I was able to get the work scheduled in a couple days, and the communication was great. I got text message alerts of arrival time window, and who would be coming. Once the Andrew and Gustavo arrived at my house on the day of the job, they were friendly and went right to work. They wore shoe covers when coming into my house, and they were very knowledgeable and communicated what they needed (like turning on the faucets in my bathrooms when the main water line was shut off). I had bought the utility sink that I wanted to replace my old one with so Andrew and Gustavo figured out the new piping that needed to be put in, and went the extra mile to make sure that the install of the sink was perfect by stabilizing the sink so it wouldn't be so shaky. I contacted David to…read moreinform him that when I turn on my outdoor spigot that my carpet gets wet inside my home in the same area that is near the repaired hose bib. When he left my house on 4/4 he stated that he would return if there was any issue relating to the repairs that he personally worked on. Now, when I initially contacted him on 4/16 regarding this ongoing matter, he was very dismissive. I got the impression that he did not want to come back out to inspect the issue. He asked me to look at my water meter below my stairs to see if something was spinning. I have no clue as I'm not a Plumber. I sent a photo. I asked if he wouldn't mind coming back out to see what the issue was. He just responded "ok". I didn't hear back so I followed up with him on today 4/22 and his response is to call back out the contractors that I had cut a hole in my wall for him to fix the repair initially. My insurance was covering the costs of those contractors due to unrelated water damage. So now he wants me to pay for contractors to come back out, cut another hole in my wall, repair drywall and repaint so he can inspect the hose bib that he attempted to repair. As his response was if he came out there's nothing he would be able to see without the hole being cut. I am beyond frustrated. Of course I'm not doing that. So I essentially I paid David a little over $300 for nothing. I still can't use my spigot without water leaking into my home. I now have to say that I do not recommend his services based on my recent experience. I'm rating him 2 stars because he made himself available initially with the quick turnaround. Although, I still have the same issue that he came to repair. And I asked several times if the hose bib that he repaired was the issue (while contractors were still present and the hole was still open) and he assured me that is was and stated that he showed me the pipe with the hole in it. Welp, if it was not sure why I still can't use my spigot and have wet carpet when it's turned on as well as potential risk of water flooding my home again if it were to be turned on for a period of time. Initial review: David was "Johnny-on-the-spot" as they say. I'm very grateful. I contacted him on Yelp on Thursday 4/3 with an extremely tight window for Friday 4/4 to repair a Hose Bib while my contractors were present so they could cut a hole in the wall to allow him to do the repair. I contacted LaCassa to get estimates for two projects. During my initial call, I was informed there would be an $87 fee for a technician to come out and provide an estimate. That was not an issue because I was also informed the $87 would be credited back if I signed a contract to perform the work. During the visit, I was then told it would cost an additional $395 just to assess the issue in order to provide the estimate I originally requested, and that was for the first project. This charge was described as a "diagnostic charge.' From my perspective, I had already paid for an estimate as I requested in my initial phone call, when in reality I apparently paid for someone to tell me I'd have to pay more to get that estimate. That within itself was misleading. For the second project, I was given a price with a condition attached, essentially, the price only applied "if" nothing went wrong. I was then asked if I wanted to move forward with the work, without being told what the cost would be if that condition wasn't met. I understand this is an older home and things could happen, but you can't give me a conditional estimate without providing the cost for both sides of that condition. I did eventually get that information after raising concerns, but it should have been clearly communicated upfront, providing me with the big picture. Overall, the lack of transparency and clarity during the initial interaction led me to make the decision to not move forward with this company. Communication is key. EDIT TO CARMEN: I do understand the need for an in person evaluation. However, your response is relative to the dishwasher part of the request only. With that said, I've never had a company come out to provide an estimate without performing the steps required to complete that estimate. In this case, I was simply told that you'll have to pay $87 for a visit (all good), but then you have to pay an additional $395 to get that estimate (not good) when I could have been told that over the phone just as you typed in your reply. Leading the customer down the path of thinking they're going to get an estimate instead of stating up front there could be additional steps/costs required to get that estimate is misleading. That's an example of my transparency concern. In regard to the outdoor spigot part of the request. You didn't address giving a conditional estimate without providing the cost for both sides. I had to ask for that when it should have been provided prior to me being asked if I wanted to sign for the work. Of course I'm not going to sign without knowing both sides of the coin. That's an example of my communication concern. We all have different expectations and I simply want others to know what happened to me. It creates an awareness of what they may be up against if the tech comes across something that as you state, isn't 'normal'. It may also help someone know what questions to ask to help prevent it. I felt the need to clarify that my concerns were not related to the $87. They were related to the communication and transparency since your response only reframes what your process is. One of the toilets started leaking. Mark was able to quickly come out and care for the problem. As…read morean aside, I asked him to look at the handle on the other toilet as it was sticking and the water would continue to run unless you juggled the handle. He fixed it. Then before he left, he thought to give it one last check and the handle broke. It wasn't his fault but he felt so responsible. I am temporarily laid up with a broken ankle and really depend on that bath. Mark had the part shipped overnight so he could get things working right. He certainly did not have to go that extra mile. If you're looking for a plumber who will treat your home as it was his own, Mark is the guy. He's prompt, knowledgeable, conscientious and honest. Qualities hard to come by in tradespeople these days. I have several more plumbing projects and I will be calling Choice Plumbing to do them.
