I'm not sure if there's signage that says "Ever Records" on the outside. I stumbled across this record store accidentally - I followed the sound of the Pink Floyd song "Sheep" from their album, Animals, and in a pied piper fashion (ironically), it led me to this record shop. I didn't see this record store listed on Yelp, so I created a Yelp business listing based on the information on the shop's Facebook page. Record selection is great, there are quite a few rare records - lots of first pressing and autographed records (Iggy Pop, Allman Brothers, probably many more if I had kept digging). The albums aren't super well organized, they're roughly organized by genre and alphabetically. You're really going to need to spend time crate-digging, but you will find many gems here. Credit card reader wasn't working when I visited, but payment can be made with cash or Venmo.

Now ive done a bit of traveling and sometimes a place that looks great can be kinda gimmicky, so this was my fear with this location, BUT now that I have been I can promise Mystery Spot was easily my favorite part of our trip. The owner was there, she was funny and kind and very knowledgeable! Another highlight was a shock, the layout! it was so easy to walk through and get lost in each room, everything was organized and easy to look through. I can't say enough how much that helped, I hate feeling like a bull in a china shop so feeling comfortable walking around was a big factor for me. My partner and I purchased our first antique and have our eye on our next purchase here, giving us an excuse to come back to the beautiful little paradise that is Phoenicia. Thank you Mystery Spot! Behind the glass, faded photos of dead and forgotten strangers stared back at me like ghosts waiting for a train that's never coming. I was inside just the last week, they had lots of cool vintage stuff. ​On the porch sat a wooden crate full of old vinyl records labeled "YARD SALE IN A BOX. $1 AN ITEM." A Camelot soundtrack album was sticking out, warped slightly by the sun. Over head hung a red upside-down sign that read "MYSTERY SPOT," right next to cheap plastic slogans about Cypress Gardens and Clutter World. My big, lean hound stood on the porch planks, sniffing around the wood like he was trying to catch the scent of a better decade, or just trying to get inside. ​It's the kind of joint that hoards the cool junk of a thousand lives vintage clothes, oddities, records, etcetera. Its the kind of place where they don't care if you buy anything, or just browse and they probably don't care if you leave. My dog didn't bark, the door didn't open, and the sun just kept beating down on the boardwalk planks, so we just sat for a bit and split a sandwich.

It has that classic, welcoming bookstore feel with so much personality packed into every corner. Opening its doors a couple of years ago in what used to be a mechanic shop (of some kind I think), prices are "thrift"! Not far from the Woodstock line on Rt 212 in Saugerties, Ray's Retro has heaps of 50s, 60s, 70s vintage clothes, bags and jewelry, etc- plus you're guaranteed to find the perfect vintage piece with your name on it! My daughter says I like wearing "loud" things. While I don't disagree, I love adding just a piece that pops to my minimalist look and Rayann's met me there. From the Gong bell entrance to what's inside, every corner here has something for you...that's of course- if you're into this kinda thing. And in the words of one of my favorite artists, "I'm gonna pop some tags. Only got twenty dollars in my pocket. I'm, I'm, I'm hunting, lookin for a come-up- This is f*cking awesome".

I think this is going to be my 'go to' store for when in am in need of a present or just feel like treating myself. They have a lot of very yummy local products, soaps, dishtowels, candles, silly gifts, too much to name. They also have good antiques which are going to be awesome as Christmas presents. I am going to go by on a regularly basis to see what new fun stuff they have so I don't have to rush in December when everyone is out there buying!! I thought I would share as this is definitely something we needed in Woodstock and I can't buy it all myself anyway :-).
