Lovely store, great selection and worth the stop. Prices were more than fair, and found some real gems, an old Sonic Youth tour LP and a Minor Threat live repress I didn't know about. Great staff, super helpful.

This Rhino Records is located in a cute little shopping area just off of Main. They have vinyls & cds. There's several bins of $5 vinyls to rummage through and you might just find something like. Searching is part of the fun of vinyl collecting! The store is small but packed with music. If you want to know what's playing in the background just look at the front desk and it'll be displayed. The employee here was very helpful & informative.

Nice selection but seriously overpriced. You can find some kind of rare things here and interesting books as well.

This store was cool. It had a great collection of many genres. Great Punk and Hardcore sections. Even a good kids area.

Not your average record store! Darkside Records is a must visit if you're in the Hudson Valley…read more Justin is awesome and the whole team is friendly, and super knowledgeable without being 'record store pretentious.' The new space is unreal and holds countless vinyl records, CDs, video games, DVDs, VHS, etc. along with so many cool products ranging from swag and gifts, to cannabis equipment and incense. Darkside has a great website to place orders in case you can't stop in in person. Even as a local, I place preorders online for new music, and always can rely on them to have what I'm looking for, including indie-exclusive pressings and vinyl variants. As a loyal customer for nearly 11 years, it's been great to see this business grow into what it is today. Excited for what this new chapter brings to them, and our community. The new Darkside is more than just a storefront, but a community and a VIBE! Soon, it looks like they'll have self pouring taps for customers, as well as a bar on the second floor. Hoping they'll continue to have concerts in the new space. A must visit!

I came to the city of Beacon New York, to see Judy Collins preform,at the town crier café. Before…read morethe show I decided to stop by a very good organic burger restaurant. As I walked down the main street, I saw a sign out on the sidewalk that said record shop. Being a fan of independent record stores, I've been to over 100. I quickened my pace to enter. When I walked in I was greeted very warmly by the proprietors. The shop is somewhat small but very well organized. I was asked what type of music I like. I said folk rock pop Bluegrass. Sandy the woman behind the counter pointed out the folk section. Phil showed me the new arrival section. He said that if there's anything that I want to listen to in the used section. Just pass it over and I'll be happy to put it on the turntable. There is a very good mix of all types of music: folk, bluegrass, rock, pop, country, soundtracks, jazz. As well as an 80s section. Along with an oddball section.that features, records by John Travolta, Don Johnson, among other oddities. There is also a box of new releases, along with some new releases behind the counter up on the wall. The prices of everything including the new releases, were very good indeed. There are plenty of great records to choose from. I chatted more with the owners of the store, about collecting used records, the market today for new and used vinyl and the joy of listening to records on a real hi-fi system versus the poor sound MP3 files. I've been to many many record stores as I said. But I'd have to say, Sandy and Phil were the friendliest and most helpful proprietors, of a record shop, that I have encountered in my travels. I picked up Chubby Checkers folk album quite a rare find.As well as a couple of folk albums, one from Eric darling the other artist TomScott. As well as Bob Dylan's brand-new album- Shadows In The Night, The store has been open for about nine months as of January 2015. My time in the store was fantastic. Both Sandy and Phil made my experience at the stores very special. . I'll be sure to return often, to pick up many more vinyl records to add to my vast collection. The store is definitely worth a trip from anywhere in the Hudson Valley

Let's start with the vinyl section: The albums are haphazardly scattered about the section with little to no care for condition or storage. They are in a very poor order and not well organized. You can find a few gems but they often have bent corners, they're scratched or missing sleeves. I wouldn't look to buy any used LPs here. Next up pinball: I absolutely love the set up with the black lights and nostalgic sounds that comes from the pinball machines. This is truly a time capsule and is worth the visit if you enjoy vintage pinball. I can not honestly think of another location like it. Finally the head shop / general merchandise: Much like the vinyl, it's a mess. Not easy to find anything. You'll end up stumbling on something rather than find what you want. Lots of items I noticed are damaged or broken due to lack or care. It's a shame because there is a lot of beautiful stuff. In conclusion; this place could be great if it was cared for. Not sure why it's a train wreck of disorganization, but it is. I could have easily dropped a few hundred dollars on my visit today but didn't because the condition and state of the items I wanted were not acceptable. If you want to play pinball, this is THE place. If you want to buy merch/vinyl, there are better places within a 30 minute drive.
