts should be done. You definitely get A LOT of bang for your buck. read more

After reading great reviews about this salon, I decided to take my 6 years old son to get a haircut. It was his first time so I was a little worried about his reaction as well as how patient the hairstylist would be.The salon is very child centered, has a great comforting, calming smell and my son was treated very well and received Valentine's cookies, candy and a little toy. They are very sweet, accommodating people, have iPads and toys to distract the child while the cut is done. The child can choose her/his favorite cartoon. The whole experience was great and my son's received lots of compliments. Very professional and caring, they were as punctual as I was so I didn't have to wait any longer than my appointment time. read more

Returned to Christina for a follow up cut. After having such a positive and amazing experience the first time, I felt like she earned my trust to where I gave her creative freedom to cut and style my little boy's hair as she sees fit (with only a request to go edgier than before). And she truly did even a better job when I just let her do what she knows best. I just can't stop raving about his cut. My boy put up a pretty big fight this time around but she truly pulls through with her tricks of the trade and patient perseverance. After he he calmed down from his cut, we felt so comfortable to hang around so I could feed my little guy lunch and let him play with the toys before I had to strap him in for a long car ride (because we drove the distance just to get to Christina. She's that worth it). Her lovely assistant even made a mean cup of coffee for me to enjoy! Thank You Ladies! ----------- Previous Review--------------- We have a 15 month old Toddler who doesn't want to sit still, cries bloody murder while flailing his body all over the place through his haircuts. Our first 2 experiences at another "kid salon" was traumatic and stressful. It doesn't help that our boy has difficult hair which is hard to style. So on top of a toddler who doesn't like to cooperate, his hair cuts were pretty bad and lifeless.... Until we met Christina. Christina is a genius with kids and haircuts. She didn't force my son into the cute taxi cab barber chair but let my clingy boy get acclimated to the environment. This immediately put everyone at ease. Once my son believed it was just playtime, he was more receptive to having someone touch his hair. Christina understood the style I wanted and she worked surreptitiously around my moving boy to get the job done. Her wonderful assistant also did a phenomenal job keeping my son entertained with bubbles, cars, spin tops and other cool toys. The entire cut took place as my son walked around and played. I was amazed at how effortless Christina worked. The cut she gave my son looked AMAZING! She was able to add shape and texture to his hair that actually made him look even cuter than before. I can see how his new cut will be so easy to manage and will grow out really nicely. Just the experience alone was worth every penny, but to leave with a very stylish haircut makes Christina indispensable. At the end of the experience, everyone was happy and my son finally agreed to sit in the taxi cab for a picture and take his yellow balloon as a gift. I was elated and on cloud nine all day from such a fun experience. I no longer have to dread his haircuts or go through anxiety before each cut wondering how worse off his hair will end up. Even if you don't live in Brooklyn, it's absolutely worth the drive or train ride to Williamsburg to have Christina cut your child's hair. Your child will leave in such good spirit that they might even sit through an entire brunch at one of the many cute restaurants in the area like my son actually did. If style and having a good experience is important, than its worth the distance to travel to get to Rockin' Locks. read more

Just finished bringing my little Julian to Rockin Locks and the experience far surpassed my most optimistic expectations. This was my little guy's first time getting a haircut so I was a bit apprehensive about how he would react. They made him feel so comfortable throughout the entire process. He never complained or cried once...well, until it was time to leave because he did not want to go lol. Suffice to say, we will definitely be returning. I researched children's salons all over the city and I have to pat myself on the back for choosing this place. The quality displayed in cutting his hair was top notch. Kid looks like a million bucks. These gals rock! read more

My 2 yr old LOVED her experience at Rockin' Locks. Between the bubbles, toy cars, peppa pig and stickers she was in heaven. The cut & shape are perfect for her curly hair and the sweet little French braid was such a nice touch. Christina and Allison were both so warm and welcoming. Thank you! read more

What an amazing experience! We were in town from the north coast of Oregon. I looked for places in Manhattan, but since we were going to visit a friend in Brooklyn I decided to look there. Thank God I did! I was more excited than our daughter was! They took great care of her and she had a blast! We got a certificate with a lock of her hair and a free little toy that she continues to carry! They had the tools, toys and know how do distract for every situation. I can't recommend them enough! read more

Perfect salon for my active little lady. I've been anxious to take her for her 1st hair cut, but Christina and Allison were as amazing as the reviews all claim. The aura of the salon, an intimate space that's incredibly kid-friendly, along with the staff, made the whole experience relaxing for my mother & I, and a happy Harper = a happy momma. I didn't have to worry about my little acrobat climbing out of the car shaped chairs set up in the salon (which are super cute!), and the strategy designed is definitely a successful one. Plenty of ways to distract your LO, and even an iPad to watch. The pricing was fair, the cut was what I hoped for, and I was pleasantly surprised with how well our appointment went overall. Highly recommend this children's hair salon, and definitely plan to be back. read more

My 3 1/2 year old son got his first haircut today and we had the best experience!! The environment was beyond child friendly and the customer service surpassed my expectations. I was extremely nervous and emotional about cutting my son's hair (he had gorgeous curly hair past his shoulders) but it was definitely time for a change. Christina was completely understanding and listened to all my concerns. She cut his hair EXACTLY how I imagined and my son had a blast playing with toys, blowing bubbles and watching Curious George while she did so. Will definitely be coming back!! read more

Christina gave my son his first haircut more than 6 years ago, when he was 2. And she's been the only one to cut his hair since. We've been her client from when she was at a salon in the city, through her time doing home visits, to now with her own space in Brooklyn. My son may have been Christina's first official customer in Brooklyn, in fact (I think that's true). Fantastic all around. A+. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else for our son's haircuts. read more

Rockin' Locks is, hands down, the best salon for kids. Stylist-owner Christina is amazing with our kids, making them feel involved in their hair cuts and very confident afterwards. This place is really great. The stylist was so relaxed and patient and gave my 16 month lots of space to settle in and enjoy his haircut. This was an amazing haircut for our 14 month old. They listened to what we wanted, showed us photo ideas and managed to keep a very active boy busy while cutting his hair to the point that he had no idea what was happening! Bubbles, music videos, firetrucks and musical instruments. He looked amazing after, was very happy and didn't want to leave the store because of all the cool toys they had. I believe we will be going back for the duration of his childhood. Love them and their dog Ziggy! read more

5 stars without hesitation! We brought our son here for his first haircut. He was one of those babies who was born with long hair and my wife and in-laws were freaking out about cutting it. Unfortunately every salon I looked at had photos of kids whose hair was not only chopped entirely off, but butchered. Luckily, I found Rockin Locks! Christina doesn't just cut the hair, she styles and cuts the hair for the child in the chair. We were 100% happy with our son's first hair cut -- so much so, we are going back today and my wife has given me the greenlight to cut more off this time. ;) We are only going here from now on. Now if only they would cut my hair! read more

Makes it easy and enjoyable for my son to get his hair cut! Stylist is also very patient and good at connecting with kids.

Amazing!! Best hair cut. Stress-free experience. Short version: not only were they super good with my kids, the haircut was very cute & a month later it is growing out nicely. Detailed version: I have two girls and got one a haircut at a kids salon near us in NJ and it was NOT smooth sailing, they took forever & actually ran out of time so they couldn't do both kids. The woman kept having my daughter stand up in the chair to trying to get it right---my daughter was so good the whole time but by the end I could tell she wasn't enjoying it. And it was starting to get very stressful to keep her still--so I just called it done. So for my other daughter I drove all the way out to Brooklyn. Rockin' Locks was fantastic!!! The haircut was fast and super professional (it looks so much better than the NJ kids salon haircut). They even took some extra time to trim up the botched NJ haircut. They were super nice and very patient with my girl who was very nervous (it was her first haircut). The end result was super cute. We cut off 13 inches--so this was a big haircut not just a trim. I was very nervous (as I loved her long hair---but the little A-line bob was so cute. We were doing a Locks for Love hair donation---and the salon even gave us a discount because of our donation). They only schedule one kiddo at a time so they can fully focus that kid. And they were super nice letting her sister play with toys and color in their coloring book. It was an easy relaxing experience---which is no small feat. The hair cut was over a month ago and is growing out very nicely. I am actually thinking about taking my other daughter back---because (no surprise here) the NJ haircut is not growing out nicely. Also, my girls walked out of the store (unbeknownst to me) with two small toys. When I realized what had happened I was four blocks away getting the kiddos lunch. One of the women from Rockin' Locks offered to walk all the way over to collect the toys--- in the rain---luckily we were parked nearby, so I didn't have to make her walk, but was able to just swing by and pay for the toys in person. Talk about nice. read more

Christina was awesome with our overly active toddler! She did a great job on his hair and really helped correct a bad haircut he had months ago. She listened to what we were looking for and did exactly what we wanted and even explained why the style works best because of his hair! We are definitely going back for sure! Luke loved the car, balloon and of course Frozen. Awesome experience and Christina is fabulous with little guys! We'll keep making the trek from Greenpoint for this one! read more

We took our 2 year old son for his first official haircut today. We have been unsuccessful at previous hair salons and barber shops at keeping our son from crying and flailing out of our arms long enough for a cut. After reading all the great reviews, we wanted to bring our son to Christina. Even though he cried and my husband had to hold him for his cut, Christina was able to move with my son and cut his hair. Christina and her assistant were wonderful with him. They distracted him with toys, videos, bubbles and kept very calm during the whole process. We will definitely be bringing our son to them again!!! read more

I'm not going to lie - I didn't want to cut my son's hair for the first time. But they made every effort to make us both comfortable and Christina put my mind at ease when she understood that I still wanted him to look like a baby. She gave him a wonderful haircut and I really appreciate the attention we were paid - it was a great experience. AND without my having to ask, they saved a clip of his hair and gave me a certificate to mark the day wrapped up and tied with ribbon! We will definitely be going back there for his second haircut. read more
